WOW this is so powerful..... I was made to grow up quickly as a child due to unfortunate events, went into the military at 17, married my high school sweetheart and had a baby by 20. We are LUCKY to still be together now 36 years later but I aged sooo quickly. In my 40s I gave myself permission to "go back in time" a bit and be and do all the fun things, including a burlesque performer, with my hubby's support, but COVID changed everything. Now Im back to feeling older than I want... time to not act my age again methinks!! LOL
I’ve experienced the same ”act your age” in the complete opposite way but this song still hits just the same. I’m 19 currently (20 in a week) with a son and wonderful-beyond-compare fiancé. I have a 4bed apartment. My partner works from home. So will I soon🤞 We’re getting married in March. I didn’t mean to grow up so quickly. It’s just the way life fell and it is beautiful. I love my life so so much. I’m constantly told to make sure that I’m “acting my age” and to “not forget that I’m just 20.” Sometimes those words make me feel like a should hate my life and abandon it even though this is the happiest I’ve ever been. There’s no reasonable reason that I should have to fall into place.
