Hi, geometry dash player here. I would like to add another game that kinda correlates with GD, Mario Kart. I’ve been playing GD for about 5 years now and about a year ago (January 2022), I started playing MK8DX competitively along with other MK games such as; MK7, Wii, etc. But this is also the case for Technical, a very well known GD player, but also in the MK8DX community for his Rainbow Road TTWR. But, the crazy thing about SuperFX is that he almost jumped stereo madness (first level in the game/easiest) to a Top 150 extreme demon level (artificial ascent)! He only got 92 but still it was a great achievement/jump back then, and still today. He’s also got a few WR’s and couple years ago in MK8 (Wii U ver.) and in March a WR in MK8DX for a short time. This is just my opinion, but just fyi, there are more players like this whom play GD and MK competitively so just know that it isn’t just me, technical, and SuperFX 👍.

They're all audiovisual skill games with no skill cap. There's techniques to each game, sizeable communities, and they're all based on very simple concepts.
probably one of the biggest reasons is they all involve improving by repeating the same tasks. osu is where you improve skills such as aim, speed, stamina, reading, etc. GD (not too sure about this one because i don’t play but) it involves improving just knowing what each object does, tapping faster, tapping on time, and memorization. Tetris is learning things like t-spin setups, openers, improving speed, and learning kicks.

For me I thought the games were similar in the sense that they both are brutally difficult and have a near infinite skill ceiling. I now see a lot of differences between the two games, but I see why they connect in my head
Because they're not ridiculously complex while still being skill focused games. I love games where I can see a clear improvement in my skill from the last time I played.

As a GD player, I mainly play GD, then I play Osu and ADOFAI as my main rhythm games, then I used to play JSaB and Piano tiles on my phone when I was little, idk man, I've always loved rhythm games since I was a kid and I still do. One game i want to play is Guitar Hero but is hard to play on kbm, thats why i don't play it that much, i'd rather get a guitar controller.
I've gotten into all three of the games once (tetrio the least), osu and tetrio connect because you're meant to get into the flow state and not even think of what you're playing. I dont know about gd tho, maybe the games are connected because they're semi multiplayer games and what I mean by that is that the game is mainly played online and the community interacts a lot but you don't play in lobbies as much as you do singleplayer. But the main reason I think they're connected is because they all have what I call "Mental RNG" so you know how in games like Minecraft (if you speedrun) there's literal RNG as in RNG that you cannot change at all without cheating, for example seeds and piglin drops, but Mental RNG is a thing where there's no literal RNG but you still have to get lucky to get a pb, get a new hardest, or get a top play, I'm not really sure about how much tetrio has this mental RNG cause I haven't played it that much but I assume that there's atleast a little bit. For example everyone that has played GD for a while knows that if you have practiced a level a lot to the point where everything is consistent for you it's just that mental RNG holding you back from beating it fully. If someone disagrees with something in this then leave a reply and if you didn't disagree with anything then like the comment cause I spent like 10 minutes writing this🗿 very cul video btw
all of them uses a whole lot of muscle memory. A lot of people that play these games also play other rhythm games and do cubing which both require muscle memory.
I used to play Osu, still have it downloaded, and I play Geometry Dash all the time, never played the third game though. while I can't say anything about Tetrio, I guess one thing that connects GD and Osu is that both games involve click based gameplay, so perhaps that has something to do with it (thought I'm only talking about mania, I think that's the one, can't remember)
i assumed classic would make more sense, since the fall with constant speed and in modern you often press for them to fall (and also singleplayer instead of multiplayer). but i guess it's more boring to play so people don't play it
Played both gd and osu! (standard), after playing osu for a while i REALLY REALLY Love the music and improving my music taste from there, i wish that GD has more level with osu! song (Especially with The Deceit, HONESTY, etc)
Sunix doesn't play gd as often anymore because of drama with him beating bloodlust (the top 1 demon at the time) with fps bypass because it wasn't allowed at the time.
I meeean I've played all three at least at some point in my life. osu on and off between 2014 and 2019 (was never good at it though lol) gd started in 2014 and still playing it (just beat my third extreme which is... cool) got into nes tetris in 2018 (660k pal and 868k ntsc... more into organizing events than competing nowadays) and occationally play tetrio for fun on the side so... yeah its so weird, i mainly play gd, i've dipped my feet a little bit into osu because of friends, and i play tetrio every so often as well.
Maybe their AI is a little to similar
Me like music, me play music games
me happy
Tetrio player here recently getting really into GD
wait this actually makes sense
i feel like they all have the same skill set, where its the same thing over and over but still somehow get's more difficult
One reason I would say is they are all indie games and all fun but still challenging.
I think they all relate because they all use some songs in common and the communities are a bit related together if you know what I mean...
I dont know about gd tho,
maybe the games are connected because they're semi multiplayer games and what I mean by that is that the game is mainly played online and the community interacts a
lot but you don't play in lobbies as much as you do singleplayer.
If someone disagrees with something in this then leave a reply and if you didn't disagree with anything then like the comment cause I spent like 10 minutes writing this🗿
very cul video btw
agreed
also FORGOTTEN REFERENCE IN THE BG PICTURES,???????
reaction time is for all 3
all games prob just require massive dedication and reaction speed
this is unironically true
all of them uses a whole lot of muscle memory. A lot of people that play these games also play other rhythm games and do cubing which both require muscle memory.
I play gd and occasionally mania. however, I cannot download the game so I have to play on a Roblox exact remake
GD + ADOFAI + OSU + BEAT SABER = steam
I used to play Osu, still have it downloaded, and I play Geometry Dash all the time, never played the third game though.
while I can't say anything about Tetrio, I guess one thing that connects GD and Osu is that both games involve click based gameplay, so perhaps that has something to do with it (thought I'm only talking about mania, I think that's the one, can't remember)
forgetting trackmania, that also somehow mixis in sometimes
i assumed classic would make more sense, since the fall with constant speed and in modern you often press for them to fall (and also singleplayer instead of multiplayer). but i guess it's more boring to play so people don't play it
would it be wrong to throw celeste in there too? i feel like there's plenty of crossover with it and these three
As someone who plays gd and not the other 2 games, I do not know
You forgot to mention how sunix was unmatched in geonetry dash for multiple years being one of the goats of geometry dash
Do some research on npesta, he’s a pro in gd and osu mania and was in a pewdiepie video
i lika da flashy color make my silly head make yummy chemicals
me who plays all of them consistently:
I think ADOFAI also falls under this umbrella
I think the link between OSU and GD is stronger because they've been connected in some form since 2015
Played both gd and osu! (standard), after playing osu for a while i REALLY REALLY Love the music and improving my music taste from there, i wish that GD has more level with osu! song (Especially with The Deceit, HONESTY, etc)
We have a technique called NONG song replace so it's already possible
Sunix doesn't play gd as often anymore because of drama with him beating bloodlust (the top 1 demon at the time) with fps bypass because it wasn't allowed at the time.
Mrekk also played GD, it's in is older videos. I also have played all 3
Seems like most of them are Osu and Tetrio and occasionally GD is added in
idk man lets find out
Probally rythm game in nature and sometimes OSU 'song' introduced by someone to Geometry Dash so GD players mostly know OSU
i play tetrio and gd, just beat bloodbath btw
2 words: music, click
I've played only gd but I'd have to say I wouldn't really be into any other rythm games
Same, GD just feels unique
I meeean I've played all three at least at some point in my life.
osu on and off between 2014 and 2019 (was never good at it though lol)
gd started in 2014 and still playing it (just beat my third extreme which is... cool)
got into nes tetris in 2018 (660k pal and 868k ntsc... more into organizing events than competing nowadays) and occationally play tetrio for fun on the side
so... I guess there is something to this
They do I guess, I play all.
And the fact that aetrna used to play a roblox obstacle course game lol
Omg I used to play so many difficulty charts because I just absolutely like difficulty. Now I am beating insane demons in geometry dash
It’s because they all are rhythm games.
DUDE SUNIX OH MY GOSH
Nah I remember SpaceUK tried to give osu a shot at one point but gave up and came back to geometry dash
yea, i started out with geometry dash, moved to osu and played quite a lot of tetrio
i started with gd, then downloaded osu mania, then became a beginner at tetrio but i only play osu mania now
music, gameplay that consists of clkcng pretty fast and music, and they are hard, plus I feel like if you play one, then you're good at the other
pretty sure ive seen mrekk tweet some stuff about gd aswell
also if you dont know mrekk also play gd and his hardest is windy landscape
