- So today I decided to video record how I dry fire practice in my garage with my P365XL using a laser training cartridge and the Mantis Laser Academy training app. I downloaded and printed all the free Mantis Smart Target. I set them all up on a board and staged them 7 actual yards away. In the video I mis-stated the scaled simulated distance. It not 2x. I looked it up and found a table showing the actual vs scaled values depending on the target. Given the 7 actual yards I was standing at, The Silhouette Headshot simulates 10 yards, the FBI Qualifier and BT5S simulate 16 yards, the IDPA/IPSC and B27 simulates 22 yards and the Unnamed Bullseye simulates 25 yards. The Dot Torture (circle 1-10) is an actual 7 yards. I have another table that indicates what actual distance I need to be to simulate desire distance, so if I want to try the now famous Ely drill of 10 shots in 10 seconds at 40 yards, I place the IDPA or IPCS target 12 actual yards away and I select a par drill. This Mantis Laser Academy dry fire training app is really good and lots of fun. The paid version has 21 different drills and several courses. I bought the cheapest 9mm laser training cartridge on Amazon. This small investment saves lots of money and pays for itself. I highly recommended.
Just got mine Mantis it’s definitely entertaining
Good shooting at 7 yards. When you purchase the kit, the instructions tell you to shoot those targets at 3 yards.
thanks. yeah i think you are right about 3 yd setup. but i like how I do it. this does effectively make a shooter more accurate with live fire. thanks!
Yoooo what's the device you put on the gun for the racking .. I need one
Good video. Are you using some type of trigger reset mag? It sounds like you are in the video. Thanks.
thanks. no actually I have to rack the slide each time. it forces me to break and regain my sight picture.
Link to the cartridge, that's why I clicked your video, please, thank you.
I recommend this one: DEFENTAC 9mm/ .380 / .45 ACP Laser Training Cartridge for Dry Fire Training, with 2 Back Caps, Laser Target w/Scoring Counter, a.co/d/iyaDDDN
