    Yes...without question your Charger looks great...in your dry and ragged environment. You live in rural Nevada where its OK to drive a patina car because of where you live...however a trip to LAX may find you pulled over by the boys in blue...even though your car is in perfect roadworthy condition. I like your 'hands on' approach to getting your cars back on the road...its an education :-)

    Thanks for sharing.

    Good score !! I prefer shiny paint,but I will say this youre not spending time waxing/polishing your Charger that way and I bet it probably turns more heads this way !! I love it,how can you not its a Charger !! Especially a 68-70 Charger,you just cant go wrong !
    People dont know that people used to Tow with these cars !!! All old cars people towed with !!
    68 383 Magnum was a good quick car,I bought one from the original owner in 1985 drove it daily(had and still have a 68 Charger RT)...I lived where it snowed then and snow tires and weight in the trunk,the car went everywhere uphill not some flat land either ! Rocky Mountains are not flat lol...Car was kept clean and suffered no rust the 5 years I drove it everyday/near everyday and in the winter ! All you do is keep the body waxed/polished and wash the underside of the car every few days..People should do tat with their new cars/trucks they drive in the rust belt,would save the vehicles from rusting to nothing !

    You can go over the rust and body work with a green to make the copper car look corroded

  • @kavinskysmith4094
    @kavinskysmith4094 6 років тому

    What do you do about the motors though, as their made to run on leaded high octane gas, do you take the valves out, redo them and tune them to run better on lower octane pump gas? as that would still leave the fuel lines with all the modern gas problems. Also I get the patina thing, but just seeing the roof wield kinda drives me nuts, plus a matt clear coat would go a good way to saving the car, as you can actually paint rust.
    as no matter how good patina is, metal is metal if it doesnt have a coating on it it will just errode away over time.
    doesnt mean it has to be some super shiney car, as you can just scuff up the coat to make it look rough and keep the look, its just you do kinda have to fight that.
    as the difference between a matt black, and a beautiful black paintjob that just attracts the worst kinda people, is all in the polishing and the wetsanding, so if you knew what you were doing you could make a good inbetween that would keep it from being too good in such a way that some jackass could ruin your day
    and prevent mother nature from reclaiming the iron ore into dust.

    • @danielscott6787
      @danielscott6787 6 років тому

      I don't have any problems driving any of my Mopars. Only "915/516"- 1967 one year only castings are closed chamber heads- 906 are about 84cc which will only be about 10 to 1 compression ratio. Both my 67 GTX & New Yorker have closed chamber heads with steel shim head gaskets and flat top forged pistons. Even if any 383/440 would have detonation problems you could just add some MLS head gaskets to drop the compression ratio.

    • @kavinskysmith4094
      @kavinskysmith4094 6 років тому

      so what octane do you use though, as where I live we dont have alot to choose from, 87, 89 and 91, atleast not at shell.

    Go with " gear vendors" over/ underdrive. Makes the car a 6 speed.!! With auto overdrive ability at 40mph.
    Got one in my 68 440. .where i live it was $800hundred cheaper than overdrive tranny. Easy self install. Shifts as hard as a 4th stage shift kit. With 3.73 rear it was shifting into final (6th) drive at 125mph at 6,000 rpm. At track.
    Final drive was equivalent to a 2.91. Warranteed for up to 1,200 HP. OR FOR $500 more you get deep sump and good for up to 2,000 HP. ONLY ISSUE IS YOU MUST ALWAYS SHIFT ABOVE 30/35 MPH? Or you could glaze the cone clutch. which means stripping it apart to sand off the glazing. On mine i was able to restore slipping by 50% by just shifting it about 40 times at a steady 80 mph. Im gonna look for an additive to see if that'll de-glaze mine. AND IT WAS THE ONLY PART I EVER BOUGHT THAT WAS WARRANTEED FOR UP TO 2 YEARS.!!!
    I may be a little off on a couple of those hp. Numbers. Theyre in california.

    • @junkerup
      @junkerup  6 років тому

      johnny begood to me gearvendors is a waste, overdrive a518 trans are 150-400 all day long with lock up converter and a better overdrive ratio then gearvendors. Just rebuild, buy adapter bellhousing and then new converter. Way cheaper then gearvendors
