    There was actually a service bulletin released about the D611 zener diode on that particular board along with several other similar make tvs. The resolution is to just pull the diode and eliminate it. In alot of cases that's the only cause of a blown fuse and the tv fires up and works. Also when you test diode D610 on that board it will show up as shorted while it's in-circut. You actually have to pull that diode for testing.

      I know this post is old but I hope u see this! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS POST! We had a wind storm in y area recently which caused a power outage and my tv completely went out. I changed the fuse and it blew immediately. I tested everything as he did and D610 and D611 were bad (or so I thought) The repair kit that he suggested didn't include the D611 so I didn't order it and have been searching for weeks for replacements! Mind you, I haven't fixed any electronic ever in my life! I am so glad I came back to read the comments (I normally read comments before I can even finish a video)! I had already taken the 2 diodes out so I tested it as u said and what do u know....It was good! I just put it back in and put in a new fuse and BOOM! IT CAME ON!!! Thanks again for this post!

    Were the diodes really shorted, or did the shorted transistor and the transformer winding (which will often look like a short) just make it read that way in the circuit? Shorted diodes were very rare when I did component level troubleshooting back in the 1980s.

    That looks like the BA17F1F0102 supply. If so check zener diode D611 for a short. If thats the case then pull the diode and don't replace it, the manufacturer did away with it. After pulling the diode check Q600 and 601 along with other surrounding diodes for shorts. Do this and try testing the set again

    I think diodes are supposed to have the beep when you put negative leads to the leg with the silver stripe and positive to the other, hence they have continuity in the correct polarity and not in reverse. Am I wrong? I have the same TV with the same problem, the same board with a few components placed differently, like mine don't have D611/611A and board # is BA17F1F01 02 4, all other numbers are the same.mine has one of the SMD diodes on the other side shorted/ bad. D640 I think is the ID

    I have a 2013 50" Toshiba that blows 4A ceramic fuse. TV works fine, turn it off and wont turn back on, replace 4A cer fuse and as long as its not turned off? it works fine
    I do notice when i plug it in to wall outlet i hear a faint sparking sound right at the plug itself, like its arcing,.
    Any idea what could be causing this apparent short circuit?

    The supply on this set is small enough that you can use a 100-150 watt light bulb in place of the fuse for the initial check. Normally the bulb would partially come up for a second then settle down to a dim glow, or might not be visible at all. If the bulb comes on at full brightness then you have a short. It will save you from wasting fuses, and further potential damage to the set.

    • @fitulus
      @fitulus 4 роки тому

      That way you can damage other components. A fuse must be blown in order to protect the board components.

      Are you mad or stpuid, do you research before asking such a question.

    • @blcksmth
      @blcksmth 9 років тому +2

      1.5A would blow SOONER. It's possible it may work in place of the 4A fuse. NEVER EVER GO TO A HIGHER VALUE. It is for circuit protection. A higher value will allow more current, but that could damage parts and could easily cause a fire. It is there for your protection. In the old days of screw-in fuses, people would stick a penny in the fuse because it ket blowing. That would protect NOTHING because a penny is so thick it would never be able to burn through.

    Misleading title. You don't really find out why the fuse was blown or what caused that issue. Replacing the old parts with identical ones and hoping for a different result than a blown fuse and a broken transistor regulator along with some diodes... yeah, you'll be fixing that in a few years all over again. But I guess that was to be expected when I saw you didn't even remove the AC power cable before opening the thing up and sticking your head in there.

    You say inverter board but when going from 120 AC to 12 DC is would be a converter board. 12 DC to 120 AC is inverter. Just sayin.
