just because I started watching your videos constantly and consistently for 2 months. I was able to drive a normal sedan off road without issues. it was the only car available and I was asked to get some important instruments for a newly wedded couple a day before there wedding. this was of recent. I was smiling all the way and just been grateful for all the extreme off-road videos have watched. I can't wait to get an SUV as my First vehicle.
Cool seeing that Land Rover out there. I have a Wrangler myself but I LOVE seeing other vehicles on the trail that you don't often see. I was on Hurricane Creek a year or so ago and saw a Defender out there. Super cool.
Matt and Cara!!!! Just got back from a cleanup up north and sat down to watch - AMAZING! Holy cats, you captured the beauty of these trails so well. It was so good to have you with us at Overland the Red!!! Thanks so much for EVERYTHING! For the ladies ride, the Gaia class, and just being great ambassadors for our community. Love you guys, see you soon!
You mix those off-road trails with The Kentucky Bourbon Trail, you might have a very strong argument that this is the best off-roading East of the Mississippi!
Hi Matt, good to see the Conqueror again. Quick share, we took our steps off both sides and carry one two step and one three step Little Giant Ladders. They store on the floor of the camper just inside the door. It makse it so easy to get in and out of the camper now - especially at night if you have to make a potty run. Just thought we would share. We did plug the hotels where the bolts went that hold the steps, we also added a Propex heater where the Heat Pump was - easy install nad way more useful for our use. We use our UEV 490 a lot, just now charged and unplugged the batteries - went with Battle Born's a few years ago and love the added efficiency of the lithium over the old AGM's. Hope to cross paths someday. Thanks for sharing.
100% agree with what you said at about 9:30 into the video. The trash is usually not from the overlanders and etc. As a matter of fact, most of us do the cleaning, that I have seen. Very glad you pointed that out! And thanks for inspiring.
dang it man. I was up in that area, visiting some friends that live quite near there, just ONE week before.... I wish I would have known ya'll were coming up there, I would have rescheduled ...oh well... it is absolutely a beautiful area to wheel, and camp ,and just enjoy nature... great video as always , Matt.
Awesome Matt. I’ve been up there 3 times from AL. Love old finecastle . Idk if y’all did mountain springs road but that’s another tough fun trail. It’s harder than finecastle but fun.
Great video as always. Can't wait for part 2. It was very nice meeting you and Cara. And it was such a pleasure getting to wheel with you all. Since I got into the jeep community and started doing trail rides it was a dream to wheel with you all and Coddiwomple Overland. And I got to do that on the same ride! Thank you so very much!!
If you wanna run some fun trails in the KY/TN area, start on the KAT where you started on your last trip but run East. There are a couple of fun sections between there and Jellico, TN. And then from there, there are a TON of fun spots all the along the WVA line up to VA. I think that section has some of the most technical portions. You def need to do the trail up to Hensley Settlement. It's fun and the settlement is a cool spot to check out.Make sure you have a chain saw with you as well! I was up in KY the same weekend as your trip here and wound up having to use my winch and an axe to clear a trail. A lot of work and I def won't forget my chainsaw ever again!
I love that shirt you got on Matt.(be kind to each other) When I was younger my first vehicle was a Jeep Cherokee sport and all my buddies had Suzuki samurai and Toyota trucks and land cruisers. They would all rip on me for having a Jeep And I say who cares what you have let's just go out and have fun. Anyways love the video I'm from southern Ohio so we would wheel down there all the time.
I have watched a lot of overlanding videos and a significant number of your videos, and I think this may have been my favorite so far. Also the night drive looks like a lot of fun. Keep up the great work.
Hi Matt, Cara and Goose loved the trails, rain and the strong fellowship in the off-roading community. It’s ashamed the local communities do damage to the wildlife and trails. Thank you for all you do! 🚗🚙
Really enjoyed the videos when you wheeled with all the guys . That was some great off-road driving and you had a good mix of vehicles. Plus you did some tough trails.
I have watched many of your videos by now. I'm an East Coaster . Looks beautiful there without a doubt. The beautiful fall nice trails and per your opinion great camping as well. Loved everything about what i saw in the great trip. On my bucket list and likely with visit more than once or twice to enjoy all the area has to offer. Fantastic video!!!!! HEY Cara how are you liking the Clayton Overland +? That was my choice for 1 of next mods to my 21 JLUR. May i ask if you went with the entire kit as is? Which shocks did you go with? Love the Tuscadero! Love Coddiwomple as well! ❤✌️
Your videos are amazing. I've learned alot from watching your videos. Been looking forward to doing this. An now that I'm able. I'll be making my first trip out to Colorado at the end of May. But first I'll be doing some kAT being close to home in April I hope. Thanks for the information you put out about being prepared for what might be needed An helpful 👍
The dumping gets to me too. I relocated from WA St a few years back to AR and when I lived in WA the dumping had got to the point that all the major timber companies had either gated or tank trenched their roads and eventually made them pay for play only. As an avid steelhead and salmon fisherman it was sad to see fishing hole access cut off to the rivers and streams that my family fished for generations. The pay for play access became too expensive for the average working guy so I was stuck doing the combat fishing at public access points. Carry it out, keep it clean and you'll have access forever, leave a mess and its only a matter of time before the gates and tank trenches become the norm.
Was there with a group of jeepers from southern Missouri on the 15th. Stayed at the campground and did the tunnel. Can't wait to get back there and explore more of that area. Great video
I haven't wheeled Kentucky yet but the entire state of Vermont is like a giant off-road park with it's class IV roads system! New Hampshire is similar.
I agree totally about the trash. The off road community usually gets blamed for this type of behavior. However most of the off roaders I’ve been with not only clean up their own trash but also clean up the areas we visit. Same for boating communities, and camping areas we’ve visited.
The trash is absolutely locale's we have the same problem in the smoky mountains in western NC. It really gets my drawers in a bunch why would anyone want to trash up where they live. Great Vids by the way I'm building my new Gladiator Rubicon and loving it so far.
Matt, it’s nuts that between Arkansas and Indiana Kentucky is that state for many of us to find a place in the Midwest-ish to actually off road and overland without going 1200 miles west.
Great video! You can really tell how much IFS on the defender is not meant for challenging trails. When it’s on three wheels a lot of times. Just like the bronco. I think that’s why Brad on trail recon didn’t think his was as capable as a Jeep.
Hey Matt, I've been eyeing the same Oracle tail lights that you are running. I see that Caras driver side tail light was having issues. I also saw Shaun on TSTN having issues with his Oracle driverside tail lights. Is this an issue with the Oracle brand? What do you think is causing these issues? Just curious what your thought are before I pull the trigger. Great video, as always!
The reason you see the garbage like that is the dumps charge to take stuff... vs just free... Not saying its right, but its economics poor people don't have the money for that
The gorge is a nice area. It isn't really eastern Kentucky, it;s just east-central Kentucky, but it's nice anyway. Some good 4 wheeling and climbing in the area.
Super cool system - thanks for sharing

We missed you guys by a week. We were at Callies the weekend before. Did Nada tunnel, Spaas creek and pumpkin.
Great video! Thanks Matt and Cara
Good to see you in our DBBB backyard. Great video and hope you had a great trip!
It was awsome!!
I have enjoyed the time we have spent in Kentucky. Did some of the DBBB/KAT last fall. I really need to go back to finish what I started.
Oh wow that’s some beautiful country up there! Great video you guys.

What a beautiful area. The colors are awesome. It's probably my favorite time of year to go exploring. 👌
The Nada Tunnel is awesome. Going through the day is even better, once you come out and see all the cliffs and rock out croppings it so beautiful

Matt,
Just watched this on the tellie and wanted to check in here to help the algorithm and say 👍 Hope to see you again at Oark one day.
D
Awesome, thank you!
Great to meet you briefly while down there. Hopefully we can hit a trail together at some point down the road.
I have watched a lot of overlanding videos and a significant number of your videos, and I think this may have been my favorite so far. Also the night drive looks like a lot of fun. Keep up the great work.
Wow, thank you!
Enjoyed seeing a diesel jeep out there with you
Great video as always. I love it to see how different all the vehicles eat the obstacles. Awesome terrain.
Thanks! I do too!!
You guys are fast becoming my favorite channel. Keep up the good work.
I’ll try and go faster. 😂
@@OzarkOverlandAdventures 😂
@@OzarkOverlandAdventures I hope you’re feeling better also

Great meeting you too.

Are you meaning part of this video or previous videos with my friends in the Ozarks?
In the ozarks . I think the last time you guys ran the trails in Colorado.
@@tonypanozzo2928 Our last time together was in March in Moab. We have trips planned in 2024 together.
Love it!
Thanks!!
The DBBB isba great ride. Beautiful area. Thanks for the video! 👍👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it
So cool, loved the angles on the off camber stuff, felt like we were there 🫶
Thanks for watching guys!!!!
Another great video of a cool adventure! Thanks for sharing Kentucky with us! Just missing the banjo background music 😁
🤗🏆🙏🇺🇲

I have the Elka shocks and I LOVE my suspension.
I was at this event and had a blast and got to meet you and say hi. What size tires are on the Defender? Keep up the good work
Very cool Ty

I live about an hour east of the Gorge in Pike County. It is beautiful country.
Was there with a group of jeepers from southern Missouri on the 15th. Stayed at the campground and did the tunnel. Can't wait to get back there and explore more of that area. Great video

Beautiful video, Matt. I would like to know more about that winch?
As a Californian, I have never seen trees in so many colors. It’s usually brown or burnt
Yeah it does! I love going down there since it’s the closest place to wheel that’s worth going to from Cleveland Ohio!
Underwater kayaking? Do they also offer open air scuba diving?
Hard to beat Northern Michigan for four wheeling. Snow, mud, sand, got it all.
Great video. Bad timing and didn’t get up there. Looks like a great event!

Always impressed where you take your rig. I think you've said you are running 38's on clayton 3.5" lift? What gears are you running?
Cera did you guys stur up those Kentucky Wood boogers. LOL
What was the last trail around 39’? Described as mild.
Is it just me or was a song from Lord of the Rings playing at the 18 minute mark lol
LOL. Couldn't get a license for that.

the defender needs to do a 1.5 lift and put on 33 or 35 tires
If you’re talking about Danielle’s Defender it has that.
Hey Matt did you do photography before UA-cam? Or did you learn videography as things progressed?
I did. Photography is actually what prompted me to buy my first Jeep.
I have a few questions. I know you guys do off-roading can you do I ice roads?
We don’t have ice roads. 🤷🏼♂️
Hey sorry where do you guys get those patches on you’re roof do you buy them online anywhere or how do you get them?
We get a lot of them at different expos and events.
Wait when the guitar and banjo start playing
Land Rover or 4 runner? Which is more capable?
depends on the driver
Can't you see more if you take the top off.
Of course.
The reason you see the garbage like that is the dumps charge to take stuff... vs just free... Not saying its right, but its economics poor people don't have the money for that
“Danielle’s very scared, very nervous” of a mud hole. Really?! Get out of here.
😂
That is not a landyacht. Try driving my diesel excursion down trails like these. We do a lot in the tn mountains. Another great video dude.
