As someone who works at a casino and deals poker, being offed by an old lady is a legitimate fear i have lol. However this would not work in that setting. Way too many rules one has to follow for the shuffle and the dealer doesn’t actually get a hand. I just deal the cards.

I'm really late to the party. But Chris your videos have really had an impact on me. You're why I started magic. Why I started collecting cards. I as many decks of your playing cards as I could afford, even though it was only two, because I wanted to support you. This video is a great example of why I love your channel. You are still learning things, you interact with the community as the comment section shows, and you actually care about putting out quality content. I know you're not going to read this, but just saying it makes me happy.
    Thank you Chris Ramsay.

Yo, Chris. Not sure if you remember me from one of your first streams, but thank you for making your puzzle vids. I got the Quartet puzzle from hanayama almost a year ago, and I gave up cause I didn't realize it was a level 6/6.... lol. But since you made those videos, I've decided to start back up on it, and I did. Yesterday on the 12th of June, I bought another one of the cast-iron puzzles named "Padlock," which is level 5/6, and I solved it well within 4 hours. And now I can solve it within minutes. So, thank you for making those puzzle vids, cause if you didn't make them, I wouldn't have gone back to them. You're inspirational, dude!! Keep it up! And 1M subs! Let's keep the RamFam growing!

    Honestly you could just do
    1. Injog the top card while taking the bottom half of the deck
    2. Run the number of player minus one
    3. Outjog the next card, shuffle off
    4. Take the cards from below the outjog while maintaining a break from the injog
    5. Throw everything from above the break
    6. Run the number of player
    7. Injog the next card, shuffle off
    6. Cut the card from below the injog
    8. Deal
Great video btw Chris. I really enjoy it.

    You could just do 3 players times 2 -2 is 4, so is 3+1 4 times 2 - 2 is 6 so is 4+2, so just use 3+1= 4 4+2=6 5+3=8 6+4=10 7+5=12 8+6=14 9+7=16
    I hope you can see the pattern. player (p) times (*) 2 -2 = p+(p-2= a.k.a u add 9 to 9-2 which is 7 so 9 + 7. goes on forever, you could be playing a poker game with 137 ppl, just 137 + 135 = 272
I still hope you see the pattern.
Thanks for the video Chris, and thanks to whoever reads this (if you understood, good. I like making things clear, and probably too clear, if I sound condescending (damn me why tf am I doing this) I don't mean it. good morning! (or) good night! (or) good evening! whatever bye)

Very cool for a first pass.
A few tips on stock shuffles:
Practice over hand shuffling without the stock. simply in-jogs and out-jogs until the cards lye clean when shuffled allowing the in jogs and out-jogs to be much finer.
Rhythm, Erdnase makes this a very important point. Your speed is no concern but your rhythm should be. Prioritise the consistency of rhythm without the desire to increase speed. Speed does not make the stocking any better when learning.
when you "Under-cut to out-jog, forming break at in-jog" push the out-jog and in-jog up rather than in. They will both fall in and allow a cleaner break without pushing them into the deck which can often help lose the positioning required. In addition use the centre of the thumb and second finger to push the cards upwards leaving the fleshy part of the fingers to hold the break.
Keep it up man. Expert has some fantastic work and brilliant mathematical principles. Also, the introduction is gold.
    B.

Congrats on 1M! I am a magician, puzzler, and hold 'em player. The book is somewhat outdated; due to the jaded history of mechanic's grip overhand shuffling is either frowned upon or disallowed. After poker shuffling moved to riffle / cut with cards always facing down toward table, new moves had to be invented. See "poker cheating real hustle" for a modern demonstration. You also skipped over a key step - getting the Kings to the top of deck. There are various "pick up and stack" moves to facilitate this. Great channel, keep it coming!

An important point to realize in the Erdnase stock shuffles is that the final "run the number of players" can be interpreted as running one card for each position. For example, if instead of running the number of players "5," you had run only one, the player to the dealer's left would receive the winning hand. Two cards would be position two etc. This makes it possible to set the deck to deliver a win on any position and hand the deck to someone else to deal, still winding up with the winning hand yourself.

    • @alextrendler
      @alextrendler 5 років тому +1

Similarly, in the 5 card stock shuffle, the final note is to run three times the number of players. I think of it as "run twice the number of players and then add cards equal to the position receiving the winning hand."

I'm so glad you did this video. You always see people trying to give tips on mastering Erdnase or trying to display their skill while teaching a small sleight, but I think demonstration videos like this are much more interesting. Good job on the 1mil homie.
