  • I'm glad I decided to do this. I found a lot of corrosion in the early stages that would have created issues for sure if not damage. When I pulled my Hygain vertical out after sitting for 25 years, I broke it down and cleaned all of the joints and they were perfect thanks to the use of a similar product if not the same. I can't remember for sure. I will be retreating the Hygain as well.

I have a sirio three element beam I bought on amazon last year. It was working perfectly until I took it off the mast a few weeks back and laid it on my roof on account of the heavy winds and rains. Now the swr peg's to the right almost like a direct short. My antenna looks identical to yours. I'll have to take it all apart and dry it off and clean like you did yours. Thanks MuddBucket

Make sure the Gamma Match didn't get out of place or full of water. When I took mine apart it had a really tight seal so if it was to allow anything past, it would definitely be hard for it to escape.✌✌

First is the manufacture's link and second is Lowes of course. An anti seize compound may do the same or similar but I'm not sure about the conductivity on electrical contacts. One thing I have noticed is this doesn't completely displace water. After a year of being in my MacoGain VCLR 5002 Frankentenna I found it was still very pliable. I used a "compound from my father years back when assembling the HyGain VCLR2 and it sat mostly on the ground for nearly 20 years and it had zero corrosion in the joints when I took it apart. Unfortunately I can't ask my Dad what it was. ✌✌
