    I'm 60 this year and have been taking 3 tablets for my blood pressure since I was 30 and I'm grateful that they are available. For some changing their lifestyle can have an impact on their blood pressure but despite significant changes to mine my blood pressure can only be kept under control with medication. As a registered Nurse of nearly 40 years (now enjoying retirement) it has been amazing to work through significant medical advances where today people have the opportunity to live longer healthier lives. I live in Australia so our health system is very different to America. Medications are part funded. I have recently started the FAST 800 which I think is similar to what you do Beth. I eat between 11am to 7pm and have a varied Mediterranean diet. Since doing this I have noticed my skin is glowing and I'm sleeping so much better.

    Some of us are on life-saving medications to treat disease. Diet and exercise are important, in combination with supplements, positive outlook, meditation--all can support the medications we need to treat chronic disease. Zero point zero prescriptions is not a realistic goal for many of us, especially over 65.

      Yes, some people are prescribed life-saving medications. This segment in no way discourages the use of prescription medicine. However, I will always encourage each of us to take a hard long look at our lifestyle, diet, and exercise. Each of these components are important to life a healthy and happy life.

    I am 65 and suffered from hypertension but I got it down with diet to 117/72. I walk and do a workout a few times a week. My doctor hasn’t reduced or removed my hypertension drugs. I’m hoping to be off them soon. What type of exercise do you do Beth?

      Congratulations! Hard work pays off!
      I go to Pilates three or four times a week, Orange Theory strength training and walks with my German Shepherd, Oscar.
