Btw just to clear out as me being a lifelong fan...Abba's main music genre was based on pop music and also had some folk oriented background.Within 10 years time('72/'82")they only had recorded 8 smth disco songs in their whole discography. And very good ones,i must confirm.HNY too guys.

I would say they were heavily influenced by "classical" music as well. Maybe Baroque foremost.
Musicians taking inspiration wherever they find it are interesting.

Some people pigeon holed ABBA as disco group when in fact they only made 1 disco album and the rest of their discography is europop/rock

To my experience It's mainly some older Gen's music listeners from the US who regard Abba as a disco even -one hit wonder group..Actually even the ''Voules vouz" '79 'disco"album had 4-5 disco songs out of the 10 included in it.

@@mikesmithson6805 Hi Mike!HN2024!Well newer Gens may know this in there , yes, but unfortunately i have still stumpled on some US '70s old rockers (also possibly supporters of the 'Disco sucks movement lol) reacting/commenting with prejudice and overlooking at them either hinting or literally stating "ah that 'disco pap groupie from Europe that had a moment in the sun here with 'Dancing Queen' and that's all" which is unfair and unreal.

@@mikesmithson6805 yes this is a fact i know, you got it right.Even 'Waterloo' went top Billboard top 10 that Eurovision meant nothing there not to mention their multiple US top 40 hits,so deff no one hit wonders .It's as you said "not like super duper popular" compared to almost the rest of the musicglobe .But i meant , you can't change some people's minds even if you got proofs when they don't approve of an artist due to their different taste and culture.

Thank you for the reaction! Not more than 10 % of the songs from ABBA can you clarify as disco. For me it is even strange to call ABBA a discoband. They are the most diversity band ever I think. Influences is from disco yes but also theatre, melancony, heartbreaking ballads, relative happenings from life, polka, folkmusic, reggae, rock, joddling, schlager, chanson, can-can, and studiodeveloping sounds, etc. Have a really happy new year! ❤

Hello again Thanks for your new reaction to ABBA songs
This is an ABBA song classic for all December/January dates A beautiful song with a soft melody at the beginning, a melancholic lyrics with the beautiful and very sweet interpretation of the blonde singer Agnetha, a brilliant chorus with the brunette Frida (especially the power of her second voice in the second and third stanza) and a catchy chorus with the melody that grows and falls in love All ingredients of ABBA
The lyrics are so emotional, contrast with an very catchy chorus It's no funny, it's melancolich, but have a message of hope
"Happy New Year" (1980) is a great song from the "Super Trouper" album (which includes the homonymous song and "The winner takes it all" among others)
It has a version in Spanish: "Felicidad" which was a hit here in my country Argentina
"Happy new year" have two ABBA official videos, these in English and another in Spanish, and an only TV perfomance in France 1980, and now a new ABBA official lyric video in the end of 2022
just yesterday (Yes!, you are reading wright)
"Happy New Year" was #3 in iTunes worlwide
and #1 in iTunes at Sweden
in last November 2021, ABBA include a Christmas song tittle "Little things" in their new album "Voyage", that also was released as a single with a special video with childrens
ABBA donated your royalties to UNICEF,
as ABBA did before in 1979 with "Chiquitita"
Best wishes to you with good music
    My best regards from
    Buenos Aires Argentina 🇦🇷
    South America
    Happy new year 2024
P.S.: as said my friend Alejandro from Chile
in next April will be the 50 anniversary of
ABBA wining Eurovisión with the iconic Waterloo
and could be an special homenage for all ABBA
it will be great that You react these live perfomance

This year is the 50th anniversary of ABBA's victory with 'Waterloo' at Eurovision'74 (European song contest), and it will be held in Stockholm, because the winner in 2023 was Sweden...
It would be wonderful to see them reunited there again, or at least to be the object of a well-deserved tribute. 🤞🍀🤞🍀🤞🍀
    Happy 2024, guys!

This is actually quite melancholy, this must have been at the end of their relationship. I was so obsessed with ABBA, but I hadn’t heard this somehow. Thank you gentlemen, Happy New Year to both of you and the momma and three kittens, they are so adorable ❤. I have a suggestion, while you pause maybe show some kitten footage, who doesn’t Love kittens. I question whether the internet would exist if it wasn’t for cats😂.

This song was a couple of years before ABBA took a little "break" (34 years really isn't all that long...) and was basically wishing a goodbye to the 1970's and a cautious hello to the 1980's

x Fun Fact: "The earliest recorded festivities in honor of a new year's arrival date back some 4,000 years to ancient Babylon." (History Channel)
