- Is the affordable camping cookware set from Amazon any good? In this Odoland camping cookware kit review, we'll find out. Full review here: hikemuch.com/odoland-cookware...
I purchased the Odoland camping cooking set a few months ago and so far, I've used it about ten to twenty times while day hiking and overnight camping. Although this set is branded by Odoland, it's basically identical to many other cheap camping cookware sets sold under different Chinese brands, such as Bisgear, MalloMe, Petforu, G4Free, and many others. Most likely it's an identical set, manufactured in a single factory, only sold by different re-sellers.
Although it's not the most durable open fire cookware set, it's very affordable. Personally, I think that the stainless steel cup that comes with this set is basically useless, so I never bring it with me. The foldable knife, fork, and spoon also don't feel too durable. And I already broke one of the legs off from the plastic attachment for the gas canister.
That said, I do like the camping stove that comes with this set. It feels really durable and works flawlessly. It's not the most efficient igniters out there (11:30 minutes to reach boiling temperature,) but it does the job just fine.
Overall, I like this camping cookware set. If you're a beginner, you don't need to invest 80$+ in an expensive camping stove, cooking pots, and eating utensils. If you don't have the budget for something more premium, I'd say that it's safe to purchase this one.

"If you're watching this you probably already bought it" nailed that 💯 lmao
I did 😂
Yeah
*Surprised pikachu face
That's not what he said...
Brilliant little stove!
I bought the stove in the plastic box over 8 years ago. It still works great and I think the main reason is it's stored in the plastic box. The pot support arms could get bent if rolling around in a pack. I've seen similar versions in the store, but no storage box. I just bought a second stove to keep in my truck bug-out pack. Good video review.
This is going in my emergency kit in my car. This review is exactly what I needed thank you so much!
You are an absolute pro. Good voice, good video angles, very precise and straight to the point. Keep going and you will be BIG on UA-cam. Thank you for sharing!
You said it all
You are a very professional youtuber, good structure and voice and co.
Thank you so much for this review tutorial. I just got this for Christmas & am so excited with how lightweight it is & self contained! Can’t wait to use it! Happy New Year 2024! 👊🏻🤩👍🏻
I can't speak for the set. But the mini stove is great. I used it for 4 days on the AT. I saw others using more expensive stoves that were heavier and didn't include built in igniters. I used it with the stanley 2 cup cookset and tossed one of the thermo cups to make room for an eatntool, rag, and tea or you could use a 100ml gas can.
Really great job - everything we were wondering about, answered in detail!
Thanks for the informative video. I’m a beginner and just planning my first section A hike on PCT. this helped me decide to give it a try. Don’t want to spot fortune if it turns out long distance hiking is not for me. Thanks again.
Thanks for the review 👍
Found this video very useful, thank you. Is there any other kit you would recommend for a beginner, slightly more sturdy or efficient? Thank you!
I've just ordered this based on this review..... Cheers mate great video
Great stuff ! You got a new subscriber
Keep it up
Thank you so much for this!
Thanks, think I am going to give this a go as it is cheap and only my first one so don't want to spend a lot.
Do the green propane tanks wofk withcit? I got one and was gonna buy the coleman propane tanks.
Another great review I like this stuff better than the BRS 3000 a little bit bigger more purchase base for your pot. Keep up the good work can't wait for the next one
thanks, looking for one now
When using the mini stove on the pre-pain gas tank can u take it off when finishing cooking or do I leave it on all the time tell gas is out
Thank you so much because this was one of the ones I was comparing and wondered if it was any good. I already have a swiss army utensil thing where the fork and spoon detach and it also has a knife, bottle opener and can opener, and it's in a little felt bag so it doesn't scratch the inside of my dishes. And I have a silicone collabsible travel mug, it's a tad bulky tbh but it was the best model, and it doesn't leak when you knock it over if it's shut or the straw is in, so now I use that cup for everything.
But my current cookset is the old stainless steel pots my family has had since I was a kid, and they have anging-handles, not side-handles, so they are hard to pick up and very very hard to pour from, and they aren't nonstick and a lot of these newer pots look like they have a nonstick coating, can you confirm if this is nonstick? And have you used it much since making this video? Thank you so much for the information though, especially about the stove, I was particularly attracted to this one coming with a stove included and even a protective case, but I know stoves can be finnicky and leak, so it's really good to know this is a promising set with a promising stove all in one.
I bought this very same set. Haven’t used it yet. The pros and cons are what I expect them to be since this was so cheap
I have this exact set. I love the pots. The stove works even if it isn’t the best. I like the stand and all handles have lasted several years. The cup is cool but it’s better to ditch it to fit the gas can. The utensils suck period. Good job.
Exactly my thoughts. Since publishing this video, I've updated the pot to the Toaks titanium pot, and the spork to the Lightmyfire titanium spork. I've saved some weight and they're much easier to use and of better quality. But honestly, I don't think that you really need them. The Toaks pot is 37$, and the spork is 19$. Now compare that to the whole Odoland set, which costs just 27$, and you can see that the minor quality improvements don't really outweigh the price. Unless you're using them quite often, or if you're rich, haha.
Did the Tripod Stand break from to much weight or from removing the Gas Can on and off many times ?.
Buen trabajo! Siempre tiene más valor una revisión hecha después de unos cuantos usos... seguí asi!
Yo hablo solo un poco de espanol pero gracias!
I have ones that are similar can I use them directly on the stove in a kitchen?
I have the same set. Its great
I have already bought it and have been using it for a couple of years to cook, so not sure why I'm here.
I've Got Two Of These And I Find Them To Be Very Well Made For The Money...The Stove Could Be A Bit More Powerful But In All For My Campin Adventures Maybe 2-3 Overnighters...I Will Highly Recommend This To All On A Bugget...Great Deal...
Do they fit onto any screw on canister ???
Okay I have a question and still wvent been awnsered can you use and gas canister or is it brand specific
I purchased this in 2019 and worked pretty well. Now I want to use it again and I set it up and it works as it produces the hissing sound when you turn the knob. After a quick re set up again after a few minutes I couldn’t hear the hissing sound anymore. Could anyone help me with this ? The gas canister is full. No physical blocks anywhere…
Bonjour is it a good gaz stove ?
Is it windproof ?
Good overview, thanks! What's the brand of the 2-in-1 fork/spoon?
The pic in the video showed another spork that I got off the internet, but personally, I use the Light My Fire titanium spork from Amazon. I think it's one of the most popular ones there, it's very lightweight, and so far I haven't had any issues with it. You can find it here (affiliate link): amzn.to/3gEKfe0
The one thing that bothers me about the stove is the comparatively small spread of the arms which makes it very easy for a full pot to slide off and fall with very little shaking. You'd wish there was a metal attachment similar to the plastic one for the fuel can stabilizer that would unfold, snap on and more or less cradle the pot. Guess I'll have to make my own....
The plastic legs for the canister from any manufacturer are a PIA to put on. All of them are fragile. I know because I have two of them. Wow, I don't know how far this young man hikes in a day because I see a 6 cup Moka Pot and an aluminum bottle, both increase the weight you carry. I ordered this set from EBay because of the case for the stove. I already have 6 stoves (I'm a gear freak), and 3 cooking sets. The stoves I have purchased over the years from the old Svea 123, to an MSR XGK, to a CampingGaz Bluet to a Soto Amicus and a Jetboil. The last two work just fine.
800ml cup, throw the small 'cup', gas stand and orange box along with the cutlery.
Replace that space with oxo cubes, powdered soup and sachets for hot drinks.
I like how he throws the knife and the cup. Lol. I would have done the same thing.
Great review video. Very well done.. I have this cooking set and did a review but not as refined as yours. I'm still learning how to do videos. I love this stove and set. It has held up very well and is a great value!
I just bought this stove, I have alot of the small green gas canister. This stove wont fit
@@williambaxter4951 It fits the standard 7.75 ounce cannisters. The first fuel cannister i bought was the small green Coleman 16 ounce cannisters. They don't fit. Hope that helps. -Randy
Nice video, you have yourself a subscriber... Tell me please about pots build material, is it aluminium? And can you answer me as someone who have more experience....does aluminium post are bad for our health when it gets heeted???? I'm about to buy my first set but don't know that much on the topic?
I have this stove many year ago and I have had never had any problem with the handels
I heard that there’s lead in the pots, is this true?
I have this stove…mine boils water just over 2 minutes
Great vid! Any update on these after 1 year? Would be interesting to know
Thanks! Everything's still going strong. 😉 I still use the camping stove, but I upgraded to a titanium spork and a titanium pot. I used the stove on my 36-day thruhike, three times per day. The original pot and utensils still work, but I don't use them because I have something lighter now.
I melted some of the plastic stuff off my pot's handle, but it's not a big deal, works fine. I did upgrade to a Jetboil, but will still use these to rehydrate food in them with water from the Jetboil.
There is an accessory pot support for the jet boil so you could use the pots on the Jetboil. Works great and nests in the JB
It works i still use the pots the stove didn't kast long. You can fit a pocket rocket 2 lighters spoon and a can of gas inside.. its perfect.
Thank you!
You are so right.
I bought my first stove a cheap one from Amazon. It fail on day 2. I learned my
Lesson. Now it’s MSR and SnowPeak.
The big brands DO sell this exact set - I mentioned it in my latest video, that Vango and Gelert rebrand this pot and another cookset which I have (the pot with lid and frying pan) as theirs, but for all I can tell, it's the exact same.
Maybe some QC, but that's what Amazon/ebay returns is for! And whereas the pot and pan I got was £7 on eBay, they sell theirs for £30-40+.
"...it has no use in the forest."
Proceeds to then throw the item into the forest.
Lol, i kid i kid!
Is the stove ignitor a standard fit onto any size gas canister?
yes
As your opening up the fuel can support legs you have to be inserting the can and wrap it around the base of the fuel can! Like threading on! It not designed to snap on. Lol
Could u put a regular pan on the outside cooker instead of using that pan?
I think so, but I'm not sure if open fire wouldn't damage a regular pan.
how does it compare to the optimus crux?
Not sure, haven't used that one.
I have a question: after using the butane stove, can you unscrew it (take it off) and does the canister seal itself or does gas start escaping it because it’s been used?
Yeah you can unscrew it and there won't be any gas leaks
@@AverageBishop- thank you!
could you fit instant ramen into it without breaking the noodles?
For me I do not like the strong chemical smell that gets even stronger when the pots when in contact with water. It cannot be safe.
I got it as a gift, but do not know if I will using it for cooking, maybe storage.
Dude, this set is sold $34 on Amazon via your link. Price increases so much
That's what happens when they start printing money haha. Probably also due to restricted trade from china
@@OscarHikes There's a couple models. One for $20 ditched the cup and silverware is now just a spork.
This comment is going to serve as a handy barometer for inflation for years to come 👀
This is now Shaymar on Amazon UK, same kit
You can buy this stove on its own or just with the pots in the U.K.
The stove is available just on its own under many different names - I bought a Sandy Beach one for £11.99
Should have watched this last year when I bought this and got the wrong gas canister ( without thread)…obviously couldn’t get the stove going 😢 got the right gas now 😊
All i wanted to know
cant get my stove to turn on
Anytime i put my stove on high it flames out . Like if there is too much coming out??? Is that normal ?? Dont want it blowing up on me lol
I don't know, but mine does not do that.
Ordered this from Walmart, got it today. It did not come with the fuel canister. I will have to try to find that?
Fuel doesn't come with any camping stove right out of the box. You can get them in outdoor stores, fishing stores, home depot, e.t.c. just get the screw-on one, not the "easy-clic" type.
@@OscarHikes I can understand why it doesn’t come with the fuel canister. I just wanna make sure I get the proper fuel. Thank you sir
But also... Who's boiling a full 800ml?
with that boiltime, fuel cost would be a factor
Good informative review but I would pass on it. I would like a little more quality and you cons made my decision.
How long does that gas can last when using it? Like hours?
On average, a gas canister burns about 2g per minute. So a standard 220g canister should last for about 2 hours.
Also, don't use it for longer than 15-20 minutes without letting it cool off first, because the canister can overheat and explode in rare occasions.
So if the pot takes 11 minutes to boil, you’d have 9 minutes at most (which is pushing it) to boil something? That seems almost like a con worth mentioning, compared to stoves which boil quicker
What are you taking with you on a Backcountry trip where you'd use this stove that needs 9 minutes of boiling?
While I haven’t tested the pots myself I have seen reviews from people who say these pots test positive for lead. Not all that surprising being as they’re the cheap Chinese stuff.
Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if they were. I don't have a clue on how you could test them for lead though, haha.
is it a problem with anodized aluminum if it containts lead? since it's anodized , it won't react with food
I didn't get mines from Amazon got mines from stealth Angel it's been a working charm for yrs
I got one for 200 points on the “pinata” app but it’s limited so by the time y’all download it it’ll be sold out 😭
the water wasn't boiling at all and even with this stove it doesn't take 11 minutes to bring water to boil so I'm pretty sure you got that wrong but I have the same stove and it takes around 5 minutes to bring water to a boil bur it's still a good stove for the price and it still serves its purpose
2 years and even a 36-day thru-hike later, I'm still using the same stove. The button igniter stopped working but otherwise, it's still a good stove. And yeah, boiling about 400-500ml, which is what I usually need, takes 5 mins max.
@@OscarHikes what I found out that helps get the igniter back to working is bending it slightly toward the burner and then trying it should get it back to working in no time it took me a little bit of trial and error to figure out but I got it to work
the pots have lead in them, buy the stove and get the rest separately
hii all!
Pēc akcenta atpazinu, ka latvietis :)

That's $7.00 +free ship on Aliexpres
Can i have things that you threw away?
you have to purchase the gas. so your incorrect in saying you do not have to purchase anything else.
nope i use this same kit for over 4 years still like new
11 mins to boil water WOW. Vango compact stove costs £12 and does it under 3 mins. This set definitely a no for me.
Yeah, it's very inefficient. That said, my guess is that the Vango stove isn't that efficient in real life as well. The product descriptions are usually over-optimized. But it's probably still more efficient than the Odoland stove, haha.
That was also the time to boil 27 oz. Most of the time you won't be boiling that much.
@@tickdaddy81 True. Just went camping with a bunch of my friends for a week, and I noticed that It's just as efficient as any of the regular camping stoves, that don't have any walls and airflow channels for optimizing the flame. One of my friends had an identical stove, just from a much more expensive brand, and it reached boiling temperature just as fast. Also, boiling coffee takes about 2-3 mins. When boiling 300-400ml in my Toaks 650ml pot, it takes maybe 3-4 mins.
That is a full water pot.Thats why it takes few min. How about full blast.
The better question from this video is, can this stove improve your testosterone level. xD
You claim to be able to live without the stand yet you kept using it! Smart not to risk it.
too much water
This junk makes me want to stay home and order a pizza!😮
Who the fck is in a rush of boiling watterbwill hicking/trekking ? I'm enjoyng the nature and patiently waiting..not chronometering the stove :)))) fcking hell
I don't wanna make China to be a Rich any more.
I dont like it. The whole reason i hike is to get far enough from society to build fires and not be harassed.
It's made for ppl with gas stoves. Seems like you're set without 1.
Some people want to get away but not have to worry about building a fire sometimes
This is not saving insurance fool this is about camping wait aren't you the guy from the insurance commercial on Facebook yes or no 😭🤣💨
