- Emma Thompson received her Golden Globe award for the screenplay of Sense and Sensibility. She payed homage to Jane Austen by giving her acceptance speech as if it was a reflection on the evening by Jane herself.
It's great because she won the award for adapting a screenplay and then proved with this speech how much she deserved it.
"And Miss Kate Winslet, beautiful in both countenance and spirit" 😭❤️
The most inteligent Golden Globe speech ever!
Thank goodness she won!! Otherwise, that amazing acceptance speech would've been left unheard.
She is a national treasure. Hope the Brits appreciate her!
She's now a Dame.
She's now Dame Emma Thompson so I think they do
Oh, we do
This is THE best speech ever! Emma is so hilarious and smart!
She’s absolutely amazing! 💞
I think a lot of people forget, or perhaps don't realize, that she was originally a comedienne. She started out with the illustrious likes of Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie - who are also commonly recognized, at least in America, as more serious dramatic actors than comedians, but who also began their careers in something more akin to sketch comedy than Jane Austen, V for Vendetta, House, and that ilk - in comedy, in the Footlights at Cambridge. She is indeed very funny!
I remember coming across magazines with B&W photos of her uni days with the boys - before the internet.
What I didn't know was that S&S was her very first attempt at a screenplay. To win both the Oscar & Golden Globe on a first try also speaks to her brilliance.
The film was epic, one of my favorites still...and Emma, well, she is a treasure we are blessed with
She kills this, one of the best acceptance speeches ever. Plus - she looks hot.
Yes but that damn hair falling over her face all the time!
Best speech in history, gosh she's brilliant
Did you see her in Angels in America ❤
She is a national treasure. Hope the Brits appreciate her.
Best speech ever! When she won at the Academy Awards later, I wished she'd saved this speech for then, but I guess she couldn't risk it since she may not have won a second time.
I think she wouldn't have the time to do it at the Oscars. People barely have the time to thank their parents and the music cuts them off 😂 But you're right, it would have been EPIC!
An even greater honor considering the excellent movies that were also nominated.
A veritable mixture of beauty, wit and humour. Brilliant Emma
"Mr ANG LEE of foreign extraction who seemed to understand me more than I understand myself!"
"Mr Ang Lee, of foreign extraction"
I love Emma in all her movies
This is one of my favorite movies!
Emma is just brilliant!
The cast is absolutely sublime!
in love with every word of this speech! a brilliant mix of genius and wit. she is such a gem that Emily Tompkinson :)
She is hilarious. Funny, talented and poised.
You have to be artsy and boldly creative to be such a good actor!
There have been so many films, tv appearances etc. in which Emma has appeared and I believe I may have seen them all -she is a gem! 💎
Best speech ever. A classic!
She’s so brilliant. Only seen this donkeys after the event. What a clever, funny and humble girl. You rick Emma!
Simply one of the best speeches ever
The britishers definitely do their homework. Who would put so much effort in an acceptance speech?!!
I adore Emma.
Thats ist! Thats why I love her!!!
That was amazing! Love her.
Emma Brilliant.
Really, she could be Austen reincarnated, her wit is so Austen-like.
She is the best, always!
'Emily Tompkinson' lol

HAHAHHA! The golden spheres!! I DIED!!!
Best speech
Superb! Very creatively done.
One he'll of a razor- funny, brilliant speech! Wow, I don't think half of them understood... Janet Seymour? pfft! BRAVO, EMMA T.'
Jane Seymour is actually incredibly smart... I'm pretty sure she understood. But I agree that Emma Thompson is the absolute best. ❤️
Makes sense that Jodie looks like the only one getting and appreciating it.
this one comment section I LOVE ! well done guys !

She is so hilarious and she absolutely deserved this. But I’m also lol when she tried to pull a strand of hair to one side. It just looked so funny to me. Lovely greetings from the Netherlands 🇳🇱
GOSH, she is just smart, lovable and beautiful!
I apparently wasn’t listening when they announced the category, and I thought “he wasn’t in ‘Mr. Holland’s Opus’ I see that movie poster in my home every day.” Then I thought “Why can’t I find that brilliant and touching movie? We can put a man on the moon, but I can’t see a wonderful movie”?
Emma, so talented and yet you leave the hotel KNOWING your hair is going to fall and cover half your face EVERY SINGLE TIME YOU MOVE YOUR HEAD? Always great, and brilliant in every roll you take on.
Just do something with the hair honey.
got to say she is good
Emma Thompson in her prime she could of did Titanic if it would of came out earlier
It seems the only thing not quite agreeing with Emma on this evening were her bangs.
AWW YEAH
2:08
have she worked on Jane's Novel Emma as well? I wish she does someday.
Nefarious creature! Lol ♡
She didn’t mention Hugh ?
She didn’t mention Hugh grant, her leading man of the movie. Guess they didn’t get on well at that time
She only mentioned Kate Winslet among her co-stars in that film.
Who is the cute award announcer next to the ghoul?😂
Anne Archer
Nefarious creature! LOL
