I want to point out that the psychiatric hospital order isn't an automatic life sentence the way people are talking about it. It's an "indefinite hold" because the courts don't know if the person can be rehabilitated and how long that could take. It could be fifty days or fifty years. The problem is that a doctor would have to sign off that the person was no longer a danger to themselves and society. A lot of doctors don't want to take that liability, so it's easier to leave someone languish in a mental institution than take the risk of signing a release order and then getting sued because the person they released reoffended afterwards. Hense why people sent to mental institutions typically have stays that far exceed what their jail/prison time would have been.
The other thing people get wrong about the "insanity defense" is that, at least with a lot of US States, one of the conditions is that once the hospital releases the accused, they're brought back to court to stand trial and receive sentencing. I know my state, Arizona, has such a provision. (I remember it being enacted in the 1990's, but that might be me misremembering it.)
*Hence
So True. Here in Connecticut, we have the Whiting Maximum Security Service and story is beyond “insane”
This is UK law so it may be different
thank you for expanding on this! this is very informative
Do you believe that crap you said? You people have no idea what those "hospitals" REALLY are...CHEMICAL LOBOTOMIES ARE A VIOLATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS...You think they're gonna "cure" anyone there? LOL
Sheeple.
The kid didn’t know to keep his mouth shut. Makes me think he didn’t have a lawyer or have a good one. Be interested in cyber security & want to further your career/life with these skills but manifesto’ing after being caught doesn’t mean you’re getting hired at the end of the day. Anyways hope it was planned out, hope he gets his freedom, hope he never sees the Pinkertons.
Wonder if asperger's or some form of autism.
Is clearly able to lie if social engineering, tho not in this case.
We really don't have much information but this sounds like more then "didn't have a lawyer" to me.
Or he talked before he got a lawyer.
To be completely honest, I have personally beat a large amount of cases and received bail at will for calling Competence. He most likely will have a better time at a mental facility than a federal hold. FYI all cyber crime in the United States is a federal offense which is always classified as a felon, a federal offense is a felon, not all felonies are federally offenses. Even using a person's wifi network unauthorized is 2-3 federal offenses if charges are pressed. This is a large scale attack on aprivate company so if you ask me he got luck and now can fight for early release under a conditional discharge, also if he's not 21 he'll ha e to under go are eval and depending on if he was found not guilt due to competency or Insanity the words matters and level of court the sealed the order, other courts can adopt an order from another court.
you were an attorney? @@SirNoLifer
*"He is sick and he might fall out of a window"*
Keep up the great work, Ali. I'm enjoying the frequent posts.
🏴☠️😎🏴☠️
Wait, only $10m in damages? Wow. Life for $10m, without a trial. If he were rich, he'd get a slap on the wrist over chump change like that.
i think it was also his consistent expressed interest of returning to crime without remorse
Morse, Diamond... where do you all get these names?
Great job this year Ali Diamond! You're doing a great job and keep up the great work keeping us all up to date! Thanks and see you next year!
Happy holidays Hak5 and friends!
Your amazing Ali! Have a wonderful new year! See you in the wires.
Awesome 😊 Merry Xmas!
Slay Queen I like your style and how you keep bloopers in the video
This just shows how unwilling the US legal system and that jury and/or thar judge is in dealing with mental health issues. People can be rehabilitated and redirected into constructive paths if they are given the care that they need and likely needed most of their life but weren't receiving.
The guy lives in the UK. Not everyone in the world falls under your weird jurisdiction. And concerning the "unwilling to deal with metal health issues" argument: That's exactly what they did, didn't they? They send him to a hospital instead of a prison to be treated. And if you think about it for a second, how would you describe a person that is under arrest and confirms to the court that once he is released, he will commit crimes again, other than mentally ill? That's not what a sane person would do.
Dang! A life sentence for hacking a game, but you can drop bombs on people and not do a day..... 🤯
The system isn't what it seems eh?
you get less time snuffing someone out
Awesome job Ali! Darren chose well. You're doing a great job and I am excited to see you mold into this new asventure as the coming year progresses. Hope you have a very Happy New Year!!!
💕💕💕 thank you
I think it'll be a case of you'll get out when you agree to work with us.
No, it's a case that he'll get out when a doctor feels he's no longer going to be a liability risk if the doctor signs off on the release order. Also, depending on where he is, the stay only prolongs any sentencing hearing. That's the way it's in my state. The mental hospital isn't a "get out of jail free" card, just delays the inevitable.
so he's not really staying there in life? just if the state medical board believes he is no longer a risk@@jackielinde7568
Can't be that good at social engineering since he could have just said he wouldn't hack again and had a short sentence.
Like a mouse to meth IMHO! They just want MOAR!!
so really it was all on him
Really the employees at R* were probably just following their training. He probably knew what the R* employees were trained to do in certain situations and just had to keep pounding pavement until someone bites.
Why the Amazon Firestick was used though I beyond me
They gave him LIFE IN AN ASYLUM, and we all know that no one ever gets out of those.
Yes, they are trying establish a precedent by making an example out of an autistic child.
just seems cruel especially to someone with Autism
It's not a sentence of life in an asylum, it's indefinite based on rehabilitation. He, and his doctors and family are fully aware of this. Someone who acknowledges they did something wrong, shows no remorse and is motivated to repeat the wrongdoing can't simply be let off free without consequence. I'm not so sure on the current recommendation though, it does seem harsh on the surface, maybe as more cybercrime becomes prevalent we'll learn how to better handle cases like this.
What else are you supposed to do with someone who clearly stated they will commit more crimes if they are released?
Thank you, Good Job.
25 likes and the video hasn't even been out long enough to finish it lol
Hey Hack5 team! So great to see you making amazing progress, Ali 🤗 It's a hard thing to do and the effort is greatly appreciated 🤩. I can understand and follow easier now, and some of the initial glitches have been covered. It takes time to settle in and the format is quite demanding.
More gaming related content, especially about cheaters in games like Escape From Tarkov. The hacking community in cheater circles in games is a huge criminal enterprise most people would be shocked to know exist.
Fantastic!
Who wants to create a factitious company with me to get a one-on-one with Ali
Great Job Ali! Hope you have a lovely next few days.
People should be protesting this. Wtf
Awesome segment. Found out about the GTA 6 Hack recently in 2023, did'nt know it was in 2022! Clearly that guy sounds highly intelligent, clandestine organisation should hire him!😮😮😮
Enjoyed watching another Threatwire post. Thinking about becoming a Threatwire patreon again, but the thing that is holding me back is when I read about the perks on patreon they don’t seem to line up to what is happening with the show. I wanted to mention this since you said you’re meeting up with the Hak5 team to work on where the show will be going for the new year.
I remember getting an OpenSSH update this weekend on my Debian server. I guess that was it.
This episode was good ali. Keep up the good work
Threatwire is perfect the way it is, I have no input. Your doing great Ali 👍
There's a lot of room for your improvements. I wish your presentation had a bit of connection with the news you're providing. I guess you can practice more. Happy holidays and have a great new year
Such an ironic case 😂
Life though? Wtf!!!!
Thanks Ali. Love the show. Onward and upward
💕💕 thank you!
Book Club!
Doesn’t get caught: completely normal kid
Gets caught: hey I have a mental disability
I say he serves years in a mental home if he’s mentally disabled or years in prison if he is not and then made to pay the money back until he dies.
where is snubs? I can literally see this lady reading the teleprompter.
Even tho you do a perfect job, i sttill miss having shannon Morse on Threadwire
****That kid could have been a valuable asset, just needs goals reoriented.
Awesome show, Ali! Really enjoyed it!
more news stories longer videos please
Happy new year 2024
The GTA thing was nuts, typically someone like that gets hired, but he got life in prison. The more I look into it, the less sense it makes.
Somebody wants him on ice.
Doing amazing work! Keep it up ❤❤❤
If kid can hack from TV, what not-script-kiddie do with radio?
Happy to see more consistent uploads
Watch him hack his way out of Hospital
❤
What does social engineering have to do with hacking?
the mental hospital will get tortured with hacks i see it coming
probably a few Russian friends
yeah i figure we will hear follow up stores about how he got around the attempted barriers
lol he only need to use hes social engineering skills to get out by get them to believe he won't do it again!
We. Couldn't do our job with out you info.
You did a great job!!
Your Doing great Ali 💯
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
FIRST
LETS GO
2 things
1) used a new teleprompter, i am working on it!!!
2) need to center myself better lol
@@endingwithali See my post and dont be afraid to experiment. Again: it needs time and effort to get it right. In the end, the content is what counts 😄
@@endingwithali BTW, "new teleprompter" means you can get used to one! That's a good thing 😉 Even if they have the same brand in venues, the distance, the lighting (esp the tiny reflections on glass-reflection ones) and everything else makes it a challenge every time.
@@endingwithalione last thought, then I'm all out of engagement: Check your pulse! For a lot of humans, when the pulse is down, the delivery is better ♥
Good work Ali. Thank you.
Ali 🎉❤
You've been doing a great job Ali
2023 12 27 😊
yeah we didnt get around to editing it yesterday, but i filmed it on christmas, so i hope thats ok
You got this Ali!!
Lets be real the kid will end up getting a job offer soon. Cybercrime be like that.
His single-minded focus is what made him a good hacker. You'll never "cure" him of that focus. Government should give him a job and have him doing something positive with his skill set.
so his superbrain of Aspergers really
yes definitely - wish i could work as hard as him! however, given his actions and his expressed interested in going back to crime do you believe giving him a government job is the right thing?
I think you should say "US Dollars" rather than USD. Just sounded weird that you kept saying it.
Remember how he got the credentials, he's only a social engineer and did a phishing attack to obtain creds. Good lesson why you shouldn't be some script kiddie.
isn't the Rockstar Games employee or staff responsible too if he still falls for a script kiddie method like you say
@@KGBSpyGeorgeCostanza For sure, did you see them getting in trouble?
@@TradieTrev catching up on the story and well I admit I'm not an egghead on social engineering but more of interested aswell as cybersecurity
@@KGBSpyGeorgeCostanza If you have physical access to a device game is over. I take security risks full on and would only operate them on an local situation and never connect them to the web.
Yet with covid they opened up a whole bunch of old school scada devices to the web!
Do whatever it is you need to do to get Shannon back. Hak5 is not what it used to be...
Great Video - KEEP THEM COMING!
(RIP TechTV)
Anyone know if "Ali" is single because she's really cute 😆😍 (assuming that's her real name and she isn't a Romanian operative hired to infiltrate opsec companies)
Shannon. 😂 It’s just not the same.
usa....?
Indefinite hospital order, that is disgusting, this a shameful point in humanity.
mmmm idk he has autism, it seems a bit better than being in a federal prison
ahh again, please fix the height of the camera
Where's Shanon?
The first
This women is gorgeous
They should have given him a job. Anyway, someone will 💯
hopefully he has a change of heart and moves toward doing more legal hacking.
Puritan
I like hackers❤❤❤❤
It's only me that doesn't understand what is going on in this videos??
I'd say you need a Lil practice reading a prompter. I don't think the movement of your head is helping much. 😂
The problem is the hacking community in general, who have largely taken over the gaming community online. I mean really, just look at call of duty. Keyboard warriors playing God, this guy got exactly what he deserved. The lack of integrity, and honesty is very obvious with this more than dangerous community. Unfortunately the younger generation doesn't mind promoting, or defending this guy. That's pretty obvious in the comments section to say the least, I mean give me a break
Good content, but was painful to watch.
Lemme correct your sentence: A highly impressionable teenager was manipulated by highly skilled hackers and got life in prison. I bet you that kid knows nothing about hacking and was only the weird autistic kid they used to put the blame on. 😊
👏👏
Also those dimples… omg
Does each one of ur eyes have a different zip code?
Ali is pretty ngl
oh yeah also SENTENCED TO LIFE
No disrespect to Ali but the stuttering speech made this really difficult to follow…
Hey hi, Good work Hak5. @endingwithAli, you're doing great!
