  • I have wanted to make a coffee tamper for ages, to replace the crappy one that came with the machine.
I got given a whole lot of aluminium heat-syncs/couplers for industrial electronics, the perfect thickness for the bass.
The wood for the handle is from an old blue gum tree that fell in the giant winds we had a few years ago, i helped a mate cut them up and got a bunch as firewood.

That settles it... I need a lathe. Great job. I think your camera auto focus is making the shots a little buggy.

Yea Its a bit annoying. I think I will try a different camera. I'm currently just using my phone which cant focus at this length. I love this old southbend lathe, should really get a wood lathe though

+Tamperista haha yea it was a lot of work, deffinatly wouldnt go to these lengths again, but learned a lot in the process to make it easier and faster for next time or for similar projects. coffee is amazing, even from one of those in home machines, just getting the grinds tamperd in properly makes a huge difference, especially cos its a cheep machine
