BlueFin Tuna on the Producer Sportfishing July 1st- 2nd 2023

Overnight offshore fishing trip July 1st - 2nd 2023 . Wind was calm and swell low . We started off chasing the night time bite at 11:30pm untill sunrise with no takers . Then hop from paddie to paddie with ocassional Bluefin schools only picking up a few off the schools and 1 bluefin off 1 paddie . Last stop of the day on a school that hung by the boat and bit occasionaly . I had farmed one fish early in the day and got a chance at redemption on the last stop . Sinker rig on a lighter setup since the fish stayed a little lower and only boiled a few times on the surface . It paid off with a 27lb , and my 1st bluefin of the season . Captain's Frank and Armando along with Crew Randy , Riley and Tom went above and beyond to try and catch fish and help myself and others . Whales were everywhere and the closest ive ever seen from a fishing boat . Total for the day was 13 Bluefin for 29 Anglers 20-30lb range .
Rod setup - Scuidco Custom wrapped 20-50lb graphite , Okuma CB12ii 2 speed lever drag reel , 50lb braid and 40lb Floro leader , ringed size 1 j-hook .
