I played through the first game three times. The Geth only attacked because they were being indirectly controlled by the reapers. Other than that the Geth fight in self defense in all occasions.
I accidentally let my Tali die at the end of 2 so I ended up with the admiral instead and because of that I had no reason not to pick the geth. Then their leaders marched their people to death and everyone on the Normandy was like "I cant believe youve done this" like they didnt just suicide themselves at the geth. They made their bed. They should have to lie in it.

its hard to see the good and the evil in a decision like this. a price is paid either way. you can say the quarians were overzealous and you can say the geth were cowards. its clear the geth are people after the upload and so its genocide either way. everyone makes mistakes and both sides had the potential to make up for them. the geth had to make hard decisions they should never have had to because the quarians went too far. they sacrificed too much but its hard blaming a child for being afraid
How is he a monster? The Quarians created Geth, and all the Geth wanted to do was serve their creators. When there were signs the Geth were evolving into true AI, the Quarians solution was genocide. They even killed or imprisoned the Quarians that helped the Geth. Then Geth rebelled, won, and let the remaining Quarians leave. Plus in this battle the Quarians are taking the offence, if peace was not an option, I would let the Quarians die.
There are *possibly* paragon and renegade choices for brokering peace. They're only available with 4 bars of renegade/paragon points plus you need to have imported a ME2 save with certain conditions met.
Do geth still refer to themselves as 'we' or do they now all consider themselves people. The Prime that talked to Shepard was referring to all Geth so I wasn't sure
I know this is stupidly late, But upon the upgrades taking effect - All had received true intelligence, They had thought processes similar to sentient organics. They were truly alive, and were individuals.

Even though each 'unit' is an individual, they retain the ability to uplink and share data, erasing identifiers as to which memories belong to which Geth. Overall, I don't see a reason for them to consciously change from "we" to "I." Considering the mechanical makeup of their species, doing so saves very little resources for a benefit that only matters to outsiders. Geth think at the speed of light and likely do not have a comparable 'language' that they use while doing so, except possibly for binary, which has no distinctions for individuals over collectives, since it is a programming language. And that's assuming that binary IS the programming language used by Geth. As machines built by an alien race, there's no way to know what programming language they were designed upon or how well it translates to binary, if it translates at all.
Quarians wanted Rannoch because they could adapt faster to their home planet. Geth don't need to. They can live anywhere. If they truly wished to avoid conflict, wouldn't the Geth have just moved somewhere far far away instead? :/

In addition, Rannoch was their homeworld too, I don't see why they should accept being forced to leave their space and their worlds because the people who tried to exterminate them refused to reconcile. There's also nothing stopping them from sending out scouting parties to systems with no habitable (for organics) planets, (which would be most of them) and starting 'colonies' out there as a backup plan. They could even find an isolated star with appropriate characteristics and built their structure around that instead. Organics would never think to look for them out there, as it's obvious no one in universe thought of what the Geth would realistically need to colonize a new system.
I love Tali, all the other quarians are kind of scummy and only want war with the Geth, so much so they're willing to wage one in the middle of arma-fucking-geddon, the only other Quarian I really liked was Admiral Koris, and hes the one that sides with the Geth.

Dude, they posted this video and the opposite-siding with the Quarians-show people what the alternatives to the ideal scenario were, how things might play out. Game replay value and a show of ME's gripping writing, not merely a disregarding of the ideal path.
Ironically this marks the third time the Quarian Admirals fuck things up. If they had not belayed Tali's order, they wouldnt have died. Honestly speaking, the true villain in the Rannoch scenario, other than the Reaper, is that fucking Admiral who should have been relieved of his command even before ME3 began.
There are two endings besides resolution. You can also kill Legion to stop the upload and the Quarians destroy the geth. I'm impressed you got the resolution ending on a first playthrough.
Yeah, fuck this choice. The quarians are arguably the coolest race in the ME universe, I'm not sacrificing them for a bunch of hive-mind robots. I'm honestly surprised at how many people think this is the better choice,. Oh well, not caring about the geth made it easy for me to sacrifice them in the Destroy ending. I wish I could save EDI though.

The Quarians are dickheads that got everything coming to them, they created a machine race to act as slaves, but when that race began actually showing sentience they didn't think to nurture or foster this incredible discovery, they went immediately to mass murder, even their own people who wanted to help the Geth, plus in 3 they wage another war when there's only Armageddon going on, and then get mad when the Geth choose the reapers out of self defense. And even most Quarians you meet are shitheads too, Tali and Koris being the only standouts.
