A Guided Tour of Swami Tadatmananda's Ashram - Arsha Bodha Center

  • Several people have requested a video tour of Arsha Bodha Center, the beautiful ashram where Swami Tadatmananda has lived and taught for the past 23 years. Arsha Bodha means wisdom of the rishis, the sages of ancient India.
Arsha Bodha Center is located on a country road in a serene, leafy part of Central New Jersey, surrounded by fields, forests, and farms. Here, you can truly see why New Jersey is called the "Garden State." Yet, it's in the midst of one of the most highly populated areas of the country, easily accessible to spiritual seekers who want to learn and practice meditation or immerse themselves in in traditional study of the Bhagavad Gita, Upanishads, works of Shankaracharya, and other works on Advaita Vedanta.
In 1986, Swami Tadatmananda moved to his guru's ashram, Arsha Vidya Gurukulam, in Pennsylvania's Pocono Mountains. There, he studied under the renowned traditional teacher of Advaita Vedanta, Swami Dayananda. After being ordained as a Hindu monk and teaching there for many years, Swami Tadatmananda left the ashram with his guru's blessings in 2000 to establish Arsha Bodha Center.
All are welcome to visit the ashram. It is open during classes. The current schedule is:
Saturdays: 10 am - Guided Meditation, 11 am - Bhagavad Gita Class
    Sundays: 10 am - Vedanta Class, 11 am - Satsang (informal Q&A)
During summer, Satsang is held at 6 pm in the lovely picnic area, and the Vedanta Class is on hiatus.
Please note: the ashram has no residential facilities.
Swami Tadatmananda is a traditionally-trained teacher of Advaita Vedanta, meditation, and Sanskrit. For more information, please see: www.arshabodha.org/

I am repeating my question here.
Does the centre sell Tadadmanandha’s lectures in books and if so where are they available? If not, why not do it now, please, for the sake of people like me who have a hearing problem?

Nobody needs to be a hindu when one is looking for self discovery through Advait Vedanta which swamiji is teaching. Rather, teachings of this is a way of intelligent living without any attachements and thereafter any sorrow and thats why its called sanatan as it persisted through thousands of years. Anything which gives purity of mind is appreciable and practiced. I m a Hindu and like others performed the rituals in a routine way like going to temples and praying God to keep me well on health and material, like 99.999% hindus do. When I came through Vedanta, I am literally changed, my attitude changed, my thinking changed. Earlier I was discovering God but now, I m understanding God. For that I have to understand myself which advait Vedanta teaches us , finally to tell u u r no different that God.

Traditonally, only few text of the great Bhāsyakara are recognized as such; bhaja govindam is not among them.
The Advitīya Parampara recognized only the Prasthānatraya Bhāsya (commentary on Upanisad, Bhagavadgītā and Brahmasūtra), Upadeśasahasri and few other text.

Among the hundreds of works that popular opinion has attributed to Śamkara, the majority were not written by the great Master. it must be taken into account that, since the disappearance of who has since been called Adiśamkarācārya, his legitimate successors of the Pītham were designated with his name used as a title. Furthermore, in the various Paramparā, quite many masters appear who have taken "Śamkara" as their initiatory name; their writings circulate freely as the works of a Śamkarācārya or a Śamkara, without there originally being any countroversy intent. what is certain is that such a proliferation of works has caused confusion regarding the identity of the author.
Traditionally, His works are divided into 4 categories: the Bhāsyas, the Prakaranas, the Stotras and the Tantric hymns. Bhāja Govinda, would belong to the Stotras. there are more than 240 odes-stotra attributed to Śamkara. due to the very nature of this scriptural genre, it is difficult to adequately address them without the aid of a commentary or an oral explanation by a qualified interpreter. the most rigorous Gurus of Advaita Vedānta agree in considering certain Stotras of Śamkara the "Daksināmūrti Stotram" and "Advaita Pañcaratnam", considering the authenticity of all other Stotras unverifiable; their brevity and their poetic form make it necessary to read a commentary to grasp the doctrine contained. in this case, it is the commentator's interpretation that leads to a purely Advitīya reading or not, unlike the texts certainly considered by the Master, which objectively are.
      I hope I was clear.
      OM TAT SAT

I appreciate much Swami Dayananda covers his head as Adi Shankaracharya, and I also regard he is the live picture of Adi Shankaracharya. Prophet Mohammad tells his disciples that God messengers (angels) coming down to earth must cover their heads like the way Adi Shankararcharya does.

    • @lsd-gm8sm
      @lsd-gm8sm Рік тому

Muhammad is irrelevant here. Adi Shankara wasn't an angel. His teachings were different from tht of Muhammad. Muhammad taught strict Monotheism of a Creator God while Shankara taught Non Dualism which results into strict or ideal Monism. Muhammad was against the idea of both monism 'nd polytheism which he considered equally blasphemous.
BTW covering head isn't necessary in Hinduism. It's jus a representation of a particular schl of the one who defends Vedic Dharma.
