I remember him with such fondness & cherish the moments we laughed together. I miss talking with him very much. The exquisite divinity within. It is helpful to point out how ordinary awareness is, because awareness is the only factor and principal, without which the movie of life itself - Isvara - could not appear. Nothing else can exist without the divine, the impersonal and eternal light which appears as the knowing principal when Isvara-Maya is operating. Traditional Vedanta is an unbeatable means of Self-knowledge and when a person is ready to let go of their limited id. it will work to end ignorance and it's effects without a doubt. This is because we have the whole Sampradaya of glorious sages who went before trailblazing the way out of dualistic thinking. These Mahatma's create a sacred divine presence to help all those who are alone, all alone to the all-one.
Yes Swami Tadatmananda, I love the rational quality of Vedic knowledge. I also appreciate Spinoza's logic - that God is by necessity = Cause of itself as in the analogy of the dreamer and the more limited metaphor of the spider and its web. The direction of current quantum theory is finally close to recognising consciousness as the fundamental component of the universe - watch this space...I was despairing of the predominantly mechanistic scientific doctrine which seemed to sacrifice logic on the alter of atheism.

is it necesary for spiritual advancement to take a formal Diksha Initiation with a Guru ? or You can take Siksha (instructions) from few Swamis, (for example on UA-cam) and meditate on the teachings and go on without a formal Guru ?
In our Hindu tradition, a personal connection to a Guru has always been considered essential. But it is 2019 now, and we have access to tons of information by books and Internet. It is my humble opinion that whether by a Guru, a book, or a video, the seeker is like a lamp that needs to be lit by another source, like another lamp or a gas lighter or whatever. Once lit, there is no need for the other source of fire to keep igniting the lamp; it is already lit. And let us not forget, that most of us have years of teaching in school and college, of various arts and sciences. There is no one Guru who can teach all of this. The goal is to be discerning in what we want to be taught about. If I go to a Christian seminary I will get brainwashed about that religion, and the same with a Muslim Madrasa. So to repeat, we have to be very careful and very discerning.
A Guru is like a trigger who makes the wood (veil of ignorance) burn but the wood have to be dry. That means person who seek the divine knowledge have to be mature in a sensce. This explained also why when the disciple is ready, the guru appears. I am not an Indian. I learned this from the videos here. The Vedas are the greatest thing mankind has and I love India, Jai Bharat.

What should I do to find a real guru who teaches vedanta with the right methodology? I've been pondering about going to India and finding a trustful guru to stay with and become his disciple, but I'm not sure how I will handle my other life arrangements financially. Could you give any advise on this please?

One morning an old emaciated monk with piercing blue eyes caught me and said, i know times are hard but we "tolerate you", meaning, get lost lol. A year or so later they fenced off the acess to the roof. Then a few years after that i asked the head swami if i could borrow a pillow to sit on and meditate as i planned to go camping and he just sort of shrugged his shoulders and gave me an awkward expression without actually saying anything. Had he been resolute and said Im sorry but we can't, I would not have taken it. Then there was this tall older white dude who ALWAYS sat at the head of the table durimg Sunday feasts, and for some unknown reason he always fashioned himself as someone of importance there and also thought of himself as highly intelligent. I never managed to have an intelligent discourse with him. In short he radiated Tamas. Perhaps age related. Other than that it was a wonderful place that welcomed all visitors.

The exquisite divinity within. It is helpful to point out how ordinary awareness is, because awareness is the only factor and principal, without which the movie of life itself - Isvara - could not appear. Nothing else can exist without the divine, the impersonal and eternal light which appears as the knowing principal when Isvara-Maya is operating. Traditional Vedanta is an unbeatable means of Self-knowledge and when a person is ready to let go of their limited id. it will work to end ignorance and it's effects without a doubt. This is because we have the whole Sampradaya of glorious sages who went before trailblazing the way out of dualistic thinking. These Mahatma's create a sacred divine presence to help all those who are alone, all alone to the all-one.

Yes Swami Tadatmananda, I love the rational quality of Vedic knowledge. I also appreciate Spinoza's logic - that God is by necessity = Cause of itself as in the analogy of the dreamer and the more limited metaphor of the spider and its web. The direction of current quantum theory is finally close to recognising consciousness as the fundamental component of the universe - watch this space...I was despairing of the predominantly mechanistic scientific doctrine which seemed to sacrifice logic on the alter of atheism.

is it necesary for spiritual advancement to take a formal Diksha Initiation with a Guru ? or You can take Siksha (instructions) from few Swamis, (for example on UA-cam) and meditate on the teachings and go on without a formal Guru ?
In our Hindu tradition, a personal connection to a Guru has always been considered essential. But it is 2019 now, and we have access to tons of information by books and Internet. It is my humble opinion that whether by a Guru, a book, or a video, the seeker is like a lamp that needs to be lit by another source, like another lamp or a gas lighter or whatever. Once lit, there is no need for the other source of fire to keep igniting the lamp; it is already lit. And let us not forget, that most of us have years of teaching in school and college, of various arts and sciences. There is no one Guru who can teach all of this. The goal is to be discerning in what we want to be taught about. If I go to a Christian seminary I will get brainwashed about that religion, and the same with a Muslim Madrasa. So to repeat, we have to be very careful and very discerning.
A Guru is like a trigger who makes the wood (veil of ignorance) burn but the wood have to be dry. That means person who seek the divine knowledge have to be mature in a sensce. This explained also why when the disciple is ready, the guru appears. I am not an Indian. I learned this from the videos here. The Vedas are the greatest thing mankind has and I love India, Jai Bharat.
Person who explored the wild forest is always better than any number of guide books & videos. Personal GURU is always better !!!

You can start with simple meditations. Search kriya yoga. Any simple practice is good to start.

What should I do to find a real guru who teaches vedanta with the right methodology? I've been pondering about going to India and finding a trustful guru to stay with and become his disciple, but I'm not sure how I will handle my other life arrangements financially. Could you give any advise on this please?
try to find a guru where you live now, no need to relocate to India probably
Don't go to India. You can learn Vedanta even in the West. Search Ramakrishna Order or Other Vedanta schools in the West.

When I was homeless I slept on the roof of the Vedanta Temple in Hollywood. One morning an old emaciated monk with piercing blue eyes caught me and said, i know times are hard but we "tolerate you", meaning, get lost lol. A year or so later they fenced off the acess to the roof. Then a few years after that i asked the head swami if i could borrow a pillow to sit on and meditate as i planned to go camping and he just sort of shrugged his shoulders and gave me an awkward expression without actually saying anything. Had he been resolute and said Im sorry but we can't, I would not have taken it. Then there was this tall older white dude who ALWAYS sat at the head of the table durimg Sunday feasts, and for some unknown reason he always fashioned himself as someone of importance there and also thought of himself as highly intelligent. I never managed to have an intelligent discourse with him. In short he radiated Tamas. Perhaps age related. Other than that it was a wonderful place that welcomed all visitors.
