    I know I’m late to this painting party lol, but I had to say I love your videos. Your work is amazing! As a beginner I deeply appreciate how you take the time to WALK us through the process and how little paint you use. Most importantly, not to fear making mistakes. It’s interesting how you’re able to just jump right into sketching with paint! I’m afraid to even start with chalk lol. Hope I can paint at your level and confidence one day. I started painting a year ago as s hobby, and I realized that I need to be more patient and understand the concept of “under painting”. I’m started to see how it adds more dimension/ depth. Def checking out your other work and have made sure to subscribe.

    Love your painting of Venice, I love the way you only use 4 colours and the white, I am amazed at the beautiful colours you get with a limited pallet. You are a master of painting that is for sure! A real pleasure to watch you paint these, thank you so much for sharing.

    hey John haven't seen your paintings in over a year ... i love these kind of paintings very much! however i love the right side so vibrant and the colors and details outstanding but i feel like the left side needs more color more detail i feel like its not finished maybe you did add more afterwards this would be my first time ever critiquing anything you paint since all of your paintings have been pretty darn great since i started learning from you like 5 years ago ... take that as a compliment because i started out learning from you and since then i have grown very much....

    Hi John, It’s been over a year since I last painted anything. I’ve been wanting to paint one of your many awesome paintings but just did not make the time. Finally, I painted this wonderful scene which I thought might be easy but found it to be a bit difficult (mostly because of perspective). I’m almost finished with it but was wondering if you could explain 2 things. First, the white markings in the far distance behind the building & Second the top of the pink building...what is it? Haha?! Is it other buildings? Oh, sorry one more thing. I have astigmatism so I had difficulty with the middle pink building. The windows don’t look like they are correct. Perhaps I can post my painting so you can help me. Sorry this is so long. I love your paintings & want to get back on track cause I know you always say, practice, practice.❤️

    • @jmlisondra
      @jmlisondra  5 років тому +1

      Hello Angie, thank you for your comment... The white thing behind the building is part of the sky or something bottom and it's glowing white like it has been hit by sun. And then the details above the building is also part of the building, i just made it impressionistic to paint it faster... 😁... You can just add a little details on it to make it look like a part of the building above..

    Woww !! I've been waiting for this for a long time-Venice my favourite city!! I don't know how busy you might be but could you please consider doing classical painting tutorials? I understand they might take a long time cuz they are portraits and really complicated ones but i think that would be amazing and I'll take your account to the next step😍😍if not that (because i can understand why) could you condider doing a painting of Greek islands(Santorini,Mykonos) or the pantheon in Athens (im from Greece)? I would really appreciate it because painting is such a big passion to me and you are such an amzing teacher

    Wow! John! Incredible as always! Just a question, do you thin your paints with just water though? I've heard other artists say it breaks the bonds in the paint and it should be some flow improving product? No idea myself as I'm not a fine artist, and I doubt anyone will ever want to keep my work, but I was just curious? Much respect for your talent. Bless you.

    • @jmlisondra
      @jmlisondra  5 років тому +1

      thank you Melissa... yes I only used water to thin the acrylics... but it's not recommended to put plenty as it breaks the bonds... that's why I just used it on the underpainting. when I added the next layers or the details, I made sure that it's almost as pure... You can use retarders or other gels to keep the bonds while making it flow.
