And still had the time to find and explore new people. It WAS really an extremely interesting place, which while kind of 'competitive' really had more of an encouraging vibe, like get out and explore life!

What’s worse is how it basically forces us to repost the post on our stories only to expose that our friends/peers intentionally don’t like your post.. you would think ads/suggested posts that drown our feed is the reason our usual followers don’t like our posts cause they don’t see them… swear in the last 6 months I’ve noticed everyone has changed. We all used to like each other’s stuff, I’m not talking about getting validation from others but just having that support. Whatever the post is if it’s a milestone, cute selfie, creative photography.. now everyone suddenly changed and got comfortable viewing and not liking which I think that’s what affects the engagement to even reach out for a new audience. Our own peers are intentionally not supporting :( and people got way too comfortable being quick to view your stories and never like your posts…

Instagram chasing trends, killing chronological order and mimicking Tik Tok is what's leading to their own demise. When IG first started, it was the shit. Back when everybody would post casual posts of travel photos, food pictures and sharing hobbies to our friends/families. Getting potential followers at the time was a piece of cake! Chronological order kept us updated on what our friends and loved ones was up too.
As soon as Instagram changed their algorithm, it was never the same. It was more like keeping up with Joneses. Following the algorithm became more of a chore than an actual desire. Organic reach died. Every platform wants pay for play or else your post is pretty much hidden.
The golden age of social media unfortunately is dead :(

My page grew to 30k in 9 months in 2017/18 and then overnight when from 10k views on stories down to 2k and 8k likes per 2 posts a day to 1800 shared. I was posting what my followers enjoyed and it changed and then steadily declined since. Now my page gets 400 likes on photos, 10k views on reels 500 story views and my followers complain that they have to search to find me yet I post at least 3 times a week now. The app was fun, not anymore and I've spoken at length with some who have 1million views on reels who are photographers who'd rather just share their photo rather than a silly reel they feel they have to do for the app.

@@rogalaphotography I disagree. Instagram is long past the point when a professional photographer's work was the draw. I'm not too sure it ever was. Yes, great photographer's get a lot of followers but the second instgram was created it was a social media site. 1. Share pictures with friends 2. Follow inspirational photographer's and celebrities. Visual media-centric social media might be the a decent phrase.
And I don't think they plan to do anything specific for photographer's. You can link your website for images to be purchased. Beyond that the only two things they can really improve on is in app editing software and allowing higher resolution images. I wouldn't put either on a priority list for user engagement since one is covered by other software, apps, and new phones. The other is just a photohraphy website link away.

People are so afraid of interacting with content that they send you tons of dm’s, but that’s not what makes you grow. Nor is Stories. Reels that get shared are either fear mongering or comedy, so tell me how you make all creators grow? Please! I don't agree with the take that I don't see my friends' posts because my friends aren't posting as much. I think it's a little more complicated than that. Firstly, even when using the Following tab I notice that some of my friends' posts don't appear and I'll see it three days later. But secondly, yes, my friends are posting less. But they're posting less because their reach is drastically dropping so they're unmotivated to actually post. It's a circular issue, not just a "they're not posting" issue. IG isn't paying their creators in anything but exposure. So when that payment disappears, so do they.

You will get the exact same views, but more likes.🤔 And plus All these platforms do the same thing after a while They make sure you get a lot of likes at the beginning.
