  • On July 2, 2022, Transit Toronto editor boarded the newly-minted 25J Waterloo GO Bus, which served a number of weekend trips from St. Jacobs Farmers Market before running local to Mississauga's Square One. This is in addition to express trips running from Waterloo's Universities into Mississauga. This two-hour, fifteen-minute-long trip has been compressed to just 12 minutes for this timelapse video. We apologize for the dirty front window, but you should still be able to see the full run in all its sunny glory. Enjoy!

    This is probably impractical but I think they should put windshield wipers on the top window, just to be a little thing to make riding the bus just that bit nicer.

      I hear you! It may be, though, that this particular bus is the issue. I noticed some small cracks (divots) in the windscreen, so it may be due for a replacement. And, quite by coincidence, it was the exact same bus I recorded for the Guelph-to-Mississauga Timelapse just a few weeks later. I had a better view for my two buses coming down from Stouffville.

    Strange, when I went to Square One in the evening, I saw no GO buses, now I see so many in this video.

      Things have been picking up of late as ridership is returning from being down during the pandemic. This is also the middle of the day on a weekend, and lots of people are heading into Toronto for the Jays game.

    *sigh* I miss Playdium when it was there. The ones in Whitby and Brampton just aren't the same, in my opinion.

    I can definitely see why the 29 continues to Kipling, I take it often on my way to/from Hamilton and it seems like a fair amount of people stay on when I get off at Square One. I don't think that would be the case with the 25J though.

    I think extending the 25J route to Kipling would save a transfer via MiWay and the risk of missing a connection. The 25J route does not seem to be oriented for people coming from Toronto. Perhaps terminating at Highway 407 or York Mills station would be better.
    One thing I don't see any more is a GO bus network map so as to know what GO bus routes are available. I recently discovered I could take a GO bus from York Mills station to Georgetown GO which would make a day trip to Georgetown convenient.

      Yeah, cause you already got the 33 that runs to Guelph from York Mills, so maybe they could have the 25 run to and from York Mills during rush hour.

    I noticed that by 2021 Metrolinx had replaced all its Presto readers at Union Station with a new version with a mode button and a smaller screen. I could not see clearly on the video, but has Metrolinx also replaced the Presto readers on all GO buses?

    My apologies for the dirty window that this video was shot through. To be fair to Metrolinx, it might be a challenge to keep the top deck windows clean. But we'll look at ways to mitigate the problem in our next timelapse videos.

      And also why dont you post the full video? You can get more watch time or do vid 2x or 4x or you can just stay at 10x

      @@lgarebetter5067 I like to have the Timelapse videos at 10x because it compresses the journey into something that fits nicely with the music. Longer than that may get boring. We may do a 1x video, but that would include the ambient sounds of the trip, along with commentary about the route in text. These would be known as "Ride Along" videos. That takes longer to produce, but we still have the original footage, so we can get to it someday.

    Do go buses run on both directions for each route?

    • @transittoronto
      @transittoronto  2 роки тому

      The timetables on GO Transit's website will tell you for sure. For this route, buses do run in both directions at roughly comparable intervals throughout the day.
