I'm having issues getting my skincare to work well with my foundations. My favorite foundation was discontinued years ago, and it worked perfectly with any skincare I used. Now, no matter what foundation I try, they all settle in my pores where I end up with that weird polka dot look, and my makeup just doesn't want to stick to my skin. I have combo skin with very little oil in the tzone. I live in a dry climate, and a lot of the time, my skin is dehydrated. I also can't use heavy, super-rich moisturizers because I'm prone to breakouts. All of my moisturizers and serums are thinner, water-based textures with humectants like hyralaunic acid, glycerin, squalene, and some ligher oclusives to lock everything in. The majority of my skincare is Paula's Choice with a few things from Glow Recipe. I'm begging to think the difference in the formula of my skincare just doesn't want to play nice with the formula of my foundations. I've used Kosas, Haus Labs, Wet and Wild skin tint, and many more, and I can't seem to figure it out. If anyone has any knowledge as to how I can figure this out, please help. I like a more hydrating dewy look in my foundation, but I do set it with a light dusting of very finely milled powder because I can't deal with a sticky face.
@@Witchway666There are lots of things to consider in my opinion. It's very tricky since everyone's skin is very different from one another. I'd recommend playing around with your skincare and makeup a little more when you have free time, especially if you're staying home. Put more or less of products until you figure out that golden ratio of skincare and makeup that works for your skin. Apply skincare, wait for few minutes to let it absorb before you put on your makeup. You might also see and feel after waiting, the parts of your skin that need more or less help. If your foundation is slipping and sliding everywhere, it can be too much hydration and moisturizing. If it's settling on dry patches and pores, it might be the opposite of the first case. I'd like to assume that you're getting the settling because of dehydration, and maybe using hydrating toners and essences, alongside your hydrating serum, might be able to help you with that. I know people will tell you they're not necessary, they're not wrong, but it's additional help for your skin. Put toner on to a thin cotton pad then put it on your dryer areas for 5-ish minutes then follow up with hydrating essence and/or serum concentrating on your dehydrated areas, depending on your need. Again, please keep in mind that everyone's skin is different and what worked for me might not work for you. I'm just sharing what helped me and I'd be glad if it serves you in any way.
I will throw my hat in this ring. First, look at your mother and father. Are their skin types in good condition for their ages? Do either have acne, oily or dry skin? Where do you live? Hot humid places or cold dry/ heated area? Once you analyze that, consider what you eat: fried fatty foods, too many carbs, snacks, and not enough water? Now follow with your own skin, your work atmosphere, your hygiene, and your commitment to a skin regimen. Now follow Alexandra’s advice😊
Also keep in mind that skincare can be dependent upon location & season - as well as skin type. If you live in Denver, which is so dry all the time, then you're going to need more moisture. If you live in Tampa, where it's usually humid, then generally you're going to need less moisture. If you live in a place where it's cold & dry in the winter, but is hot & humid in the summer, then you're going to need to change up your skincare with the seasons. Most people will need to do that, anyways, but some places can have extreme seasonal weather swings like Chicago.
I have suuuuuper dry skin. I exfoliate and deeply moisturize, but I still have major issues with flaky peeling skin around my mouth and chin (I am not over exfoliating btw). The only thing I’ve found to help is before doing my skincare for makeup, I cleanse with an oil cleanser and rub it for a while and it helps to loosen the flakes and rinse them away, and my makeup goes on sooo much better
My "Surpriiiiiise, Flakes!" are usually little areas on my cheeks around healing breakouts. Lately I've been rubbing in squalane oil, wiping most of it off with a dry tissue, and then doing a gommage peel. Not foolproof, but the gommage def does help remove most (if not all) flaky skin bits.
I have that problem occasionally, but it's only when I have an eczema flareup. If you're able to, you might want to go to a dermatologist to see if there's an underlying skin issue exacerbating the dryness.
@@baileydubs I've found that using probiotic skincare helps heal the eczema flareups faster than the colloidal oatmeal stuff does. It still takes a couple of weeks, but I find that it's better. So I try to incorporate that into my daily skincare routine (along with ceramides) to help try to prevent another flareup. Probiotic skincare can be a bunch of different ingredients, so if you go down that road, don't get stuck on things that say they're pre-, pro-, or post-biotic. Fermented ingredients & mineral spring water are good ones to look for.
I feel like my makeup-mom is (silently) yelling at me for complaining about things not sitting they way I want it to, when clearly, I am the problem :’) Once again THANK U Alex for always setting me straight and making the best videos and giving us the best tips. Hope you are well
I would honestly LOVE to hear your commentary/opinions on topics other than makeup. Seriously. But i understand this is the niche you stick to, sometimes simple is best. But Im just saying. All love 🤗💜
@@inkasaraswati7625 i think she said once she stopped that channel and just used this channel to upload the random video that's not about beauty related but she hasn't posted a video lately like that.
Oh my stars, Alexandra. I haven't even watched the video yet. I had to pause to tell you that eye look is phenomenal on you! Stunning. (I very much need this video though, so back to it.)
Ooooo! I spy the Lisa Eldridge new skin tint in the preview image. That with what I'm guessing is the Hindash palette red is looking fire 🔥. Can't wait to see the video behind the look!!
Yes! Thank you Alex! I am a very oily skin individual with small sections of normal skin. I have found all of your advice for skin prep fixed many of my issues. I added one step that I got from Robert Welsh: use setting spray after skincare and sunscreen but before foundation. I have been testing it with two different setting sprays for the past 2 weeks and anytime I do not use the setting spray this way my foundation does not wear well or as long. The two of you MUAs are lifesavers!
I purchased it but I am returning today. I selected a neutral shade. My skin is rosy/neutral. The neutral tint was still way too yellow for me. I had the same issue with her original foundation which after a while I stopped using altogether. Wonderful products but I have trouble with shades offered.
I've been using it the past three days and loving it so far. It reminds me of the Ilia skin tint in terms of coverage, but it feels and looks much less greasy and blends easily. In terms of matching, I found it easier then her foundations.
Came back to say I have oily skin. Skipped moisturizer this morning and my foundation looks flawless! I didn’t even know I needed this tutorial but was asking myself everyday “why the heckle is my foundation looking like this and getting greasy after like 15 mins???” And LO! You came with the answers! Thanks again Alex ❤
I am so enjoying your videos! At the age of 70 I am finally deciding to take a critical look in the mirror. Obviously, I don’t wear make up but I have for years done long lasting things like dye my eyebrows. Finally I am focusing on quality skin. Too late? Well, I won’t have skin like yours (stunning!) but I can improve. And it is an endlessly interesting subject. I am trying products you recommend, links you suggest and all while enjoying your humor and your expertise. Thanks again.
Not finished watching the video but another thing for hydration of your skin is that YOU NEED TO BE DRINKING MORE WATER. Skincare isn't just putting stuff on it, skincare is also taking care of your nutrition and hydration which drastically effects your skin, especially noticeable on the face.
Can we take a moment for the brows right now. The SHAPE, SHADE OMG! They are perfection 👌 please do an update on what you're using and doing for brows? ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Love this. I think it’s important to note that hydrating and moisturizing can be different things. If a dermatologist isn’t in the financial cards, maybe try seeing an esthetician. Not one myself, but I work with them. They taught me that I needed to focus on hydration more than moisturizing. I have combo/more oily skin/congestion/reactive. So I have a light weight, oil free moisturizer and use a hyaluronic acid serum for the hydration and I can tell you 100% my skin took a 180 over night! When it comes to makeup, I’m still figuring out the best product combos. But just wanted to throw the is tid but in. I always assumed hydrating and moisturizing meant the same. The hydrating serums are going to replenish your skin and attract water and sinks into the skin and the moisturizer will lock that in and create like a barrier and soften the skin. Both important and people may need more of one than the other. It a balancing game.
In so many of your makeup tutorial videos, you let us know you have already done skincare a while ago. This advice has made a huge difference to my makeup application. There are a lot of makeup content creators who start their tutorials with skincare then straight to makeup & it's just not realistic & left me wondering why I wasnt getting the results I wanted. So thanks for teaching us the way Alex! And wow you make red eye looks pop! I'm going to try it & hope I dont look like a zombie bleeding from my eyeballs.
I’m embarrassed to admit that I never thought about leaving out one of my moisturizing steps when wearing a super dewy foundation. 🤪 Gorgeous eye look btw! Then again, they always are!
I would just like to say that I GREATLY appreciate your perspective on makeup!! I’m a natural girly but learned a lot more about makeup to coverup breakouts over the years. I have dealt with acne medication, dryness, oiliness, redness, irritation, etc. I have tried to avoid Acutane bc of my negative experience with birth control, but have been on meds and topicals since high school. Your makeup and descriptions of everything have helped so much! Thank you for your honesty and your creativity. It’s been a joy watching you as a fan 🥹
I'm sitting here wondering, "Why didn't I think of that?" I've been working on skincare regimen for at least a year now. Actually, I have my skin in a pretty decent place. Last night, I was in a rush to get makeup on for date night. Didn't have the time to really spend blending, so I grabbed powder EVERYTHING since it's faster for me. Big mistake, huge... Even though I had moisturized very well, all that powder had my face looking like the Sahara desert. I was really confused and quickly used a moisturizing spray to get by. Still didn't click until you mentioned it in this video. Thank you for this.
My fav foundation is Mac Studio fix face and body, the skin tint one. Would love reccs for a higher coverage product in that same vein of product. It’s the only product that doesn’t emphasize fine lines and large pores around my chin and lips. I don’t even see the fine lines until I put on other foundations!! Normal to Moderately dry skin. Other foundations that are okay on me are: Makeup Forever HD skin, Beauty Blender skin tint, Haus Labs. But I can’t go much on the chin/lip area with those.
Hi Alex. Please do an indepth tut on mascara, different types and the best way to wear mascara and maybe combining more than one? I have an issue with mascara only sticking to the tips of my lashes, like lollipops, haha not a good look.
Alex, you are the BOMB, this was SO HELPFUL. Thank you! As for me, I used to think I was oily, but it turned out my skincare routine was way too extensive and I was stripping my skin causing it to overproduce oils, and my breakouts weren’t healing. Now my routine is way simpler, and I found out I actually have more of a combo-to-normal skin type. I have an exfoliating mask that I used 1-2 times a week, but I also started using those silicone exfoliating pads with my cleanser at night EVERYDAY. It’s great to help cleanse, obviously, but perhaps I’m overdoing it. I’ve noticed my skin started to become more oily than usual again, even though it’s winter and it should be drying out this time of year. I switched to a lightweight moisterizer in the mornings, and won’t used the silicone pads as often and see how that goes. I’ve been convinced that I can’t find a liquid base product that works for me, but I might try to find one again once I get my skin in a more balanced place. Wish me luck; and thanks again!! ❤
Firstly, gorgeous look! Second, I use Sigma eye primer on my eyes and some areas of my nose to keep the oils from coming through. Tried secure the sweat primer for a long zoo day, worked ok.
I became obsessed with skincare during the pandemic and I'm so happy to know that I'm not alone 😂 Btw - I think that I am probably twice your age, certainly older, but I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your videos. You are so genuine and so real and so beautiful and I love everything that you put out. You were made for this and I hope you continue to do it forever ❤️
I love ❤ your eyeshadow look! Absolutely gorgeous ❤ I believe makeup artistry is your main focus for your channel, but I would so love to see a vid of you getting your hair cut/colored as well as how you style it. I first found you on Pinterest while I was looking for beautiful short pixie styles.
I learned so much from this video, thank you! I’m going to try to let my skincare sink in more thoroughly, and I probably don’t exfoliate enough… thank you!!
Love how you broke this down. I’m on the dry as a desert skin. I’m 49 yrs old, and my skin cannot get enough moisture. I use face oils. Thick moisturizer. I exfoliate, only twice a month… but may need to do so more. What’s some low end moisturizers and face oils for dry skin?
Great info as always! Super-helpful for newbies, and great reminders for folks who've been doing this a while. (Also: cannot wait to see the video for this makeup look. GOODGAWD)
I just went to sephora and I didn't realize they had technology that tells you your skin type and color 😅😂 that was neat. They paired me with ilia super serum skin tint bread spectrum spf 40 lotion. I'd love to hear your thoughts on it! I also got nars radiant creamy concealer, tower 28 mascara you recommended and some other things. Still looking for more skin care products - specifically fragrance free (natural stuff only) which I know is limiting.
Also, kiehls is the product sample I got for free! Facial wash and toner. I was also considering that grape water product you mentioned because it's organic and I should be able to use it. :)
I use that Ilia Super Serum Skin Tint and I love it, and I hope you do too! One important tip: While the bottle says it provides SPF40, pretend it doesn't have any. You'd have to put on 73 pounds of the product to actually achieve spf40. So instead, put on your own spf first, let it set, and then apply the skin tint. Any spf in the skin tint is just a bonus, but shouldn't be your primary source of sun protection. ❤
My best skin regime so far has been drastically stripping it back. Only cleansing with water & microfibre cloth, soolantra for rosacea and then Azelaic Acid. A combined spf/moisturizer in the mornings. Skin has never looked better. And much cheaper! Thanks Alex, an interesting watch as usual ❤
Nah but nobody is talking enough about how your eyes are the exact same shade as your lips?! And it looks chic instead of costume? Ma'am where did you COME FROM 🫠
I did my 9 months of Isotretinoin during lockdown. I had all my Derm appointments by Zoom and had to go to the hospital pharmacy to pick up my prescriptions... I was 42 and suffered with acne my entire adult life. I exhausted every option prior and just had to wait for an optimum time for me (I had major surgery and had to stop ALL meds, so couldnt do it then), for example). It was the best decision for me. I now have normal-dry skin... 😎✌🏼💜💜💜
Thanks to your videos I’ve been able to nail my base everywhere except one spot at the top of my nose that keeps getting oily 😅 I’ll try the not using moisturizer there and a couple more things you suggested ❤
This is a great review! My skin all over has really dried out as I've aged. My hair is drying out too. 😞 I've never had to work so hard on staying moisturized!
I’m getting married in June! I would love a video that was exactly what you would do and wear if you were getting married. Including starting with skincare and how long you would let it sit, etc! How much time you would allow to do your makeup and skincare. How you would match blush’s and eyeshadow and lipstick shades. Also how you would touch up throughout the day. That would be awesome :)
I’m hopeful it’ll be featured in an upcoming video but I’m not gonna lie, the thumbnail made me hopeful you were going to showcase Lisa Eldridge new skin tint in this one.
Most of the time I skip foundation and just use powder over moisturizer but when I use one, I prefer a sort of dewy or moisturizing skin tint, even though I have an oily T zone. Anyway, with the moisturizer/powder combo, when my oils come through, the finish ends up looking very natural.
I am combo oily but have recently have realized my skin is also dehydrated. Kind of a hard concept to grasp. Probably should have realized this awhile ago. My skincare routine is still in the works. Trying to find my sweet spot
Hi Alex,, I've missed you and I literally just walked out of the Dr's appointment and here you are. My favorite person ever 🤗♥️🥰🌟💐🦋💞🌻🌺🌹😍. You know how I feel about you. You are truly the best ❤. I totally need this video so thank you so much for teaching us instead of just doing ❤. I love you so much and your personality is absolutely everything ❤. Being 53 I try to take care of skin as much as possible but I have so many freaking wrinkles and I do have a morning and nighttime routine. Also I'm dry skin and I did do a few green looks and I've gotten so many compliments so again Thank You ❤. I just bought the mini tatcha dewy skin and can't wait to get it which is today and I'm so excited to use. I wanted to try the keihls but it's so expensive and I bought the drunk elephant cleanser and I'm excited about that too. Sorry I wrote a readers digest version lol 😂. I don't use sun screen only when I'm in the pool but as you know I'm not able to go anywhere but maybe I'll add that to my morning routine. But I do everything else you said. I forgot to mention that you are stunningly gorgeous 😍
Please clarify that OVEREXFOLIATION is the #! reason for dehydrated skin and an impaired moisture barrier which is key to healthy skin. Someone new to tretinoin should NOT be using low-pH acids like ascorbic acid serums or chemical exfoliants and should instead keep their skincare routine as simple and gentle as possible until your skin acclimates. It should also be considered that the developer of tretinoin first released in 1971 through testing emphasized that once a week is doing nothing for the skin and will not allow your skin to ever acclimate. Please emphasize that SPF is mandatory especially for anyone using tretinoin or exfoliants and moisturizers should NIOT be applied over tretinoin. Great video.
As someone who has been resetting my skin since November, i cant agree enough about careful use of exfoliants! I am waiting a full month more to exfoliate or use retinol. When i go too fast, i get a big ol angry mess...
I was mixing the sunscreen in the moisturizer cream and applying after moisturizing my face, reason for mixing was easy to spread. But will start applying the sun screen first from now on and then moisturizer! My skin is on the dry side ☺️
Hey girl! You always want your sunscreen to be the LAST step of your skincare. Putting your sunscreen on first and then going in with your moisturizer will only break down the coverage of your sun protection as well as make it less potent. I like to think of sunscreen as paint as an analogy. If you put paint evenly over your face, then something on top it’ll just move around the paint. I hope this is helpful info queen!
I’m forever trying to find the perfect foundation for my skin type. 😢 I’ve been really loving the Maybelline Superstay skin tint recently. Can’t wait to try the Revlon foundation for combination skin!
I spent the first 30 years of my life near the beach in Southern California. It's hot and humid and I was a total greaseball and couldn't get my acne under control. Makeup was always about mattifying and de-greasing. Two years ago I moved to New Mexico, where it's hot and incredibly dry. My skin is now so dehydrated I'm ADDING oil to my skincare routine, and I'm still figuring out how to do makeup for dry skin. It's been a wild ride, and I'm trying to find a dermatologist to start on a solid skincare journey with.
I don't really know the formula of the water creams, but I use the gel moisturizer from Fourth Ray Beauty, you can only get these products through Colour Pop. I think it's called the Good Mood gel moisturizer. I also use The Daily eye cream and for cleansing I prefer the Cloud Bank milky cleanser during Spring, Summer, and Fall but during the Winter when the icey cold wind sucks the moisture out of my skin I like the Bloom Service cleansing balm because it's a bit heavier. I still haven't found a good SPF for my face that isn't super oily. I used to have a mineral foundation that was PHENOMENAL, it was in a white bottle with a pink cap,and it was AMAZING for my face. I don't remember the brand. Tried the Native mineral spf and it was far too heavy for me.
I am loving your deep dive videos! I was using the Inkey List water cream (love on a no makeup day) but from this video, I don't think it's hydrating enough on a makeup day. Great content!
I love beauty of Joseon. 44 year old kombination skin, with few breakouts. Nose Very oily. Got my skincare rutin pretty much worked out. Looking for my perfect foundation. Got Danessas blurring skin powder in different shades- its ok but almost makes my skin To dry looking (older) Serum foundation- To oily looking... As Im getting older I find that a skintint- Paulas choice that you tried, with concealer, is probably the way to go. But its a Journey...!
Looking forward to your video about super moisturizing products / surviving Tret. Seems like no matter what skincare I use, I am not able to achieve pre-makeup dewy skin! HALP!
Thank you for this video!!! It was very helpful/insightful, and now I’m curious about that Inkey List water cream. Something I’d like to add to the convo is that people can be sensitive to silicone based products. Once I started looking for products without silicone (Tower 28, I love you) then I found that my texture improved immensely.
Last week, my neighbor who's never worn makeup asked me to come teach her how to use the hundreds of dollars in Jones Road products she'd purchased for herself. She was terrified of the product until I told her it was skin care. I spent three hours with her, teaching her how to apply the products to her very dry mature skin, and she looked phenomenal at the end and was thrilled with the products. With my oily mature skin I could never wear those products well myself, but my heart was filled to overflowing by seeing how ecstatic she was over both how great she looked at the end, and how easy the products were to use.
I’ve cooled down on the skincare since the pandemic. But I definitely learned a lot of great things from that time but I’m sticking with the products that work. I would love to learn more about primers, oil vs water or silicone based and which ones go best with which kinds of foundations. I am so lost.
I’m currently dealing with alternating deep painful acne and dry flaky skin peeling like a lizard from trying to treat it. 🦎 I’ll have maybe two days per month that my skin is smooth enough to even wear makeup before the cycle starts over. I’ve been really trying to dial in my skincare but keep thinking the only thing that’ll fix my face is a bullet. 😬 💄 ✅ Cleansing ✅ Exfoliating ✅ Moisturizing ✅ SPF ❔Over-exfoliating idk maybe? I’m trying to increase skin hydration without aggravating my acne. And I like the Smashbox Always On skin balancing foundation whether it not it’s the right formula, idk 😂 Your videos are always timely and helpful though and I’m looking forward to an updated skincare video!
I’d love to hear your views on using/mixing water or oil based products in a regime and the benefits to sticking to one type vs mixing water and oil based skincare/makeup. I find this an absolute minefield when buying skincare and makeup products that are compatible.
Request: makeup tutorial using only tinted lipbalm (something with a nice taste) for a lip product.. I can't stand lipstick or gloss and hardly anyone wears it where I live.
My under eyes used to be DRY and my T zone was oily as hell. I just started using Retinol Serum combined with Vitamin C and my skin started glowing after weeks, not dry, not oily, just normal skin. And it's great as a makeup primer. Amazing. And I cleanse with a plain cleanser. That's it. P.S. it also works as a light protection. For anyone asking: I use Judith Williams Retinol Expert Retinol+Vitamin C. That's basically the name of the product, comes in a silver-whote box, the bottle is purple.
Thanks for this comprehensive guidance on foundation formulas. My big wondering is how does one find their color match for drugstore brands when you can’t swatch the colors? I always end up purchasing more expensive brands because the people at Sephora can help me find my color match.

Probiotic skincare can be a bunch of different ingredients, so if you go down that road, don't get stuck on things that say they're pre-, pro-, or post-biotic. Fermented ingredients & mineral spring water are good ones to look for.
I've started noticing skin flakeys so this should help me
I feel like my makeup-mom is (silently) yelling at me for complaining about things not sitting they way I want it to, when clearly, I am the problem :’)
Once again THANK U Alex for always setting me straight and making the best videos and giving us the best tips.
Hope you are well
I would honestly LOVE to hear your commentary/opinions on topics other than makeup. Seriously. But i understand this is the niche you stick to, sometimes simple is best. But Im just saying. All love 🤗💜
Agreed
She has a second channel, Alx Talx but I think she hasn't posted there in a while
@inkasaraswati7625 oh yeah she hasn't. I'm guessing it's hard to manage when you're expecting to upload on this channel at set times.
@@inkasaraswati7625 i think she said once she stopped that channel and just used this channel to upload the random video that's not about beauty related but she hasn't posted a video lately like that.
oh my god i need a make upp tutorial of that eye look it looks STUNING
Oh my stars, Alexandra. I haven't even watched the video yet. I had to pause to tell you that eye look is phenomenal on you! Stunning. (I very much need this video though, so back to it.)
I found you from a red Eyeshadow video a couple years ago, and it STILL doesn't disappoint
I’m such a sucker for red 🔥
@@AlexandraAnelelooks great with your eye colour as well. Makes the colour pop
THANK YOU for referring viewers to dermatologists!
This eye makeup look is insanely awesome! Yes dude. I LOVE IT!
Lisa Eldridge skin tint in the thumbnail? 👀
I NEED your thoughts on it. I'm really unsure whether to buy it.
Get it. No regrets on my end
Also why I clicked lol fwiw it's beautiful but so tiny! I used a good amount of product on application. Wish they gave us a bigger size for the money
I purchased it but I am returning today. I selected a neutral shade. My skin is rosy/neutral. The neutral tint was still way too yellow for me. I had the same issue with her original foundation which after a while I stopped using altogether. Wonderful products but I have trouble with shades offered.
@@luluq01she has the option to buy sample cards for a reasonable price.
I've been using it the past three days and loving it so far. It reminds me of the Ilia skin tint in terms of coverage, but it feels and looks much less greasy and blends easily. In terms of matching, I found it easier then her foundations.
I love the incredibly in-depth and nuanced information you're giving here! Pro! Thanks Alex
I don't even wear foundation, yet you talking about it makes me want to try it. You are THAT good.
Thanks again.
just a daily reminder of how beautiful you are😻 and your vids are ultra informative xx
Not finished watching the video but another thing for hydration of your skin is that YOU NEED TO BE DRINKING MORE WATER. Skincare isn't just putting stuff on it, skincare is also taking care of your nutrition and hydration which drastically effects your skin, especially noticeable on the face.
This was so helpful - thank you! I'm definitely not letting my skin prep sink in long enough.
Thank you for the straight forward discussion and the charming digressions.
Gooooodddd grief, you are sooo intelligent and such a good teacher!!! What a great resource you’ve created for all of us! Thank you!!!
😩 thank you so much! 🙏🏼❤️
You just look so badass in this makeup! Red is your color
Good advice regarding the 15min waits!!
One of the most informative makeup video! Thank you for getting back to talking about the basics!
wow, super duper niiiiiiiiiiiiccceeeee eyeshadow color. It suites you so so mich! beautiful! ❤
Excited to see a video about your tretinoin journey!
you’re both pretty & talented & elegant at the same time
Thanks to you all my makeup i have bought is perfect for my skin, tysm for making such informative videos
Please please do a humid proof makeup routine with tips and tricks!
I love the way you explain things
please TUTORIAL with these red shades, you look perfect
Firstly, gorgeous look! Second, I use Sigma eye primer on my eyes and some areas of my nose to keep the oils from coming through. Tried secure the sweat primer for a long zoo day, worked ok.
I became obsessed with skincare during the pandemic and I'm so happy to know that I'm not alone 😂
Btw - I think that I am probably twice your age, certainly older, but I cannot tell you how much I appreciate your videos.
THIS FKN RED EYE LOOK W YOUR GREEN-HAZEL EYES🔥🔥🔥😍😍😍
Love how you broke this down.
I’m on the dry as a desert skin.
I’m 49 yrs old, and my skin cannot get enough moisture.
I use face oils.
Thick moisturizer.
I exfoliate, only twice a month… but may need to do so more.
What’s some low end moisturizers and face oils for dry skin?
The ordinary moisturiser is great and I use the facetheory facial oils (squalane and jojoba are both fab!)
@@herbie13 I will have to try that out. Thank you 😊
Why have I never thought to skip primer when applying spf? I'll give that a try this weekend!! (ps that eyeshadow makes your eyes POP gurl)
Great info as always! Super-helpful for newbies, and great reminders for folks who've been doing this a while.
(Also: cannot wait to see the video for this makeup look. GOODGAWD)
I've got more mature, combo skin and in winter when I dehydrate like nothing else, the snail mucin has been such a relief.
Aaaaaallllllllllllll the way back! I always forget how FAR back we can go to start these crazy equations to find the "perfect" mix.
@@JillKnapp thank you for the tip! That makes sense as it feels pretty light weight. Only used it once so far but I like it so far !
Ma'am where did you COME FROM 🫠
This was realllyyyyy good! You did great! This is a hard topic to talk about. 🎉❤
100 % ABSOLUTELY CORRECT !!!!!!! LET IT DRY / EVEN IF ONLY FOR A MINUTE !!!!!!!!!!!
Wow! So much information and amazing tips in this video Alex, and tutorial for today please, your eyes! 💋 *chef's kiss* x
I hear you, especially in winter. I've found snail mucin to be good. Weird texture at first, but it saved my skin last winter.
@@jillybean624 I assumed it would be too heavy for me then Alex mentioned it is light. I will be trying this ☺️
I double checked and it's the snail mucin serum that I use. But still so light weight and hydrating.
This is so well put together Alex, thanks for your effort with info, flow of information and how ur communicating - so good xx
For me, skin care is important, I have oily skin, so wash, exfoliate, moisturize before makeup...😍😍😍
Great explanation and advice. ❤❤
Love love love your informative vids, like i have a pen and a paper watching it and im taking Notes.
I am loving your deep dive videos! I was using the Inkey List water cream (love on a no makeup day) but from this video, I don't think it's hydrating enough on a makeup day. Great content!
So true I learnt about exfoliating and it changed my skin🎉
Very..very informative video…thank you this is going to help me a lot
Great vid! I always applied my SPF before my hydrating cream 😭 ty for explaining that. At least i let it set a bit hehe, amazing tips!
Excellent tutorial Alex. Thank you for helping me to finally understand the process. A really interesting video. 👏🏻🥰
Great products for your age . Just got a new skincare product that works for me
I’ve cooled down on the skincare since the pandemic. But I definitely learned a lot of great things from that time but I’m sticking with the products that work. I would love to learn more about primers, oil vs water or silicone based and which ones go best with which kinds of foundations. I am so lost.
This has been so helpful! (I need to know how you do this lip look too, please!)
✅ Cleansing
✅ Exfoliating
✅ Moisturizing
✅ SPF
❔Over-exfoliating idk maybe?
I’m trying to increase skin hydration without aggravating my acne. And I like the Smashbox Always On skin balancing foundation whether it not it’s the right formula, idk 😂
Your videos are always timely and helpful though and I’m looking forward to an updated skincare video!
I’d love to hear your views on using/mixing water or oil based products in a regime and the benefits to sticking to one type vs mixing water and oil based skincare/makeup. I find this an absolute minefield when buying skincare and makeup products that are compatible.
Absolutely gorgeous red stxle❤❤❤
That lipstick is amazing on your pale olive skin! What is it?
Request: makeup tutorial using only tinted lipbalm (something with a nice taste) for a lip product.. I can't stand lipstick or gloss and hardly anyone wears it where I live.
My problem is not taking the time to let products sit. Have definitely thought about getting Jones Road products.
best makeup videos in the game
Red is your cullah gurrrrrrl I'm always excited for your videos but can we just talk about this look?? Fiyyyerrrrr 🔥🔥🔥🚒 and with your hair and the black sweater +++= ❤❤❤❤LOVE
