UNRWA Funding, Explained: Why the US CUT Donations for Humanitarian Aid in Gaza [WEB EXCLUSIVE]

In recent weeks, The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), announced it may have to stop their humanitarian aid operations. Amid a humanitarian crisis, UNRWA is at risk of losing over $665 million dollars in donations.
This came after many countries pulled their funding from the agency amid allegations by Israel that 12 UNRWA staff members were involved in the October 7 Hamas attack.
The United States, Germany, Switzerland, Canada, The Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Italy, Australia and Finland have either suspended or are reviewing their donations to UNRWA.
At the same time, the United States Senate just passed a $95 billion package with aid for Ukraine and Israel.
Why is the United States pouring billions of dollars into Israel’s military operations, and pulling millions out of UNRWA? We need funding for humanitarian aid, not weapons.

Do they still get donations from citizens? Or if I personally donate to UNRWA is the US government blocking them from using it to help Palestinians? Or is it that the American government is not giving funding to UNRWA?
I want to donate but if American gov is blocking them from using there money I'd like to find a more immediate way for the support to get to those who need it.

That is a valid concern. But at least I see that UNRWA have been active on the ground on Gaza. So have been trying to donate them. I think if you are unsure about whether US can block the donation we can consider to donate through Spain branch of UNWRA. Their gov. have been acting humanely toward this crisis and even increased the fundings.
