    You can easily move files via hitting cmd + alt + v :) - no need to copy and delete afterwards!

    Thanks for this video. I made the rookie-misstake and deleted all my tracks from "download list" . But somehow I'm still able to play them through Rekord box anyway... But after watching this i searched for some tracks in Mac-finder and it seems like the songs are collected at some Music app on my computer... Anyway, should I move all this into a new folder at my computer? I feel super disorganized right now...😩

      Organising music is very much a personal preference with so many possible ways of doing it that any one of 1000s could work for you. In this course I tried to concentrate more on using the app than pushing my own personal preference onto anyone. Later on in the course I do talk about using Intelligent Playlists to organise your music automatically:

    Just to make sure I understand. If I drag all my music into one main Rekordbox folder on my computer and as a back up, keep all my music also on an external hard drive, then lets say my computer crashes and I buy a new one. I could download Rekordbox again on the new computer, transfer the music from the external hard drive into a Rekordbox folder and then Rekordbox itself, use the 'relocate' feature inside Rekordbox so it could find the tracks again?? and everything would be exactly as I had it saved before?? With all cue points, memory points, playlists and everything?

    I recently installed rekordbox and imported music via a usb stick and now the directory of 95% of my music is D:\PIONEER\Contents\ , where there is basically a thousand subfolders for each individual artist. how am i supposed to update that? im hoping the answer isnt that i should make a subfolder for each track i wanna add :(

      Yes, the folder you use to store your tracks for Recordbox should be on your computer hard drive or an external drive but not your DJ USB stick - Rekorbox will handle syncing the tracks from your Rekordbox library onto your USB stick.

    Can you for example have a folder called "new music" and put all your new tracks in there for say, a month or so. Then add it to the rest of your collection of tracks later on? Will they still get picked up even if thats the "default" folder or not?

    • @DirtySecretz
      @DirtySecretz  2 роки тому

      When you move them Rekordbox will probably tell you it can’t find them next time you start it up. You can easily relocate them in Rekordbox afterwards, it’s just a step you’ll need to add in each time you move something. I usually keep all of my tracks in the same folder because there is no need to separate them into sub folders as that’ll have no impact on how you organise it in Rekordbox. You can quite easily setup an Intelligent Playlist to just include tracks you’ve added in the last 30 days. You don’t need to do anything other than add the tracks to Rekordbox then, that playlist will automatically add new tracks and remove tracks from itself once they’re older than 30 days.

    wish I found this video earlier… already have hundreds of music imported to rekordbox from my downlods and it alwqys bothered me I can’t move them from there.
    I already have most of my music set to cues and other stuff so don’t want to lose them by deleting all anf migranting them to a folder. Any suggestions?

    • @DirtySecretz
      @DirtySecretz  2 роки тому

      You don't need to delete them from Rekordbox and add them again - just move the track to a new folder then relocate it in Rekordbox. One the file is moved go to Rekordbox and to the File menu and choose "Display Missing Files". This will then allow you relocate where you've put that track and you won't then lose the cues.

    Great tutorials! Question, why can't one just use the itunes folder for rekordbox? Why does one need to make a second folder? In your example "RekordBox DJ" Folder... why not just use the same itunes folder?

    • @suzybee123
      @suzybee123 2 роки тому

      I ask because all my music is currently in iTunes folder, so would one duplicate all the music for a second folder? "RekordBox DJ" Folder? But why?

    • @DirtySecretz
      @DirtySecretz  2 роки тому +1

      If you manage your music in iTunes you could certainly do this, my videos are from a stand point where you're starting fresh with no music management system. You could use your iTunes folder and import that into Rekordbox however I would question why you'd be organising it in iTunes first and then again in Rekordbox?

    • @suzybee123

    • @DirtySecretz
      @DirtySecretz  2 роки тому +1

      @@suzybee123 I don't think there's any quick way to do it, especially with that amount of tracks but there shouldn't be any problem with you using the iTunes folder as your source - just make sure if you remove iTunes in the future that it doesn't remove that folder. Having sub-folders like the ones iTunes creates won't have any impact on Rekordbox, it's the reason I say it's fine just to have the one folder because it's in Rekordbox you do the organisation so the folder structure has very little impact other than your own personal taste.

    Do I have to store all my music in my laptop? Because I got so many music and it will eat too much space on my laptop. Can’t I just store my music in a usb and when I plug my usb will it recognise it from there?

    • @DirtySecretz
      @DirtySecretz  2 роки тому +1

      You can store your music on an external drive if you want, you just must make sure that drive is plugged in before you launch Rekordbox otherwise your tracks will show as missing.

    If I do it the way you explain but later decide put sub folders within that main folder, will rekordbox still find them? TIA

    • @DirtySecretz
      @DirtySecretz  3 роки тому

      If you did put them in sub folders afterwards it would still count as moving them. Rekordbox looks for a track in exactly the same location that you first added it so if it is moved it will show an error. Relocating it isn't very hard though, it just might be time consuming depending on how many sub folders you end up having.

    What do you do when you add new music to your main folder but then it all gets mixed in and you still need to move them to your collection but you cant find them now?

    • @DirtySecretz
      @DirtySecretz  2 роки тому +1

      In your collection if you go to the columns at the top and make sure the 'Date Added' column is showing you can then easily sort your collection by the date you imported tracks. So when it comes to a week and you're adding X amount of tracks to your collection, if you have it sorted by date added all of the tracks you are adding that day will be at the top. By default I always have my collection sorted by Date Added so I can do exactly that.

    • @davidonthefly1449
      @davidonthefly1449 2 роки тому

      @@DirtySecretz are you saying the columns in rekordbox? Because I'm downloading the music into the downloads file on windows, then dragging to my collection folder. Once I do that I can only see date modified. Which usually is my download date. So once I drag them into the file explorer they go all over and I lose them. Am I missing something?

    • @DirtySecretz
      @DirtySecretz  2 роки тому +1

      @@davidonthefly1449 Yes, I'm talking about the 'Date Added' column within Rekordbox. On a Mac there is also a 'Date Added' column within the finder (file explorer) so if you're wanting to see the latest added files in finder you can sort by that. If you're looking from the file explorer on Windows I'm guessing you could probably use the Date Modified column to sort by files that were created/download/updated last.

    Rekordbox is so bad that it makes you recreate every folder if you already have it organized on your external drive
