I haven’t watched this yet, but judging by the chapters that the lost city takes up about 3/4 of the video, I can tell this is going to be an interesting watch..
19:41 Made me die laughing! 😆 Poor Lewis is going to destroy his sanity all in the name of entertainment! I dread Sunset Vista in the normal game and I can only imagine how much of a nightmare it is going to be to get a Platinum Relic! Levels like the Creek, Hog, and Boulder seem pretty straightforward for time trials since you're only traveling in one direction. Well, also the fact that they are pretty short levels, so if you fail, it doesn't usually take too long to get back to where you were. Not to mention it seems like all the Time Crates are conveniently in your path so you are less likely to miss one.
Just a tip for sunset vista, when you get pushed off by the sliding walls you can jump at the right time and skip the wait. It sounds risky but once you get the hang of it it'll feel natural.
I love the little "foreshadowing intro". Already know what to expect. You can do it Lewis! If i could it, anyone can. PS. Im struggling with native fortress rn and its dev time... Those long levels man.....
@@Anything_And_Everything_Horror Bragging rights, me personally I just took my gold relics and dipped. I don't hate myself enough to go for all platinum😂.
Your pacing for these are actually really good. Sunset Vista is actually very lenient for the platinum. You don't need to be perfect at all with that one. It's weird to say the same thing for Stormy Ascent, but even that, once you get the cycles set for yourself, is actually a bit lenient considering the time required there. The biggest highlighter that you should be aware of beyond Sunset Vista would have to be Generator Room, Slippery Climb, Fumbling in the Dark, and The Lab. These 4 will take a bit of your time. But, as you did in this part, it's all about knowing the cycles. Great work :o
the frustrating part is watching this and thinking how terrible he is at this game knowing I am definitely worse. All we need now is the William P relic times
Well, there are developer times in n.sane, but primarily for pc version Console version is way slower than pc, so some times are literally imposdible to beat like cortex power or hog ride.
Just FYI the floating mask in the Lost City is a vertical jump above the floating platforms when they are at the highest part of their cycle. The shadow the mask was casting is misleading. That being said, probably would have been a time waste if you grabbed it during your run, because when you reach the third mask you have to deal with the sliding walls that prevent you from utilizing your increased running speed
Dude, the only Crash game where starting a time trial doesn't take your Aku Aku away is The Wrath of Cortex. It has worked like that since Warped on PS1, I'm surprised it took you so long to notice it. It was made so that you can't cheat by having more masks than intended during a time trial
I did quite a few plats in Crash 1 but eventually gave up. Found that actually finishing the level without dying was the hardest part. Sunset Vista I managed to do in a few attempts and platinum'd thank god, but it was the most stressful experience of my life.
The thing that I hate about Crash 1 in particular is that he feels slow and heavy compared to the OG. You're not imagining that you should be making jumps more consistently, it's that the OG controls made it so much easier to make jumps
Generator room is... a unique beast for sure. You gotta jump ahead of time in such a way, that defies crash 1 platforming instincts. No wonder its also horrendous.
Yep, Sunset Vista is the longest level in the game, but the platinum time is a bit misleading, as it is very lenient, and can be beaten by over a minute. The level is very arduous and is filled with walls, bats, lizards, jumps, and upwards platforming sections, like The Lost City but worse. So it basically becomes a full run test rather than it being fully speed-based, but obviously you shouldn't just pause mid-run. The next few levels, being Temple Ruins, Boulder Dash, and Whole Hog, are pretty easy overall, with Whole Hog having a lower platinum time than its counterpart. Boulder Dash is just Boulders but slightly harder and longer, but it should take less than 5 attempts. Temple Ruins is slighly challenging, but once you get the hang of the jumps and enemies if should be fine.
@deoxysandmew2162 Yep, but then somehow I myself end up being bad enough at the game to get a gold relic on it, I mean now I'm really trying to speed up and optimise the first section, but that 2nd platforming section and the 2nd floor are where I lose most of my time, hopefully I'll get it tomorrow though
@deoxysandmew2162 Welp, I finally got the relic after about 20-30 minutes of attempting it today a few hours ago, but I only somehow beat if by just over a second because I kept failing the 2nd upwards platform section, and I had to wait for some cycles after that section and at the first bit, which I had improved greatly since yesterday. But now, for me, it's time for... The High Road. I feel pain already thinking about the turtle section and those ropes that I'm going to have to use to get past bad cycles. Hopefully it shouldn't take too long, it ain't the longest of levels, and it does get progressively easier I think.
@@SandaaaGW2 You got this man. High Road isnt THAT difficult... To me, it was one of the true fun levels ngl. All you do is go forward. No slide jump, no super speed. Just rustic movement of going forward and jump accordingly.
I agree with your point on the game. Overall it's good and very playable, but when you try to utilize every move fast to get the relic, it's starting to feels very off. Movement crumbles, physics doesn't make any sense and hitboxes are pretty strange as well.
Yea you would have had a much easier time if you tried going for triple Aku. It speeds up the final part of the level tremendously and basically makes the Plat free as long as you don't die to those moving walls at the end.
despite sunset vista being a long level there's a lot of spare time to screw up and still get the plat. just got it today in 3:06 minutes with room for improvments
polar you should know as a guy who literally just did this game like 2 weeks ago some levels you gotta do with the stick and some with the d pad if one isn’t going your way you should probably try the other
I have a question because I didn’t play this game for a long time , but u can’t slide and power jump in this game? Or just sliding? From what i saw sliding would help a lot.
I find Crash 1 to be the easiest game to earn the platinum relics because it actually forces you to learn the level in and out and once you do the timing becomes somewhat scripted with the obstacles you encounter, so you don't have to worry if you're going fast enough and constantly have in mind the speed shoes ability which breaks the flow of the game basically. Then again, i've played and practiced so much in that game so that might be a bias take.
Nah, i agree. This is why it feels very nice to sppedrun crash 1 levels. Thats precisely what ruined time trials for me in crash 4 its about time with stupid triple spin. Didnt bother going for dev relics there, but here in crash 1?! Im going all out and still have fun.
@@deoxysandmew2162have not attempted the Crash 4 time trials yet and that's mainly the reason honestly. I just don't like when other factors get between the traditional Crash platforming.
Hey lewis, i want you to enjoy this series much like ctr trials. If you arent liking it, id suggest switching the game to crash 4 ( hear me out ) crash 4s platinums are much more difficult, but you have more of a moveset so even if the jumps arent consistent you can still maneuver around them
You inspired me to try this on my own And now I'm stuck on the 'Road to nowhere' getting gold after gold. I hope I don't break my switch before I get all the platinums

Generator room is... a unique beast for sure. You gotta jump ahead of time in such a way, that defies crash 1 platforming instincts.

The one positive for those two levels is at least they're short. I hated Vista and Stormy purely due to their length and not dying.
