- Voted as first review. The 9019 smaller sibling. Great size, writes well, good posted balance. AND a great price!

It is a great alternative to the 9019 of you have smaller hands. Sometimes my hand prefers different widths of the pen. The biggest benefit is that it has the large converter similar to the 9019. I didn't realize that it is a bit thinner. The ink capacity is a tiny bit smaller.
I also like it has flanges on the interior of the barrel to support the converter.
Great review.
Thanks, it is all about the pen.
Chris, the Jinhao 9016 is also available with a #6 heartbeat nib. Just recently purchased one on eBay .
Good get. I didn't see that when I ordered mine.
Excellent review, with very helpful observations and comparisons with similar Jinhao models.
Glad it was helpful!
My orange-red 9016 arrived at the same time as my 9019 Heartbeat. Love both of them, they're excellent pens!
Great pens & nibs, enjoy!
Hi Chris again a most excellent review. Very thorough.
Glad you enjoyed it
I put a number 6 Bock 1.1 stub on my Jinhao 9016 and it's my favourite every day pen now.
That Bock nib is great. I enjoy mine. Thanks for watching.
I received the 9013. I converted it to an eyedropper. It holds about 3.75ml of ink! It should last me throughout the summer and a bit longer. I know it has metal threads but what the heck, why not try it?
The converter still rattles using the standard Jinhao converter and it doesn't have the ink capacity of the 9016 or the 9019.
The price of the pen is extremely reasonable. Nice in the hand. The Heartbeat nib is very wet but now I have enough ink to go with this wet writer.
Did you order one?
Yes, but delivery is delayed.
Have ordered this pen today in black colour with medium nib.. hope it will be my favourite than 9019 due to its compact size and unique heartbeat nib..
Black with Heartbeat nib, great combo!
Great video. You have wet writing in most of your videos, but my Jinhao x850 and 100 centennial skip at certain angles. I use cartridges as less messy - is it the ink or is the pen that I need to change? Any advice would be much appreciated (I want to stay with Chinese pens for accessibility). Thanks
I don't use cartridges. I have had flow issues with them. No way to prime the feed. I suggest using a converter. If that is too messy, fill converter with a syringe.
My 9016s write like a dream... I have this one and the transparent brown.
What is Jinhao doing with their nibs? I have much (I mean "much") more expensive pens that do not give me this writing experience AT ALL.
They are listening to us!
thanks for the show.
Any time!
Agree on the turns to uncap. Too bad - way too many turns for me. Anything more than two eliminates it from consideration as I take a lot of short quick notes. The less the better.
I love mine, great value. Im wondering when they will release converters and cartridges for this pen and the 9019. I have not find them just yet.
Your 9019 converter was GEN 1. Now gen 2 is with crystal end.
Yes, see my video or recent 9019 - ua-cam.com/video/13RI5Jzhkdk/v-deo.html
@@chrisrap52 yes, i also got the 9019 heart beat in trans olive. marvellous pen, but excessive untunable ink flow
I enjoy a generous ink flow, shows off many ink features, but that is not for everybody. I can also enjoy a drier fine nib, especially on some paper. Great we have many choices.
I just ordered one of these and got a deal for $3 after shipping haha. Got the deal for the Jinhao 82 for $7.
Unfortunately my first real fountain pen purchase, a TWSBI Eco, just cracked after one month. I honestly felt like the Eco felt much cheaper than a $35 pen from the second I held it. These inexpensive Jinhao, Asvine, Majohn, etc. pens are worth trying, in my opinion.
My ECO is 4+ years old & OK. My 580 cracked after a few months, TWSBI sent me replacement parts. I agree recent Chinese pens are excellent!
Thank you!
You're welcome! I aim to please.
Does the new #8 nib assembly fit into the 159 model?
No, 159 is a No. 6 nib.
Three turns to uncap... Plus, Medium is most probably not 0,07 mm but 0,7 😀. Unless Chinese nibs have undergone a serious change...
My error. An extra 0.
