Please do more of the paint first draw later videos! This makes so much sense now.
Yes! I love this kind of sketching snd painting.
I loved this video... I love all your videos. Please do more like this
Thank you so much. That's so lovely to hear. Thank you ❤️
I am very new to urban sketching, and this video is simply stunning! Yes, please make more of these!!!!
Thank you so much 💕 that's so lovely of you to say so. I definitely plan on doing at least a couple of urban sketching videos a month alongside other things. I have a loooong list of places I want to visit and sketch.
How recently did you start? ❤️
@@lynetteclark I think 25 limited and exclusive numbered prints would be a good seller for you
That's a really good idea. Thank you ❤️
@@lynetteclark I only started sketching a month ago; so I’m very new!
@@Ncstefanie I'm pretty new to it too, so we can learn together ☺️❤️
I love this even though it does look like a scary technique. 🥰
Yes do more from Isle of Wight!!
I'm working on something right now, that should hopefully be up for the weekend. Thank you so much for watching and commenting ❤️
I absolutely LOVE that you mention which particular colors you are using at each interval. It's very helpful to see which colors you use when and for what specific purpose (to tone down/ to accentuate/ to bring forward or push backward/ etc.) throughout the painting.
Thank you for sharing your creative process! 🙏☺
i thought you were painting in the pub! Lol! Sounds like it would be fun! "Pub-painting"....It would probably look fantastic!.... until saw it the next morning! Lol!
Gorgeous!!
Thank you so much ❤️❤️
I love your castle. The idea of painting a sketching with paint is new and a bit scary for me. Your work is lovely.
This was very interesting to watch, I enjoyed hearing where you thought things started toget a bit wonky, and where you were enjoying it more. I would definitely watch more content along these lines!
Thank you so much. I really appreciate your feedback ❤️
the BEST!
I admire you stepping out in bad weather to paint this and at the same time trying something new. Lovely result!
It wasn't too bad when I left the house, but the closer we got to the coast, the colder and windy it got. There's a chocolate Apothecary near by luckily, where we defrosted and had a chilli hot chocolate 😊
Thank you so much for watching and for your comments. I hope you have a lovely day. ❤️
I always love this technique - loose watercolor and sketching just go so good together.
They really do. I'm definitely going to be giving this a go a lot more. Thank you so much for watching ❤️
I love this method! It makes sketching in plain aire easier just laying the basics down and the details at home. I’d love to see more of this!
Hello there. I can't wait to actually get out there and sketch on location. I just need it to stop constantly raining 😆
There's definitely going to be plenty more sketching around the Isle of Wight videos coming up on my channel. Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words ❤️
Loving that you are pushing yourself outside your comfort zone, and the results. Yes please do more.
What a refreshing new approach! It turned out great and gave me the inspiration I needed! Keep them coming!
That's wonderful to hear 😊 Thank you so much for watching and for the comment. More is definitely on the way. Working on a new one right now that should hopefully be up for the weekend. ❤️
Doing urban sketching for several years and liked very much your showing the paint first in a clear way. I was still anxious to do that. I will definetly have a go. Thanks.
Amazing. Such an interesting and relaxing video.
Thank you so much for your feedback and for watching ❤️💕
Magic. PLEASE do more!
Hello Terri 😊 Thank you so much for watching. There's definitely going to be plenty more sketching around the Isle of Wight videos coming up on the channel. ❤️
Thank you for the video, Showing a new challenge, with a sketch that isn't planned. Yes, make more. :)
Thank you so much Kelvin. I've made a playlist dedicated to sketching, so they'll definitely be plenty more to come. ❤️
Wonderful vid. Great to see you away from your desk for a while
Haha thank you 😊❤️
Beautiful. Thank you for Sharing.
Not knowing how you wanted it to look…. It’s fantastic!!!! Love how it looks🥰👏👏👏
Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words ❤️
I like that you actually talk in this video there's a lot of art videos out there they just show something they don't explain how thick the paper is or they don't tell on how they come up with the colors or anything like I appreciate that you are talking in this
Haha it's getting me to shut up that's the problem 🤣
Thank you though, that's really helpful for me to know that my waffling is constructive. Thank you so much for watching and for your comments ❤️☺️
Really like this. Must try this technique of painting first. More Isle of Wight outdoors please!
It was an interesting technique and fun once I got my head around doing something backwards to how I usually work, and one that I am definitely going to practice further. Working on a new location which I am hoping to have ready for the weekend.
Thank you so much for watching and for commenting. ❤️
Wow!!! Incredible!!! Yes, definitely more, please and thank you!!!
Thank you so much Annette. 😊 There's definitely going to be plenty more videos like this one and have created a playlist dedicated to sketching.
Thank you so much for watching. ❤️😊
I’ll be 72 tomorrow and I’m convinced I won’t live long enough to create something this fabulous!
Hello Kay 👋 Wishing you the most wonderful of birthday's. Thank you so much for watching and for kind words ❤️☺️
This was wonderful to watch, and what an interestingly different way to go about it. Please do more! I must have a go at this method.
It looks magical, like something out of a storybook. More please.
Hello Delores 😊
Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words. There's going to be a whole playlist dedicated to sketching. I posted a new video this week where I sketched a thatched cottage. ❤️
I think what you did her is so beautiful. You are so talented at drawing and painting I just love this.
Awww thank you Nancy so much for watching and for your lovely words ❤️
Just love it!
Videos like these are so relaxing and you're really good at what you do.
Hello Killer. Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words. I'm so pleased that you enjoyed the video ❤️
I grew up in Ryde, really miss this place. Amazing sketch and painting thank you for sharing. Kind regards.
I like how you are using a sketchbook for what it is intended for: learning.
Hello Kaitlyn ☺️ This was definitely an education, my first time doing any urban sketching for at least 10 years.
Thank you so much for watching ❤️
Nice job. I love how that sky came out. Just the right amount of sky. Something ill keep in mind. Overall it all came out nice.
This is fantastic. Its interesting and lovely to see more about where you live, with beautiful results. Love seeing Dave too.
Thank you so much ❤️❤️
He's so adorable. I want one. 😍
Love this style, please do more.
Thank you so much. ❤️Working on my next sketching video at the moment, which I am hoping to have up by the weekend.
Thank you for very interesting and great time
Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I'm so glad that you enjoyed the video. ❤️
delightful - love watching and listening to the whole process
It was interesting watching the process and hearing you explain the different stages.
Beautiful location and watercolour painting. I love that tower, it’s so unique and has such rich history - you can really see that in your painting too. And on a side note, Dave looks so cool in his little warm coat! 😍😍😍 x
He still needs a Foo Fighters hoodie 🤣
I love the Appley Tower. We're so lucky to have so many old and beautiful buildings on the island. I can't wait to get out and about to do some others. Once it stops raining 🤣
Thank you lovely lady ❤️
Ha, Dave would look awesome in a Foos Hoodie 😃🤩
I’ve always wanted to go into Appley Tower. I think they wanted to use it as an arts’ space once, which would have been lovely! But your watercolour definitely does it justice! I can’t wait for you to do some more watercolours from around the Island. Godshill would be idyllic 😍 x
I remember ages ago, when I was a kid, there was a tarot card reader in there. I've never seen inside. I would love to. ❤️
Yes I remember there being a tarot card reader there too. I really wanted to go! I’d love to see inside there x
@@raebarker9903 hopefully they'll open it up to the public again soon. 💖❤️❤️
That was absolutely amazing! I'm from Canada so I'd love to see more of your beautiful island.
Hello Elaine. I have always wanted to visit Canada, especially in the winter. There's definitely going to be plenty more sketching videos of the Isle of Wight coming up on my channel.
Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words ❤️
Awesome sketch and paint work. Good job
Thank you so much for watching Donna, and for your kind words ❤️
Good job Lynette. The trees look spooky which suits the building well. Living on the IOW ! Luck you.
Thank you for showing how to loosen up when painting. Cute dog too. I love the IofW.
Hi Lynette, this is a great technique to watch in action. I too am a bit of a control freak and usually draw before painting. I'm going to have a go at a paint first, draw later sketch and challenge myself to loosen up a bit. It's really interesting hearing your commentary too......especially all those fleeting doubts about whether something looks right or not. I can identify with that infuriating thought process.....
Incredible talent. I recently retired and love to take up watercolor. Relaxing to watch with an amazing outcome.
Brill, never seen this technique before, thanks
It is wonderful. Please do more of these.
Loved the video. Surprised it was on the Isle of Wight. My Aunt lived there for a number of years in the 70’s and I stayed there several times. Loved it 😊
Loved ur video and the style of painting. Thank u so much❤❤🏴🇨🇦
Oh my god, just when I think I can't be amazed anymore........you pull this out of the hat
That 'sketch' is stunning 11/10
Thank you Phil ❤️❤️❤️❤️
@@lynetteclark 1 of your best to date.....and that's saying something
Really? ☺️ It was nice doing something different. Fingers crossed other people will think so too. ❤️
@@lynetteclark i loved the outdoor bits, and Dave is a sweetie ❤️
Thank you Phil. There are so many beautiful places where I live, it seems like a bit of a missed opportunity to not feature them occasionally. Dave is a little sweetie. ❤️
Lovely! Love this! Love your descriptions and narrative as you paint.
Thank you so much for watching and your feedback. I'm so glad that you enjoyed it ❤️
Yes, I like this - you've inspired me to try paint then sketch... well done.
Wonderful! And genuinely inspiring.
The technique with watercolor is much useful when you are on the go and can’t really stay for too long in one spot just to capture the colors and then going home to finish. It came out awesome thank you for sharing 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙏🏻
Thank you so much for watching and your kind words. I did bring paints with me but the wind was blowing everything around too much, so I gave up, went for a hot chocolate and sketched at home 😆
This is so inspiring and helpful!! I need to do this. Get loose! Go crazy and just do it!
Really enjoyed watching and found the result very expressive👌😃
Thank you Jacqui ❤️ I am so pleased that you enjoyed the video. Thank you so much for watching ☺️
Enjoyed watching this. Yes would love to see you doing more of this type. It turned out very nice :)
Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words. There will be many more sketching around the Isle of Wight to come. I'm currently working on my next sketching video right now that should hopefully be up for the weekend. ❤️
Fantastic! I would love more videos like this.
Yes, please! More videos with this technique. This is lovely!
Hello Kim ☺️ There's definitely going to be plenty more sketching around the Isle of Wight videos coming up. I just need it to stop raining 😆
Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words ❤️
Thank you for sharing your video on this technique.
Love it.
I loved watching this. What a talent you have! 🎉
Wow I saw the thumbnail and clicked on it because it reminded me of where I grew up, Ryde I.O.W. Many years ago I sat and drew that same building. I'm just getting back into traditional art and this video has truly touched my heart more than words can explain. Thank you.
Hey Anthony. I grew up in Ryde too. I'm so pleased that you enjoyed the video. I'm planning on sketching many locations around the island. I recently just posted a video of Little Jane's cottage in Brading.
Your comments have made my day. ❤️ Thank you so much for watching
I left the Isle of Wight when I was about 12 years old and I’m now in my 30s. You’ve inspired me to take a holiday and do some painting. I’m looking forward to seeing more of your videos :)
That's awesome 😊 I hope you get to visit the island again soon. Thank you once again ☺️❤️
Amazing, thanks for sharing this masterpiece work!
Hello Josue. Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words ❤️
A very enjoyable video. Your sketch turned out beautifully. Thanks for posting. More depictions of historic sites would be enjoyable. Despite living in Scotland, I remain a sucker for historic buildings, and landscapes. I’ve only just stumbled across your channel, but you now have a new subscriber. Good luck with the growth of it. You sound like you honestly feel joy when you paint which made me smile. 🖌🎨👩🏻🎨👍🏻❤️
Thank you so much and a big warm welcome to the channel. 🥰
I absolutely love old architecture and there's about 30+ locations I have on my to- sketch list.
One of my close friends lives in Abroath and I am incredibly jealous of the beautiful photos she sends us regularly.
Art does make me incredibly happy and helps keep me sane.
Thanks once again for watching, supporting my channel and your lovely comments. ❤️
@@lynetteclark oh, please do add the historic sights to the list!! Keep it coming, it's great to watch (& hear) while learning from your technique.
Wow
I love it.
Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words ❤️
I like the watercolor first approach, especially since you can later on a little more later after you've established some detail
Hey Matthew. It's such a fun technique. Thank you so much for watching and for your comments ❤️
Love it.
Thank you so much ❤️❤️
This is a great demo! Would love more!!
Good effort.
I absolutely love this technique, what a great exercise in working loosely, very impressionistic. Fantastic! Please do more like this.
Hello Bonnie 😊 There's definitely going to be plenty more sketching around the Isle of Wight videos coming up on the channel. Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words ❤️
I love the way you have created the Appley Tower, im new to any type of painting and really like this style.....so it's a more from me :)
I love this, and Dave makeing an appearance 😍
Dave is the star of the show. Thank you Jan for watching ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
I like because it is like the Japanese block prints sort of style when it all comes together !🐸🐸🐸🐸
Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words ❤️
This turned out great! I want to try this technique myself. Keep up the great work!
Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words. It's definitely a fun technique ❤️
Cool. From an 'unimpressive' beginning to an impressive finish. It's all in the details, isn't it, in this particular piece. The old tower became alive at the end when you added all those little bumps and wrinkles. You see, even wrinkles have their place too in life. Seriously, I find it was the details at the end that made this drawing/painting appealing to the eye and mind. Good insights too. Thanks.
Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words Lou. ☺️
It's the wrinkles in life that give something character 😊❤️
This is amazing. Please make more videos using this technique!
Amazing landscape and very beautiful watercolor sketching😍😍
Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words. I'm incredibly lucky to live where I do and can't wait to share more of it on my channel ❤️
I enjoyed that and it looks like such relaxing fun. Will definitely do this
Thank you. I have struggled with sketching but have been fairly successful with more formal compositions.
Your demonstration has prompted me to try the paint first technique.
Very enjoyable
Thank you so much, I am so pleased that you enjoyed it ❤️
This is exactly the type of landscape I enjoy doing myself. I learned quite a lot from this tutorial. Please keep posting!
Thank you so much Susan ☺️❤️
I'm incredibly lucky with where I live as I'm surrounded by so many beautiful buildings and landscapes.
Thank you for watching and for your kind words ❤️
I LOVE this video. I've been struggling with keeping my work loose. I end up with way too much detail in the inking. You're so right when you say knowing when to stop with detail is the most difficult part. I can't wait to try this myself. I'm subscribing to your channel and can't wait to see more!!!
Hello Penny 😊 Welcome to my channel. I'm so glad that you enjoyed the video.
I always struggle with just adding that one more bit of detail. I find it helpful to ask if it is essential to the overall image or not.
I hope you have fun giving this technique a go. Your cat in your profile picture is beautiful by the way 🥰
Thank you so much for watching, subscribing and for your kind words ❤️
Yes! More Please!!
I LOVED this!! I am very new to watercolour and am very interested in urban sketching. This looks awesome! Keep doing them!
I really enjoyed viewing this video. I am a big fan of watercolor and pen work. I'd like to see more of this content.
Hello Barbara ☺️ Thank you so much for watching, I am so pleased that you enjoyed it. I have a dedicated playlist for sketching videos as I have created a few now, with plenty more to come on a weekly basis. ❤️
Totally awesome, I’ve never seen this type of work. Really enjoyed your process, thank you.
Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I'm so pleased to hear that you enjoyed the video. ❤️
I enjoyed watching your art journey in this new tecnique. Very inspiring! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I'm so pleased that you enjoyed the video 😊❤️
What an interesting video Lynette not noticed this technique before it really does work really well, thanks greatly appreciate Lynette you sharing and explaining the method used and to see the amazing result
Hello Philip 😊
I'm so pleased that you enjoyed the video. Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words ❤️
A folly! That was my first guess. This video is very timely; I have been planning to use something along these lines for a sketch this weekend, and the more examples the better. Thank you.
Enjoying your channel, great art 🎨 👌🏾 👍🏾
Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words ❤️☺️
Bravo !! 💚✌️💚
Thank you great idea paint first and draw later I am going to give it a try thank you
Hello Luis. Welcome to my channel 😊
It's a really fun technique. I'm so pleased to hear that you feel inspired to give it a go.
Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words ❤️
Sitting in my conservatory in Wroxall finishing off my sketch done from a very windy rainy Steephill Cove , I saw your pic of Appley Tower Twas lovely to see someone else challenging themselves to tackle some of the quirky buildings on the island. My first was the tower at St Helens! And no one came up to me to have a look!!
I hope you do more cos it was very interesting and enjoyable to watch and with the warmth coming tis a pleasure to sketch n paint around the island.
So yep more please!
Please
Hello Barbara, greetings from Brading 👋
I'm bracing myself for painting in my cold conservatory/arty space today too. 😆
We're so incredibly lucky to be surrounded by so many beautiful old buildings and landscapes aren't we?!
I have been a bit of a recluse for a while, so I am challenging myself to get out of the house and try sketching many locations over the island and aiming to do one sketch video a week, so there's plenty more to come.
Thank you so much for watching and commenting. I hope you have a fantastic day ❤️
Love your style. Thanks.
I loved everything about this!
Thank you so much Theresa ❤️
Love it! So loose and beautiful
I loved your video. Please, please do more. You did a wonderful job of inspiring us to be kind and not too judgmental of ourselves as we sketch. I'm a perfectionist and really struggle with being loose and free. Thank you for sharing your small struggles.
Watching you paint this castle with line and wash was absolutely fantastic. Thanks, I hope I can do it too.
Hello there 🙂 Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words. It's a really fun technique and I thoroughly recommend that you pick up that paint brush and give it a go. Hope you have a lovely day ❤️
