One reason that it sounds so good is that the weight on the needle and the thickness of the record were all much heavier back then the machines that were used to cut the grooves made deeper and wider grooves because the material could withstand it but it was at the expense of the range and depth of sound nowadays records and needles are much finer to get the subtle tones but they wouldn't last anywhere near as well as your records and record player from back then
@@classicalhollywoodfilm8378 But are you saying Electric gramophone used something similar to the diamond styluses or are you referring to the better quality ones?
I love the old phonographs, especially the even earlier ones from the 1920’s. I actually plan to buy an electric portable one similar to this at some point in the future!
I have some of those if you want them. Just picked up 100 more records from an antique store and 10 or so are French songs. We won’t listen to them because we don’t understand French.
Hearing the voices of people centuries ago is beautiful and in some way, those people reached some form of immortality and that's something that is truly beautiful to me
I have a radio phonograph hybrid from 1938 that belonged to my great great grandfather. At first it played nothing more than buzzing, but we cleaned it up and replaced a tube (anyone who does this stuff would know what I mean) and now the radio works just fine. The record player is still broken tho. I’m trying to fit in the time to visit this guys business to get them to replace and clean up a few parts of the motor. Hopefully we can get it working.
I have a mint condition victrola from 1915 that still works good as new! Cant say the same for some of the records that are with it, but it plays a few really well.
Gotta love old tech like that
There’s no technology. It’s all Mechanical. Spring powered like a clock

The modern needles are almost the same as the 1950s needles.
@@classicalhollywoodfilm8378these kind of record players only can play shellack 78s and they are pre World War II
@classicalhollywoodfilm8378 The Diamond Styluses? There are some companies that had made the same record players from the late 20s to the early 50s.
@@KhmerRestoration I know I was talking about the electric record players not gramophones I think the hmv suitcase gramophone made it to 1958 I think.

Some Tom and Jerry shows had an intro with this type of music
Man, I'm impressed. Heaven for this old prof would be a classroom filled with young people like you.
Thats some sweet vibes .
Sounds good, might need its gaskets being replaced though to remove that distortion at loud sections.
wonderful sound indeed!perfect quality of work too
(the luger p08 manual in the wall is so cool!)
I actually have a record from WW1 and it’s “Its A Long Way From Tipperary” dated 1917 I really want a WW2 or WW1 phonograph!
You can buy 78 rpm turntable
Is it by John McCormack? Because i have an original copy of his version of "Its A Long Way To Tipperary" from ww1

Gooooddddd I love the static sound!!!!!!!!!
Excellent piece of kit however I must say that this is actually a Gramophone rather than a Phonograph.

Well done, kept maintained for generations

imagine playing a gorenoise vinyl on that thing
My question is how did they figure out what oattern to engrave into these discs to get the sound they wanted?
I have a collection if radios from the 1930s
Can you move the stylus to play a vertical disc?
Please can you do more of this gramaphone
Yeah, ist Sounds like a crosley Cruiser 😊
no It dosent
;
Better?
For me, a phonograph sounds better than the cheap and tiny speakers of a Crosley Cruiser
I recently picked up a phonograph from 1918
Hi there ! got the same model in my vids but in Black cover skin...rare machines...
How to record our voice in that plate shit😂🤸🇵🇭🤔
And you also have a good record player because if the needle is red it could destroy the record.
Turn the record over play the rest of the record tomorrow you got big Loops under your eyes
78 rpm shellac record
This record player is as old as my grandpapi 🤠
*phonograph*
Back when American products were made in America and built to last. Now everything is made in china and barely lasts 5 years
maybe because you dont handle them with much care as you used to ?
Love old tech
So did somone fix this or was it just, never touched?
What bout WW2 where my grandfather fought in Vietnam

The video seems like some ridiculous tracking force like probably 20 grams or so that’s crazy no lp would ever be able to survive thay
Bro shoed his dad😢
Play to pimp a butterfly
