9:00 the guy hammering the double joists while sitting on a pair of joist that don't appear to be nailed in and slowly slipping out with every hammer blow.. that is totally silly and hugely risky.
do you not need a wall plate on the block side with the red bricks at the top? I don't know anything about building so not trying to criticise, just asking...
I've always thought that wood is a non-homogeneous material and because of that mounting points should be staggered rather than be located in one horizontal line.
Of course you can use ring shank nails. This is what us recommended by the manufacture of the hoist hangers. Here is a link www.strongtie.co.uk/en-UK/products/connector-nail-stainless-cna-s
It is easy to be an arm chair critic but should you not at least draw the hanger centre line top to bottom with a square or spirit level, some look a tad squint but it can be tricky to tell as the camera lens distorts things a bit.
I was searching for a video that would show clear details of a wall plate being installed. many thanks for this, ill start mine soon, following your guide.
Hi they are only for flat I think. I’m not sure what you mean by sloping flat. All flat roofs do have a slight slope but the bottom of the joists which sits in the bracket should be flat. You add the slope on top of the rafter.
Needs to be twist nails in the hangers, you can buy/hire a nailgun that fires these. If you fit a timber wall plate on top of the masonry with wall straps it will spread the load and stop the joists rotting or getting stressed at the contact point.
The nails are designed for the joist hangers www.metrofixings.co.uk/category/cna-ring-shank-nails/5154 Couldn’t put a wall plate on inner leaf as I was building a parapet wall and do not want to lay block on top on the wood plate.
I really appreciate a skilled craftsman that takes time out to show us mere mortals how a job is done.

Nothings coming out dude. Welcome to the real working mans world 💪🏾 lol

No you don’t need one for this. The rafters will be bricked around as well.

looks rearly bob on that mate....glad you sussed it out👍
Twisted nails to fix them joist hangers 100%. Building inspector should not pass it with the nails you have used...

This chap can put his hand to anything.. Great work
Are you going to fill the steel bar in with bricks or is that a plasterboard job ?
Looking good though !
Yeah it will be be plaster-boarded over
Thank you for these videos You are a legend
Cracking job - I’ll be doing something like this soon. How did you attach the other end of the joists to the walls?
Thanks
They will have block work built around them
@@darrenthebuilder nice!
Exciting to see it taking shape!
Hey - having a similar job done. Should the wall plate have a DPC?
No, no dpc on wall plate
Thank you sir - massive relief as my own builder isn't using one!
Thanks for the detailed videos, could you please let me know what size of ring shank nails you recommend
Great set of video's....
Another great vid!
cracking on atb
Can those joist brackets be used for sloping flat roofs?

A ratchet with a deep socket would have saved your arm when you were bolting up the wall plate great work as usual
👍🏾
How did you get them holes in the timber bang on with the bolts fair play
Why you put the red bricks at the top of wall?!
What size holes did you drill in the timber pal?
Looking good.
Thanks
Looking good 👍
Good job what bolts did you use wall plate?
Enjoyed the wall plate installation video ,do you have one with the threaded rod installation? Thanks
What size timbers are used here and what is the distance between the rafters?
Speedbit on hammer
Great video very helpful - thanks
Where’s the timber wall plate
Its a parapet wall, so you wouldn't put a timber wall plate.
@@darrenthebuilder should have a 4x2 wall plate strapped down the wall then truss clips installed on flat roof
This is how it's done nice work 👍
What size is the timber bolted onto the wall an wa size is the joists
I think everything was 200mm x 50mm (8 x 2)
Nice work sir ☝️ did you put any vapour barrier or flashing behind your plate ?
Are you working on two jobs same day can't make it out showing two video on same day
Some days but some footage (mainly the garden house) has been filmed ahead and a lot of weekends too
Very nice job man! What size is the bolts mate?
Nooice!

Supposed to use twist nails
@ryan2387 these ring shank nails are designs and specified by the hanger manufacturer.

You’ll have to invest in a framing nailer mate save all that hard work with the hammer 🔨
