It was delayed so this game was supposed to come out early December. Idk if there would have been enough time since Reverie was only 5 months ago. Also Anime only would be getting a terrible spoiler. I'd have been so salty had it been spoiled for me. audibly gasped. So hype.

It looks so cool, and it had so much potential, it's a crying shame that they missed the mark. I hope they try again with a sequel, or better yet make what everyone's thinking a one piece game should be, that being a full open world RPG with your own custom character, though I acknowledge how difficult and pricey/risky that is to make.

The success of this game will be a starting point for One Piece becoming an open world game. As Naruto started from Ultimate Ninja (PS2) and Improving into Ultimate Ninja Storm (PS3-PS4) And Dragon Ball started from Budokai Tenkaichi (probably older) and improving into Xenoverse. Bandai Namco must keep One Piece game consistent in genre and content to improve exponentially.

I see so many people asking for a game where you can create your own crew all that, but personally, I'd rather play through the whole story up till now in a game. One Piece is unique because instead of it being about how the world changes the main character, its about how the main character changes the world. Additionally, you're asking for the impossible, creating a well-balanced create your own character-based story on the premise of One Piece would be a nightmare, especially since most of you are begging for a mmorpg. Devil Fruits range from the ability to edit someones memories all the way to being able to cause earthquakes, and if you limit the Devil fruits to a combat-based bunch of abilities that are all equally balanced you'd eliminate so many of the known fruits that the variability that makes Devil Fruits unique would be killed off in the process. Not to mention the fact that every devil fruit would need its own move scheme, etc. and because of how devil fruits work if you ever wanted to play with a different fruit you would have to create a whole new character, and just hope that you can find the one you want before you get killed by somebody who already got a devilfruit. Its simply not a functional game concept.
There are plenty of One Piece games that let you play through the entire story. (Up to they point they were published) Aside from skipping some of the smaller island arcs like Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, etc.
