And he's right with that! As i was on a school internship at a company that build metal structures like stairs, platforms, metal gates and much more, one day i and a coworker just grabbed the welders because there was nothing else to do on that day (we had been cleaning EVERYTHING before and couldnt continue with work because we were waiting for a delivery) so instead of just sitting around we just took some parts of the scrap box and started to weld them together randomly like art. I never welded before, only watched others weld stuff, but i did it like i really learned it. Even the boss said that my welded parts look almost like he made it himself.
But once you know something, going back and learning it properly is important and helps you learn even more. Learning the proper way has to come eventually, we should all want to do the best we can
The problem with classes is that it institutionalizes learning. Creatures don't learn by institutions. We learn by doing. However, there's no replacement for meeting someone with a lifetime of experience who could save you years by lending their wisdom. That's how we as people have always done it. Learn by doing but find a master if you can. Plenty of old-timer welders out there. In my high school days one of them came by the auto shop looking for any of us interested in being the next generation. That graybeard had the look of a wizard and probably forgot more about welding than a decent mechanic knows.

Andrew, your videos are TOPS in content, I really love your craftsmanship in all your projects that you do! I also enjoy watching Levi and now the lil guy pup, thank so much for posting another great video, I watch them as soon as you put them out.
Not complaining just heads up. You really shouldn't weld down hill with a stick. All the impurities run down and get in the way of making a strong weld. Thanks for all the great videos!

Man, I swear that the welder was going to go right through those blocks when you were lifting it, Andrew, that was a close call! Thanks for continuing to bring us content and great job with reinforcing the grapple bucket!

I figured the weather or maybe some jobs had Andrew too busy to post some video's. Then I found he had strung a bunch of the castle build videos together. I immediately put in a link to that. Of course after watching the amazing steel fabrication and concrete work several time already I try and jump past some of it. I do have to agree that Andrew needs a break sometimes and we should just sit back and enjoy some old videos to something new comes along. Then just an hour ago there was the Kabota tractor welding job and snowy cleanup of logs and stumps. Love it! Snow don't slow Andy down much. Can't help but think that grappling (whatever it's called) will give Andrew some ideas. Great to see the way he does things so straight forward and well thought out. Love his toys. Terry
Proper way to make gussets for high stress corners like this, is to round the ends, and stop the weld like a 1/4" from the ends of the gusset. Also leave a gap at the inside corner. Allows more even force distribution. Watch out for cracking in the corners and ends, on triangle plates like this. Probably be fine, but if it cracks eventually, that's why. Them sharp corners concentrate force into small hot spots.

I’m surprised with all his energy and skill he doesn’t have some sort of winch driven elevator lift on the outside of the castle yet. I wouldn’t put people or Levi on a lift that I built of course. But if Andrew made it, then maybe I’d ride a homemade lift.
Andrew, I was thinking maybe you could do a video this spring talking about your drone(s) since you seem to use yours so much. Things like the somewhat-new FAA regulations, how you chose your drone, learning to fly it (or showing how easy the ones like your DJI are to fly), and the many things for which you use yours might be some good topics to cover. Thanks so much you really help me out :D
@Houston Korbin No problem =)
I just finished reinforcing my Allis Chalmers 5020 that is the same size as your tractor. I use it mostly for snow removal and road grading/mowing on my build site. Be Blessed
Great video super welding job! That Cody stole the show. So damn cute! Levi is the best too.
who else thinks "grapple bucket" would make a great name for a folk metal band?
or a cute nickname for the wife
Levi is thinking "hey Boss, when is this little guy going home? He is? Shit!' Thanks for the video Andrew.
Just got home from work and bam! A new vid, I'm so happy!!!
I love the spray paint while it's still glowing red trick. 👍
See a few LVL's up there... can't wait for that movie.
Hello ! reviewed all your videos. You did well. I'm from Russia or rather from Siberia!
Guess you have some cold weather now?
@@MiniMachines1 no -20 centigrade ))
@@agent33120 that's not more than here in norther Norway, but I guess - 20 is mild weather for you. Always heard Siberia is so cold ❄️
@@MiniMachines1 Yes, -20 is good weather for my region, I live in the south of Siberia, enter the name Altai in Google, and in the north it is colder there and the temperature is up to -55))
Back in the day, on American TV, they would tell us that in Russia, if you disobeyed the Communist rulers, then they would send you to Siberia as punishment.
Andrew is back, it felt like a million years, but its only been 5 days. I know I speak for many when I say "Can barely wait for more castle vids."
Artemus Rodricq ain’t that right. Can’t wait to see what he’ll do next
Absolutely I swear I go through withdrawals with Andrews videos regularly.
Great Job !!! You fix things for other people ,how you would want it fixed. That is rare.
glad to see you back Andrew
Somebody's not a fan of overhead... who is LOL
Those Lincoln tombstones are indestructible. I might actually use on for my tombstone
Seems like a 100% duty cycle and tough as nails. Got mine 40 years ago, used, and it's still going strong. The cables are starting to crack though. I'll have to replace them someday.
Lincoln dc welder 6011 rods
Good way to burn something in, but lots of spatter.
@@michaelday7890 yep 6010 or 6011 gap it, root it and give it a 7018 cap
Nice job on welding and reinforcing with the gussets. That surprise me how fast that winch worked pulling those logs.
My God !!! You never stop working !!! Always doing something.
Anxiously awaiting the Cody Intro video :)
(no rush though, I know videos of the quality you strive for take time!)
I’m surprised with all his energy and skill he doesn’t have some sort of winch driven elevator lift on the outside of the castle yet.
I wouldn’t put people or Levi on a lift that I built of course.
But if Andrew made it, then maybe I’d ride a homemade lift.
Lifts that are certified to haul people require a lot of permitting and safety review. Not that Andrew couldn't do it, but it's an expensive PITA.
Because he don't want it to fall apart in 100 years for no reason
Great tractor for the size. The skidded attachment on the back was real quick. Real nice!, 👍👍
I like how you still had the tag on your welding apron. No messing around, just get the job done!
Best channel on UA-cam!
That pupper is growing fast!
Tailss1 it’s like he doubled in size in 2 weeks.
@@AndrewCamarata Take lots of pics, 10 years from now you won't believe how small he was.
Tailss1 in
Andrew, thanks for the video. Appreciate it.
Cody is so cute, he made me laugh when he bit Levi's tail, and wanted to play, levi said leave me alone, I'm too old...lol 🤣🤣🤣
Looks like bedtime will be delayed by 20 mins and 23 seconds
Weld those gussets on it so it doesn’t break for no reason
Andrew, I was thinking maybe you could do a video this spring talking about your drone(s) since you seem to use yours so much. Things like the somewhat-new FAA regulations, how you chose your drone, learning to fly it (or showing how easy the ones like your DJI are to fly), and the many things for which you use yours might be some good topics to cover. Keep it up, you're my favorite channel and I always learn something new!
1:27 A good glimpse of the additional work on the roof addition. Looking forward to the next video for that project.
