I feel like Dino as the youngest child got caught between trying to please both parents. And because his dad clammed up on him, he lacked direction but didn’t dare to take over when his dad gave up and abandoned him.
Girls’ painting is so colorful and very abstract. Boys’ painting is so beautiful and very realistic. Both are good. Hard to choose, smile. Dear Frenzy, light up and enjoy with your son. Dear Dino, light up and love your dad. Both of you are great artists.
This episode upset me so much. I’m really close to tears. I felt so much for Dino. I think I was triggered a lot from my Dad’s passive aggressive personality and having to deal with John would really have put me over the edge. To see someone so young try to communicate with someone much older as well being his father is very admirable.
Of course, I’m speculating, but it seems those kids dearly love their father but they are very protective of him. Maybe his behavior comes from a troubled childhood and the kids know it.
I feel Dino communicated well Bravo! he was under alot of pressure working along side his Dad who very rarely gave him positive feedback he criticised Dino more if anything . John makes alot of excuses for his bad behaviour he acts like a spoilt sulky child if he doesn't get his own way🤦
@@triciaovervliet8726 I had no clue that John is neurodivergent. Do you know if this information has been given out publically? It's something that should be said so that people can gain a better understanding.
@@mylifemychoice9250 agreed. Dino immediately showed how upset he was being paired with his dad. That weighed heavily on his dad. Yikes. I’m already upset and I’m not near thru this episode.
I thought that too at the beginning of the episode, especially when Dimitra shared the thing about John’s past and that he finds it hard to believe that he is really loved by someone, but then I changed my opinion after watching the full episode. I think, as someone else suggested, John might be neurodivergent and probably has a few issues coping in a situation like this. But Dino is also just a kid and tried, multiple times, in the planning stage before they began to pin John down into a plan and couldn’t. Not to mention on top f all that, the thing Elli said about John band handcuffs. When she realised that she should have pulled the pin immediately. And finally, again a point made by someone else, this comp should not include John in the place. He is clearly at a different level of ability than the rest of the contestants, even though that hasn’t reflected in the winner each week, it’s still a fact.
Dear Dino - you are 15-ish (probably older now, right?) going on 50. You have an amazing, big, bright, mature, elevated spirit. Everyone can see that. Don't ever, EVER let that be diminished or squelched. Carry on, soldier! Destined for greatness.......
I like that Dalia's arm was tired and Dafni offered to take a bathroom brake. It's not often you see tactical moves on a emotional front. Really smart.
I absolutely adore this family! You all are amazing! Dino and John had valid emotions, both trying in their ways and that’s life, working it out as the issues are perceived. It’s gotta be hard with cameras and knowing the world will see it.
I do feel like it’s watching a ‘real family’ allowing us into family dynamics. At times uncomfortable to watch but so real. All respect to the Milan’s. I have learnt so much from every episode. From communication, how we all have our insecurities, our highs and lows. It makes me feel normal and have found peace and meaning in my current artwork. Thank you 🙏🏼🙌❤️
They needed a family therapist for this challenge. John is a neurotic person whose ego is very wounded and he was really abusive toward Dino who is a good soul.
I really wish at least half of this was edited out. It was cruel to put the guys together in this challenge and a less enjoyable watch. Love the show though
The discussion on collaborations at the end of the episode was super fun. I would love to see more of that. Like you said, it got really deep, and it was super fun to see that analyzed.
This is developing into a family reality show. John's sulking and negative comments surprising. These challenges are bringing out the best and the worst in their characters. The art is incidental. Is Dino really only 15. Enjoying the show and the family dynamics. Thank you Shalom❤
I have been watching all your videos in this challenge series and have had my eyes quite opened both to art and behaviour. Shame that collaboration is not what it should be. I love that Dino is really trying to work graciously with the passive aggressive (even childish) behaviour of someone who should know better - not a pretty thing to witness!
Hey John... maybe you could "teach" him and not tell him how Bad he does everything. The parent should be willing to have a less than perfect painting and prefer their child to learn and grow.
I think John caught a bad rap on this episode. Collaboration is always hard. There were a lot of emotions going into this challenge. Before it even started everyone was ganging up on him and he still tried to execute it with style and grace. A person can only take so much. I would have quit. Also I think there is a difference between critique and trying to direct a painting. The constant commentary from the hosts is disheartening to the artist and disrupts their flow. Also the changing of the rules mid challenge is frustrating. It was asked right at the start before they even started if it had to be all sky or if it could have land. They were told yes it could have land the sky just had to be the focal point.. Then Eli came in and made both teams remove the land. I understand it was the first season and it was a learning process. I'm glad everyone survived😂 Don't be to hard on yourselves you're family doing what families do. Normal family's go to war and then 10 minutes later they are good.
Oh. My opinion would show three pages of size 8 font single spaced….. from my experience and family background…. I thought John was amazing. The girls laughing…. John being handcuffed (that seemed cruel if he had previous bad memories/experiences)… Dino seemed to push his buttons and was very rough with his way - this broke my heart. As a parent it made me even more sad. I was always told about respect. If I dare disrespected my father (he was tough physically)- or mother- I was black and blue for weeks. Dino has a few more years to understand where John is coming from. He is trying to keep the peace (from speaking his mind in a past episode). My heart hurts. Dino is very young - and very intelligent- I think people communicate differently. Some use words - some use pictures…. That is key!!!!!!! It just made me sad.
This challenge should have been called “Family Therapy!” I do appreciate them dealing with realistic scenarios in a competition, & w/ art critiquing in general! You have to develop a tough skin!!
It’s almost like Elli and Dimitri are being guided by a therapist or someone with a bit of knowledge in psychology and family dynamics. Family members have to collaborate with John. Has everyone had a turn? 🤣
I found it very interesting how father and son battled… and I do not want to give a psychological statement but I want to emphasise that u both have very well educated children - even at their young age, they have for my opinion, a highly developed emotional intelligence 👍😍 I am also educated in Art Therapie and there is a tool called ‚Color Dialog‘. People work in groups (2-appr. 6) on one single sheet of paper with neocolor II by Caran‘dache without talking…in silence (their subconscious talk to each other ) and one after the other is allowed to paint with one Color till he/she has finished. The others have to wait and watch…No figures… only forms… with energy. This goes round and round till the whole group’feels’ the painting is finished. You cannot imagine what it does to all participants and what cool results it gives……
So hard to pick. I love them both. I think the critiques were spot on. Unfortunately, I would not hang either in my house. So I would have to pick the one that made me feel the best when looking at it - and that is the rainbow one the girls did.
OMG, I LOVE WATCHING YOU GUYS!! 😂😂 You guys are more dysfunctional than MY family!! 🤣 🤣 And I have only watched up to the beginning of the night/day challenge. If it were me I would do horizon line with night rain, flip canvas, Sunny day. This should be a hoot to watch! 🤦♀️
I loved John’s and Dino’s painting soooo much! I loved how John’s doodles were super subtle after being painted on. Almost like a hidden language. Just amazing art work!!!!
Given the difficulties between John and Dino, they did an amazing job. The weirdest thing is that all that strife was turned into a painting that has a peaceful and focused effect. It looks like a visual meditation - just look at that focus almost dead center, like a mind suddenly cleared of its chatter and hitting that quiet spot. They should not touch that painting again. It is perfect as it is. All the parts come together as a perfect creation.
@@angiert9318I agree. John is the “genius” version … my son level 3 autism; profound mental retardation; severe PANDAS (strep in the brain) is nonverbal. I tried everything to try and teach him. When I finally figured out he learns visually - you could see his blank dead eyes literally light up literally just like a lightbulb went off in his brain- I am his 24/7 caregiver- I live this and understand how visuals change the brain or how when someone makes these visuals - getting thoughts out…. And how much one can learn either way - from genius to zero IQ- it gives my son a chance at seeing and learning the world in lieu of self injurious behaviors from the pain (PANDAS- swollen brain). I hope this made sense.
I was laughing through this whole episode. This to me sums up trying to do any project as a family. I don’t think fault goes on either of them because I feel like it was very back and forth and this is just a father/child dynamic. The painting is beautiful and so in the end they still pulled it off.
I would have absolutely disqualified Dino and Freezy - and perhaps that will show up in the results. That said, I think the comments were bang on - that Dino and Freezy's painting was heading toward a higher-level result, but didn't quite make the grade. More work on it would have elevated the result. Their painting didn't actually convey the required components of the competition, either. Dafni and Dalia's painting was joyful and colourful (though the shape of the moon bothers me, too) and I really loved it overall, but if I had to judge the 4 competitors based on just this painting I think Dino and Freezy would vie for the top spot. I do believe that together they made a better painting than either of them would have done as individuals.
Ugh, how dare a father tell their child their painting, mid-process, or ever, is gross. I feel so bad for dino having to work with John. Even worse, he's been raised by this man...Dino you deserve better than this. John, shame on you as an artist, a father, and communicator you have massively failed. No amount of pretty art supercedes the ugliness that went into making it.
I love the color orange, but the girls painting I feel has too much I wish they had done half and half with the orange and purple/blue. The guys painting just looks like a purple and blue square with a hint of orange/yellow. So, I'm torn as to who to choose. Why was Elli allowed to touch their painting and change it? To me that wasn't fair. In the end my vote is for the girls.
I feel like i know you all so well now. Just by watching this. Lol. John pouting. If hes not pouting, then Dino is. Your family is great. And them kids are all adorable.
Many word salads. It's time to be on target. It's time to create definite understanding. As someone attempting to watch this kayos it's painful. Trust is important in All relationships.
Dino is a sook.. his dad has had many more years experience than him ..where is the respect in this family..maybe Dino should have had more fun he was way to serious.. love John
I so look forward to these episodes but the two collaboration challenges are awkward and uncomfortable to watch - three hours of nagging and bickering. And personally I do love the whole family - but it was too much..not enjoyable
I liked the boys painting but agree that the bottom darks needed more juicy and darker areas. I didn't care for the stylized parts in the bottom right and left of the girl's painting, Elli told them to soften those parts and change the line qualities and have them appear and disappear and had they done that it would've made the painting much more appealing and less stylized. I generally don't like collaborations I feel it's not fair to send anyone home on a collaboration only judge them on their own individual work of art.
Why is John acting like a 4 year old kid. I never see him really laughing. I watched every episode and season and never a laugh of John. I feel sorry for him 😢❤ it I love them all 😁💝
Probably because his child pushed his buttons for 2 days and he was trying to redeem himself from his previous less than flattering public display of emotion. I thought John was very composed, considering.🤷♀️
OMG! Faminly should never do reality tv together, the bickering in outrageous, it feels like it really should have been edited out I wanna know what happens but I don't want to listen so its like skip, skip, skip....see whats painted at the end, I've been watching about 2mins of these hour long episode... Season 2 and 3 are sooooo much better! You all have really improved and stepped up your game from this! well done!
Walking in Peniston you can be in sunshine and see the rain on the opposite mountain, stunning. And you can see on a warm day the sun setting with the moon in the same vista.
“Use your words please daddy”. Wtf? I say that when my son is crying trying to express his nonverbal pain. He literally can’t. That is when I’ve exhausted all my everything. What do you do when you can’t use words when your frustration is beyond your human capabilities????? Wow. WOW wow. Dino 😩
Dalia and Dafnis painting is best because it reflects harmony. Even though I prefer the colours of Dino and Freezy, I wouldnt choose it because it reflects disharmony and disunity.
Dino, I was on your side until I saw the handcuff incident… John said you’d get disqualified and you brushed it off. I’m interested to see if that affects the votes
This is really not good eliminating people as this could ruin their confidence for life?? This Milan Art has become like the art schools they hate. All this best and worse and winning and loosing just kills a person's creativity.
I think the Hand cuffs were horrible and feel bad for the son as dad sorry was not very nice to his son and critical and put down any thing he did , was so difficult for him. I also feel bad for John as was very clear that he was triggered with the handcuffs I am sure this made a differences ,I loved Kates and Dalias painting
Not my favorite episode for sure. Not because of the challenges or the resulting paintings, more about how casually Elli pours salt in the wounds of the artists. Letting us in on their areas of vulnerability, which a lot of that I felt was inside info. Maybe that’s intentional. To rub them raw to reveal the true artist underneath the veneer.
Working together at same time in one canvas, is big no no for me, but maybe swaping canvas is better. Ever been there, and it doesnt work good, because like everybody wanna put their vision. And the i will always be the passive one, because i dont wanna debate 😂
Love the show , but the amount of times everyone uses the word ‘like’ way too much, is hard to watch . Maybe it’s from the area they live in maybe , but I do love the show
This was painful. I have enjoyed every episode except this one. The handcuffs were ridiculous. I really love your family of artist as I am one myself but I was disappointed and frankly triggered. JS
Let me just add. I think the family dynamic is excellent. The kids laugh with and love their dad so one can see that there is no trauma or long term consequences of any behavior. I personally cannot deal with that amount of arguing which reflects on me and my upbringing more so than on the effects that confrontation has on these children.
But John and Dino did manage to create something bigger than their differences. Sometimes I have a similar experience creating a painting all on my own, but battling this way and that way, often for a very long time, before it suddenly comes together in a most unexpected way.
If anyone wants to know how not to make a reality show watch this. 😂😂 It was very painful to watch quite toxic unfortunately. The fact that the judges say I wish you had of done this! I wish you had of done that! is damn annoying. If my husband was saying this to me I’d be saying where are the divorce papers. Individuality is so precious please let it happen. I have been hanging out for every episode but the last few have been difficult to watch. I am looking forward to the next episode hoping it’s a little more upbeat.
I think, this extreme collaboration painting challenge was not a good idea. We don’t need to hear psychological analysis of artist, we just want to see and enjoy the artwork. Critique art work ONLY, not the artist. Please!
Y’all are criticizing John, while Dino is the one most controlling….he just deflects blame while he does his own thing. John had very little input in my opinion. Dino should never have covered his dads work.
I have loved watching all the outstanding artists vids. This episode disgusted me. I thought it was a painting competition not an art class. Mum trying to put what she would do. She is a narcissistic and poor Dad is on the autistic spectrum in my opinion but brilliant artist, poor kids who know no better.
Dino should be eliminated solely based on manipulating the rules and pretending like he didn't know. I can't believe I am going to say this, but John exhibited the patience of a Saint! Dino was being so passive-aggressive, leaning over John, discounting every effort and idea John had. And the few times John actually asserted himself in a non-controling way, Dino acted all innocent like he hadn't done anything wrong, "Deddy??" 🤮 I felt so bad for John when Dino blacked out John's one contribution. Finally, John stopped "going along" and slightly pushed back. 🫸 I absolutely didn't blame him, he had taken enough. The girls were so sweet the way they each gave in to the other, had fun with each other and created a beautiful piece. Lastly, Elli, I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE your hair that length and style!! Gorgeous!
Need to add second comment..into day 2 have stopped watching due to Johns behaviour actually his telling dino hed making things worse is now quite disgusting to see
Wow Dino is incredibly annoying. He ruined this episode for me. He needs to learn that when someone is upset or frustrated that standing there trying to push their buttons and demanding them to answer is very wrong. It shows how incredibly patience John is because most people would have snapped. Dino clearly cheated and was throwing a tantrum all episode and should be eliminated
Dino is 15. Freezy/John is his father and was totally unwilling to listen or communicate. Dino tried hard during the actual painting to communicate and collaborate. I didn't find John patient at all. And both of them knew they were breaking the rules and should have been disqualified, or be made to lose points in the tallying of votes. Allowing them to continue just says you don't have to follow the rules since there will be no consequences...
Right?? 💯! Dino was pushing his patience and I kept thinking, if I had done that to my father, I would have probably had my arm yanked out of the socket. 😂
I have my doubts about this choice of Kate. Her portrait was better than some others. I think she had no chance to win at any time because the money stays in the family 😢Still love them all so much 😁💝
I feel like Dino as the youngest child got caught between trying to please both parents. And because his dad clammed up on him, he lacked direction but didn’t dare to take over when his dad gave up and abandoned him.

Dalia seemed very upset from losing the left handed challenge.
Girls’ painting is so colorful and very abstract.

I love the girls painting!!!!!
Many word salads. It's time to be on target. It's time to create definite understanding. As someone attempting to watch this kayos it's painful. Trust is important in All relationships.
Dino is a sook.. his dad has had many more years experience than him ..where is the respect in this family..maybe Dino should have had more fun he was way to serious.. love John
What do you guys use for pallets? My acrylic pallets are always a mess…yours always look new.
I think they just communicate differently.
They switched cuff sides at 2:18 and 2:25.
Feels more like Mom’s art class.
Well it IS.
It's NOT your regular momma's art!
Working together at same time in one canvas, is big no no for me, but maybe swaping canvas is better. Ever been there, and it doesnt work good, because like everybody wanna put their vision. And the i will always be the passive one, because i dont wanna debate 😂
The handcuffs is just to much, collaborating with someone else is already SO challenging. So silly 😏. But I love watching the outstanding artist.
Love the show , but the amount of times everyone uses the word ‘like’ way too much, is hard to watch . Maybe it’s from the area they live in maybe , but I do love the show
Dimitra definitely does that a lot in videos I've watched. It is very American.
The irony. Maybe, maybe. 😂
Dalia’s mom had to help her with her drawing …… why did she win
This show is stressful to watch ..not relaxing😢
But John and Dino did manage to create something bigger than their differences. Sometimes I have a similar experience creating a painting all on my own, but battling this way and that way, often for a very long time, before it suddenly comes together in a most unexpected way.
But then…that’s how it functions in a creative studio, competition is difficult and often stifles creativity, despite this I love this vlog !❤
I agree that I found this episode very stressful to watch. I speeded it up to double time. Very hard to listen to everyone speak over each other.
If anyone wants to know how not to make a reality show watch this. 😂😂
It was very painful to watch quite toxic unfortunately.
John has decades more experience, but Dino is not respecting him. John is making sense….he knows what he’s doing. Dino is 15! Please!
oh my dear frezi is so edged up and i get it but i also feel for deno
I think, this extreme collaboration painting challenge was not a good idea. We don’t need to hear psychological analysis of artist, we just want to see and enjoy the artwork. Critique art work ONLY, not the artist. Please!
John needs to grow up and realize it's not all about him. Shame on him.. He's not a team player at all.
Omg I hope you watched your lack of communication with your incredible son. So wrong.
This was not enjoyable, watching father and son. The father was acting like child. There was no give and take. Sad
For heaven sake John tell him your ideas.
STOP talking OVEReach over!
Gorgeous!
Need to add second comment..into day 2 have stopped watching due to Johns behaviour actually his telling dino hed making things worse is now quite disgusting to see
The disrespect that everybody has for john.. He is really supporting you guys, he doesn't need this at all. It is really disrespectful.
And you don't find that he is being disrespectful toward them?
Got pretty annoying tbh with the complaining
John has narcissistic personality
