Great to see you finally in HK. One of my favourite places in the world. I’ve visited at least 25+ times. The transportation system is one of the best, if not the best in the world whether you take a bus, the MTR, taxi or Ding Ding. The latter a must to see HK from the front seat, upstairs on a tram. Also make sure you take the bus from Central to Stanley Market and again grab the front seat upstairs. One of the best rides in the world on twisty coastal roads. So many things to see and do and did I mention the food! Have a blast, I have never ever been disappointed in Hong Kong!

Glad to see you’re not yet doing trendy coffee shops like all the other UA-camrs. Also, when you first tried to cross the road to get to the hotel, I think there was a footbridge right next to you which filmed at least twice! Glad you’ve had a good first experience
Although MTR is convenient, the airport line is a premium service and is therefore considerably more expensive. Plus, you would often need to change trains. A more hassle free way to go from airport to city would be by airport bus, which takes you directly to many places, has English announcements, and is usually at least 50% cheaper than the MTR airport line. For example, for Dorsett Tsuen Wan where Ken was staying in, bus A32 takes you directly to a nearby bus terminus, 4 minutes walk from the hotel, and it costs only HK$19.8 (roughly US$2.5). For the Blue Girl Beer, although it's German it's among the most popular choices of locals. Hongkongers are used to drink beers of foreign brands, like Carlsburg, Heineken and Asahi.
Hi Ken, I came to Australia from HK more than 15 years ago. Really missed the HK style BBQ pork. The one you had for dinner was really authentic, made my mouth watery! Hope you have enjoyed your stay in HK.

Great to see this video! I used to live in HK years ago. Before the pandemic, I would stop over there every year on the way to Malaysia. I miss visiting the city, but unfortunately there are so few flights via HK now and what is available is ridiculously expensive.
So funny to watch your video as a local...most interesting part is when you were wondering how to cross the other side of the road to the hotel, you were standing right next to the bridge😂 I hope you enjoyed your time in Hk.
An experienced traveller like you will not face any/much problems in a new country. Thanks for sharing the smooth flight, the wonderful subway ride and your hotel room. Never know that corner hotel room is one of the best...away from the noises, good tip, Ken. Yeah, you will be hearing lots of Cantonese and eating lots of Cantonese food there. Wow, those char siew which come in lean and fatty parts, look very juicy indeed. That plate of choy sam ( veggies ) is yum yum too. Lots of oil and garlics are used, that's why you can see the veggies look shiny. Great that you have a yummilicious dinner. Another interesting video with amazing content. "Doh Jeh" Ken. Sometimes "Mm Goy" can also be used ( Both mean thanks ) Can't wait for your next Hong Kong adventures.
Great and welcome to HK. 13:37 Sorry to say that you should cross with this foot bridge you are looking back, the you can reach the Hotel in 10 mins. (20mins walk from here can reach my home 😂)
Welcome to Hong Kong ❤ I don’t even know now there’s a hotel in Tai Wo Hau until watching your video😂 So happy to hear that you know we speak Cantonese instead of Mandarin. In Cantonese, you can also say “唔該(Ng Goi)” which means “Thank you/Please” as well in a more casual way of speaking, but it’s more commonly used when services rendered
so excited to see you visiting Hong Kong! Your hotel room is actually quite spacious, I wonder if it's because it's for disabled guests🤔or maybe this hotel just have larger rooms. At 20:58 in the video, the shop with white sign and blue letters serves "cheung fun" which is one of the local delicacies you may want to try. if you do, remember to ask them to put sesame sauce and sweet sauce which they may do for you anyway 😋😋
HK. My favourite place 👍👍👍. Ken, you should get the Octopus Card which you can use not only in the subway but also in the buses and ferries. Good that you are picking up Canto words. Just be aware of the intonation. For example, 'cheers' is 'yum pui' with emphasis on the second word as the waiter said. Enjoy your stay in HK 😊
Hallo Ben, Thanks for sharing all video clips in Vietnam, enjoy your trip in HK, see you when you back to Vietnam holiday in the future again. Thank you again.
Nice video, Ken. I'm glad that the cafe people were relatively friendly to you 🙂. 30:37 Re Cantonese, if not done so already, you might want to ask someone to teach you the two different ways to say "Thanks" in Cantonese. I was recently back in HK; if you had been there at the same time, I would have taken you out for a meal and some exploring. 🙂
welcome to hk!! i’m a little late but in case you didn’t figure it out yet, you don’t have to keep buying the train tickets one by one, you press the station you want to go to, in your case you can just press Tai Wo Hau instead of leaving the train and buying a ticket again at Tsing Yi and Lai King, the prices change depending on the station you are in based on distance to compensate!
Stumbled across your video. As soon as you pointed out you needed to go to Tai Wo Hau station I guessed you would be staying at the Dorsett. I stayed there twice prior to Covid and prices were much cheaper than hotels in the city. Also you might have gathered by now that as soon as you exit Tai Wo Hai MTR station you should cross the footbridge to the other side then walk to the hotel. When I was watching your video I was shouting use the footbridge behind you 😂
Nice video showing your first experience in recent time of Hong Kong! When you’re reading the restaurant menu, I wonder if you’ve ever tried using the Google Translate camera function because I used it sometimes when I was traveling to Thailand, and it sort of help me 😊 Have fun there!
I'm so excited to see how you like East Asia! HK has one of the world's best public transit systems and also is one of the most expensive cities in the world; the price of your hotel is incredibly cheap! Fun fact that I just discovered, Blue Girl Beer was actually brewed in Bremen back in the 19th century! Very excited for your next HK videos :)

Greetings Ken, your journey is never boring🤭 here's another Cantonese word as a tip when you're leaving. "joy kin" means til we meet again & also means goodbye. Hope you'll be safe & healthy always. Looking forward to your next video ✌🏻
Ken, as you left the Tai Wo Hau station there was an elevated pedestrian crossing bridge directly behind you at 13 minutes and 8 seconds into the video.
Interesting facts: Until now, south Vietnam (particularly Saigon/HCM city) has more than 600 000 Cantonese-speakers (as Chinese Vietnamese). Then, HongKong is a Cantonese-dominant Chinese city (though English is also official there due to the British colonist history during 1840-1997).
Been to Hong Kong twice. Visited Lantau island, Victoria's Peak, Disneyland and so on. But nothing was more magical to me than the train ride to Shenzhen and Guangzhou. The train went past rural areas (village) in Guangzhou during sunset and the people there just stopped work to enjoy the sunset on hilltops which was breathtaking and unforgettable.

Wow what a healthy yet frustrating walk to the hotel.😅 But that inexpensive yet delicious meal made up for it. Blessings for fun & safe Hong Kong adventures.
Just stumbled across your channel, and I must say you are such a positive and nice tourist. A lot of Western tourists have no desire to learn the local language and some do not respect the local customs, in this case wearing the face masks but you are perfectly accepting and understanding of this, bravo!
Great that you are in Hong Kong. It is a city I have visited frequently for the past 10 years and love the food and transport system immensely. Transport by busses and MRT is cheap compared to the western world. Taxis are a little dearer but still affordable and convenient. Food is great and most convenient. I would recommend you try a few other places which offer cheap delicious food for the common Hong Kongers such as Cafe De Coral, Maxim and Fairwood. These are food chains but serving authentic local cuisine also sometimes with a bit of fusion of South East Asia and Japan in some dishes. The menu changes every now and then and they are located everywhere. Just google these food chains. Don't leave Hong Kong till you try the milk tea, a much localised version of the English tea, probably alike the tea-tarik in Malaysia with a twist. Do enjoy your stay there. I shall follow your every video on Hong Kong most attentively.
Welcome to Hong Kong and had great experience. ☺☺ You've chosen a good place to stay in Tai Wor Hou, the transportation is convenience to go everywhere in HK. Enjoy😎
Hello Ken, glad to see this video. Like yourself I was so excited to visit Hong Kong for the first time back in 1974. Of course it was quite different then as a Colony. It was also the time of Mao's Red Guards and in Hong Kong (but not elsewhere in SE Asia) you could buy a blue Chairman Mao-style suit in Hong Kong (made in China and sold in mainland China department stores in Hong Kong) and wear it when walking around outside. If you were to do that in SE Asia you risk being arrested by the police.
Places to eat 1. Porridge & steam rice rolls 2. Roast duck char siu rice 3. Wanton noodles 4. Dim sum buffet 3. Chinese Fine Dining restaurant. Places to visit 1. Shopping Mall 2. Giant Buddha (Bus) don't forget cold jacket very cold up there depends on season. Check weather. 1 to 2 weeks should be good to visit the entire HK. Macau if can don't go. The sea trip by speed boat can be a bit uncomfortable bouncing up and down. If want to visit 1 day trip enough. Nothing to see there unless you want to gamble. Expect to hire cab taking you around
Man great video! Dude $50 a night!!! I wish I could find a deal like that 😂 the cheapest I found this week is $150 a night because I'm a procrastinator and wait last minute 😭😭😭
Ah man that's a bummer! Maybe there is a holiday coming? I remember prices went up a lot during a holiday 😳 I also never book my hotels more than max 2 days in advance actually 😅
Why was it stressful? There're English signs nearly everywhere you see a sign. Ah I see, the area near your hotel is kinda like my experience in Osaka. Except there's hardly any English signs in Japan. HK is an international financialy centre, very different from Ho Chi Minh. Most locals are very nice :) Glad you had a good meal!
Well done, Ken, for trying to speak some Cantonese words, but like the Thai (and other Asian languages) it is vitally important to speak in the correct tone otherwise the locals will have no idea what you are trying to speak 🤣🤣 Enjoy Hong Kong ! 👍
Yes, for beginners, getting the right tone is the bugbear as the incorrect one can mean another thing altogether. Ken, bitte, be very careful, when ordering seafood eg.the crustacean ‘crabs’ as the wrong tone can arouse dirty stares from your neighbours dining in the same restaurant, as they will think “who is this pervy ordering female sexual organ at this time of the day?”😮
Another local delight is Hong Kong milk tea. A drink invented during the colonial days and is considered the quintessential drink of Hong Kong with a very unique recipe. Sipping it hot at breakfast in the chilly weather overlooking the harbour is a superb experience....
Hong Kong transport super convenient. I daughter stay there. Can go to Kennedy town or aberdeen. Lot of restaurants and nature life. Kennedy town 新兴点心very delicious。 this 2 area resident are so polite. Must try Hong kong smooth egg with char siew and milk tea. 😋 Walk from Kennedy town to 上环Sheung wan via the beach size is amazing
First time watching your video and somehow you were heading to the place where I grew up in Hong Kong! The weather in Hong Kong is very humid, and so take extra care and try to walk through as much A/C tunnel/shopping mall as possible!

Enjoy😎
Love from Saigon please visit dalat in Vietnam one day as the weather is cold and relaxing and numbers of food to enjoy
There was a overhead bridge right behind you to cross, or check underground passway
Hi Ken, was it only me, but when you were looking for a way to cross the road, there was a footbridge right behind you!
Yes, noticed that too when I was looking at the footage 😄
Wow! I'd been to Hongkong years back. Enjoy your stay Ken! Dont miss visiting Lantau island by cable car.
Very good choice Ken,I am looking forward to follow in Hongkong and Macau,Greetings from Phuket,Thailand. Till
gute Reise wünsche ich dir !! Schön Osterfest 🐣🐰
Danke gleichfalls
Hi Ken Welcome to Hongkong 🎉🎉🎉😊,Have a nice trip !
Thanks 😊
Hello Ken, glad to see this video. Like yourself I was so excited to visit Hong Kong for the first time back in 1974. Of course it was quite different then as a Colony. It was also the time of Mao's Red Guards and in Hong Kong (but not elsewhere in SE Asia) you could buy a blue Chairman Mao-style suit in Hong Kong (made in China and sold in mainland China department stores in Hong Kong) and wear it when walking around outside. If you were to do that in SE Asia you risk being arrested by the police.
Hope u have a wonderful stay on hongkong Sir Ken.Thanks for visiting my country Phil.😊
Hi Ken, in Hong Kong, people usually walk on overhead footbridges instead of on the sidewalk next to the roads. :D
Coming to HK in two weeks, it will be my first trip. It looks really nice !
Nei hou, Ken 😂 Yayyyyyy...here we come HONG KONG !!!
Wow, can’t believe you choose this hotel location in Kwai Chung, actually it’s very remote for tourist
Hello Ken.
Wherever you are, hopefully you have a safe trip.😊
Man great video! Dude $50 a night!!! I wish I could find a deal like that 😂 the cheapest I found this week is $150 a night because I'm a procrastinator and wait last minute 😭😭😭
Ah man that's a bummer! Maybe there is a holiday coming? I remember prices went up a lot during a holiday 😳 I also never book my hotels more than max 2 days in advance actually 😅
I am from HK and live in Canada. I can tell the BBQ pork is A+. Went back last year and will go again in May.
My fave new travel and food vlogger
🙏
Enjoy HongKong Mr. Ken 👍🚆🚖, stay safe 🙏
Welcome to Hong Kong, hope you like this place and come again😊
Why was it stressful? There're English signs nearly everywhere you see a sign. Ah I see, the area near your hotel is kinda like my experience in Osaka. Except there's hardly any English signs in Japan. HK is an international financialy centre, very different from Ho Chi Minh. Most locals are very nice :) Glad you had a good meal!
🥶
Well done, Ken, for trying to speak some Cantonese words, but like the Thai (and other Asian languages) it is vitally important to speak in the correct tone otherwise the locals will have no idea what you are trying to speak 🤣🤣 Enjoy Hong Kong ! 👍
Yes, for beginners, getting the right tone is the bugbear as the incorrect one can mean another thing altogether. Ken, bitte, be very careful, when ordering seafood eg.the crustacean ‘crabs’ as the wrong tone can arouse dirty stares from your neighbours dining in the same restaurant, as they will think “who is this pervy ordering female sexual organ at this time of the day?”😮
Interesting. Looking forward to experience more of HK with you.
Welcome to HK! Try local snacks like curry fishball, and tender beef tips with noodles.
Another local delight is Hong Kong milk tea. A drink invented during the colonial days and is considered the quintessential drink of Hong Kong with a very unique recipe. Sipping it hot at breakfast in the chilly weather overlooking the harbour is a superb experience....
❤
@@ongnancy1840 They use condensed milk with tea - yuk!
The char siu looked so good!
so happy you had great time here in hk 😄
Lovely ❤ I’m going in two weeks time. Can’t wait
Wowow in Tai Wo Hau
I lived there before
It’s really close to the panda mall ,you can go to have a look there
It's also been a week now since I left VN... I miss it so much. Enjoy HK!
Welcome To HongKong, the hotel which you stayed is quite near my home 😊
Ken….always need to try the local beers 🍺. Good call buddy.
nice vlog I love how you just go with the flow
Suddenly I miss Lantau Island(where my late grandmother born). Welcome to Hong Kong and enjoy a delicious Cantonese food!
