Great review. Glad you mentioned the wonderful magnetic power cord which can't brake. Awesome design decision Microsoft! Other reviewers have complained because they don't provide a Type C charger but that's not what I want for sure. I've got the surface laptop gen 1 ($1100). The 2k 3:2 display is great and since I primarily use this laptop for entertainment it's awesome that this laptop is very quiet. The gen 3 still only has a 45wh battery which provides good but not great battery life. If Microsoft would put in a bigger battery (60wh), then I would upgrade immediately. I don't need better ports, better sound, faster processor, bigger hard drive, etc. I have many other high powered desktop machines with 40 inch 4k monitors for work. No way I want to do much work on a puny laptop. Maybe if I was sick, I might want to work in bed but I almost never get sick so not much value in that.

I'm not really sure what it is about the alcantara that microsoft uses on the surface laptop, but it seems to vary alot between devices. For example, i've seen many pictures of the alcantara getting really dirty, but in a computer store that I have nearby, they have a platinum surface laptop 2 that's been out for a year, and it's alcantara looks almost spotless.
I think Microsoft laptop design has come a long way. Surprisingly Apple seems to have fallen behind in their design. I think the newer MacBooks are ugly with the speakers on the side and a paper-thin keyboard.
Honestly, for longevity if that matters to you 8gb of RAM is not good even for a light workload with Windows. I checked one out at Best Buy and really just opened up a few programs and it did run pretty well but it was nearly maxing out RAM usage. Kind of wish they would have had the i5 with 16gb or ram or make the ram interchangeable but that doesn't look to be the case. The SSD storage is easy to replace though so going with a lower model and buying a larger SSD down the road is a good idea if you need it. Honestly though, with how you can buy a 4 TB external HD and store things on the cloud extra internal storage really isn't necessary. Even my desktop with tons of space really only needs it for video games, and this laptop is not for gaming.
I'm debating getting the 15" business edition for that intel CPU, I can get the i7 16GB RAM 256GB SSD variant for £1,650 instead of the £1,770 roughly that MS are selling it for. Is that variant worth it for that price?

The only thing keeping me from buying this laptop is the reflective screen. And I guess it's not going away, because you can't have a touch screen if it's not reflective.
Is this video directed towards people with a thorough understanding of all the various components of a computer such as a 10 gen isolate processor and srgb color accuracy, and their features and advantages? If not would you please explain the features, advantages, and benefits? As an alternative, could you possibly make another video directed towards people who are not as sophisticated in computer components?
It was all explained in the video already, I think that if you needed further explication this product might not be the one for you... he noted that the CPU of those machines is Ice Lake and not Cannon Lake (the two 10th gen Intel one) which is very good since Ice Lake is flat better performance per core and much futureproof with its integrated graphics, the screen thing is just a mouthful thing for content creators I think that no real user should bother besides contrast ration and brightness which was stated as a little bit low to be very good.
Lack of thunderbolt doesn’t mean you can’t send 4k60 signal over usbc😂 come on guys. Display port and PCIE lanes are separate in a thunderbolt port. As far as I know they put display port lanes and not the 40gbps PCIE lanes. Look at the old XPS with half thunderbolt three speeds but still had 4 DisplayPort lanes
@@jayblue873 Well I did say laptop😊. yea. The razor is a 13" thin and light (ULTRABOOK) laptop (no 2 in 1) with the comet lake processors, with an option of a GTX 1650, this is a first for a machine of this small size. I did mention this was a first for the same processor (comet lake with a dedicated GTX) But you are correct if you add 2 in 1 to that and older cpu generations and nvdia gtx cards. Yes, the Surfacebook is a tablet/laptop and has had the dedicated GPU option for years, but it definitely is not a thin and light ultrabook laptop. in 13.5 and 15" form, I was talking traditional laptop with a modern 4GB dedicated graphics, as others have has the mx150/250, usually 2Gb version for a while. But it is a great 2 and 1 laptop, it is a shame Micrososft takes so long to update it, and the surface desktop, they are almost always 2 or three years behind when it comes to the latest cpu and gpu upgrades in relationship to the competition. Still great products though.
It does but it's not what you think, after popping out open, there is a ssd but it's a much smaller, harder to find form factor. You could say it close to being proprietary. It is technically replaceable in the sense that it's not soldered but then finding a replacement is no easy task
Download the intel graphic command center app from Microsoft store and under system and then under power slide power efficiency all the way to the left. It solved this issue. It has been recommended by MS help representative
Even though Ice Lake’s 10nm CPU and 14nm PCH companion chip (yes, it’s not all 10nm) mean that manufacturers no longer need to buy and find space to integrate a Thunderbolt 3 controller or a full Wi-Fi module onto their laptop or desktop motherboards, there are still additional components they’ll need to source from Intel to make it work.In the case of Thunderbolt 3, they’ll need to buy and integrate retimers chips from Intel, and Thunderbolt 3 accessory makers will still need to buy the regular controllers for those; in the case of Wi-Fi 6, there’s a new, smaller companion radio module that manufacturers can buy (like the 802.11ac CNVi companions for 9th Gen Core) but they still need a separate module to make it work:
yes but it's up to manufactuers to enable it and add ports. Microsoft being cheap, and to protect the sales of the surfacebook above it, chose not to, this also gives them the ability to add it later in a year or two and say look at this major upgrade. the chip allows for 4 tb3 ports and 32 gb of ram if the manufactuer so chooses.
My preference but alcantara feels more premium to me than aluminum, after using many laptops that has aluminum then using surface laptop 1 I would say that the alcantara feels far more premium, just dont get the alcantara dirty.
Mostly the fault of my friend's porsche to why I regard alcantara as premium. So no alcantara not premium therefore shit, but alas I'm not rich so I really cant afford buying a new laptop every year or 2 or more idk. I mostly wait for my relatives to give me their secondhand windows laptop.

Should I get the 8bg ram or the 16gb ?
AJAliriza 16 GB if u are a graphic designer or video editor. For basic web browsing and schoolwork, go for 8.
reaper.effects is 8gb ram good for photography??
Which laptop should i buy xps 13 2 in 1 or surface laptop 3 ???
Please reply
We have a video coming on this in 1 more day!
Max Tech could you please compare keyboards of those two? I’m developer and type a lot so keyboard is very important.
@@yatsuk I just upgraded to the surface laptop 3 from a dell xps 13, i prefer the surface laptop keyboard. I'd give it a 9/10 where I would rate the Dell a 7/10.
@@darthchar265 which processor version u bought?
@@PriyankChandgadhiya I got the Intel core i7 with 16 gb of ram and a 256gb ssd.
Dell XPS 13.. best in-class
I am gonna buy this thing, it's way better than the overpriced 13 inch macbook pro.
Wow. The Macbook Pro shines in so much Exterior Design and better Hardware, OS and Productivity and Optimization. This Windows Laptop has only the Performance for a Cheaper Price, thus less Resale Value
Screen crack issues?
The only thing keeping me from buying this laptop is the reflective screen. And I guess it's not going away, because you can't have a touch screen if it's not reflective.
Look at iPad pro. Barely reflects
The xps 2 in 1 is much les reflective and a touch screen
Get a Matt finish screen protector!
does this laptop have a 360 degree hinge? like can i flip it over and draw on it?
no
Only reason I bought the 2019 Macbook pro over this is cause resale value in 3 years will be way higher 😭
Do you want to resell such an expensive piece of tech after 3 years? 😕
@@Laura98423 yes? I'd rather resell for 80% of its price than keep it and not get any value back.. I only Need it for 3 years anyway
Can I charge this Laptop with USB-C?
Ye
Dude, this guys has horible taste in keys. The Pixelbook has good keys. They feel a lot like the Surface, but the Pixelbook Go has horible keys.
I know a keyboard enthusiast when I see one
Everyone saying the keyboard is the best. Period. Maybe it can be a little subjective
@@user-zr4wh3lh5v lenovo thinkpad have arguably the best
@@hedrickoYO thanks for the information. I have not looked at that one
It will do display out of USB C.
$1300? what is this? American dollars? A colony for Americans? OOOoooh * swipes at laptop keys
Lack of thunderbolt doesn’t mean you can’t send 4k60 signal over usbc😂 come on guys. Display port and PCIE lanes are separate in a thunderbolt port. As far as I know they put display port lanes and not the 40gbps PCIE lanes. Look at the old XPS with half thunderbolt three speeds but still had 4 DisplayPort lanes
you can still hook up the laptop to a couple of monitors with USB-C Alone.
Where can I get that wallpaper?
Just upgraded from a very old Dell Inspiron so this is great for me lol
I really like this laptop but when you see it next to that macbook you can tell this laptop is extremely reflective
Can you review the razor stealth with the same processor and with the dedicated nvdia GTX graphic card, a first for 13" laptops?
Thanks.
@@jayblue873
Well I did say laptop😊.
yea.
The razor is a 13" thin and light (ULTRABOOK) laptop (no 2 in 1) with the comet lake processors, with an option of a GTX 1650, this is a first for a machine of this small size.
I did mention this was a first for the same processor (comet lake with a dedicated GTX)
But you are correct if you add 2 in 1 to that and older cpu generations and nvdia gtx cards.
Doesn't the Surface 3 line come with user replaceable ssd? I thought they did.
It does but it's not what you think, after popping out open, there is a ssd but it's a much smaller, harder to find form factor. You could say it close to being proprietary. It is technically replaceable in the sense that it's not soldered but then finding a replacement is no easy task
@@sidm4609 Still, in an age when frontline laptops come with everything soldered, it should be mentioned in a review.
@@Trusteft yes that I agree with
@@sidm4609 It's not that hard to find , you can find them on amazon
You should review lenovo yoga 9i..
Wait!! I wouldn't be able to connect HDMI cords? Geez.
The screen changes brightness/tint when open anybody else have this issue? Any repairs? For it
Download the intel graphic command center app from Microsoft store and under system and then under power slide power efficiency all the way to the left. It solved this issue. It has been recommended by MS help representative
where is battery
would it be good for making music?
Well he said that you get now black metal in almost anywhere, so I guess yeah
Background looks like if you take a photo of a trash bag with flash
I still prefer the Alcantara 😁 I can't get enough of it
I’m still confused, doesn’t all 10th gen Intel computers have integrated Thunderbolt 3?
Essentially the pci lanes go straight to the CPU VS coming from the chipset.
You still need the modules.
yes but it's up to manufactuers to enable it and add ports.
Microsoft being cheap, and to protect the sales of the surfacebook above it, chose not to, this also gives them the ability to add it later in a year or two and say look at this major upgrade.
the chip allows for 4 tb3 ports and 32 gb of ram if the manufactuer so chooses.
@@Tigerex966 yes. You still need to pay Intel for the TB certification. If almost no one uses it then why pay extra?
Wtf did intel do to the naming scheme? I was just about to understand it and then 10th gen is just like “10- *smashes keyboard* “
It actually makes more sense.i5-1035G7 Processor
i5 = Branded Performance level
10 = 10th gen
35 = Speed Rating
G7 = Integrating Graphics Speed Rating
Max Tech well at least someone explains what it means, thank you.
I wont buy it because it does not offer 4k Resolution, its a shame for this price!
Traditional keyboard you say? Where's the right Ctrl key?
4:07 @MaxTech USB-c it does not connect to any external screen (display outgoing for the device) what is it used for if not meant to charge or to connecting to larger screens... i dont understand >.
“Cleanest looking laptop ever”
Apple: *scoffs*
So the screen doesn't detach on this model?
Pixelbook go s keyboard was crap compared to the surface laptop
i love the review but that guy also looks good lol
Has backlight or not on keyboard
It does
