There's a ton of people that give guitar lessons on you tube But they only teach bits never the hole song and most of them jump straight in to the lesson It's not till you learn it that you relies it's a cheap knock off to what you want to learn I love that you played it first I loved that you explained it by frets and strings it was like you was just taking tab I loved that you tell the strumming pattern The best guitar teacher on here Thank you for not treating me like a idiot I don't know if you will read this but thanks P.s could you teach you've got a friend in me

Most of the others waste lots of time talking or don’t clearly show what they are playing. young man, you are an incredibly talented musician! anyone who can play Django, Avenged Sevenfold, Metallica and Prince, and play it all with feeling, precision and expert level aptitude is deserving of my respect, admiration and envy. i tip my hat to you and call you Maestro!
I don't mean to brag or anything like that, I'm a very humble person by nature, but I can finally play this song consistently, without much difficulty. It took me a while, but I finally got to a point where I'm comfortable with the tempo. The key is to start slow and work your way up. Now as for playing with two fingers, what I'm trying to get at is that I am self-taught and have really poor technique, so when I play fast, I tend to go back to my roots of playing melodies with only 2 or 3 fingers and if I force myself to, I can play this solo at original speed. In some ways, it actually makes it easier for me, cause I spend less time worrying about grips and where my fingers should be. I also may or may not have some kind of medical condition related to hand-eye coordination, which also makes it easier for me to just slide down the neck with one finger at the 1:37 part. In fact, if you've learned the way have, you already have the timing down, so its second nature and you mostly just need to work on your right hand technique, which is the main reason it took me so long to get this song down. I started with fingerstyle, classical and flamenco guitar, so I never learned to use a pick, but here I had to re-learn to strum with very small movements, in order to keep up with the tempo properly. Still don't use a pick, tho my nails are long enough that I don't have to anymore. I used the song misirlou to make it a bit more fun to practice strumming properly :)

I'm getting back into playing music, and when I first picked up guitar, I noticed that my own technique was very much inspired by Django - watching you work the fret board, I'm seeing habits I do in my own playing! Mel Bay's great, but Django's style just feels more intuitive for me. Thank you for breaking it down!

I learnt to improvise over satin dol and it's amazing how just learning one standard helps your musical vocabulary for tons of other stuff....keep up the good work :)

Here the fingers, Django can play with: Before he had a chance to start with the band, however, Reinhardt nearly died. On the night of 2 November 1928, Reinhardt was going to bed in the wagon that he and his wife shared in the caravan. Apparently, he knocked over a candle, which ignited the extremely flammable celluloid that his wife used to make artificial flowers. The wagon was quickly engulfed in flames. The couple escaped, but Reinhardt suffered extensive burns over half his body. During his 18 month hospitalization, doctors apparently recommended amputation for his badly damaged right leg. Reinhardt refused the surgery and was eventually able to walk with the aid of a cane. More crucial to his music, the third finger (ring finger) and fourth finger (pinky) of Reinhardt’s left hand were badly burned. Doctors believed that he would never play guitar again. Reinhardt applied himself intensely to relearning his craft, however, making use of a new guitar bought for him by his brother, Joseph Reinhardt, who was also an accomplished guitarist. While he never regained the use of those two fingers, Reinhardt regained his musical mastery by focusing on his left index and middle fingers, using the two injured fingers only for chord work.
