One of the greatest songs of all time and one of the greatest verses of all time. Charlie's pen game was pure and the way she conveyed her words and image was so beautifully raw. I wish I could go back to those days when our women was coming with this energy. She really embodied the term "ride or die" and expressed it perfectly. Industry politics was the issue and us real ones know that. Miss your presence in this game, big sis. 😔
This generation sees it as foolish loyalty but in the 90s we didn't have phones and temptation, we actually needed people and respected the life for better or worse. Everyone is a finish liner now
This is one of the dopest Hiphop tracks of all time. It will never get old. Charlie Baltimore's rap still gives me chills till date. The beat is heavenly also. I didn't use to like Ja that much back then but he gained my respect on this track and rainy days.
@@cleonpierre7969 😂😂 kinda true tho. These present day rappers don't posses the kinda of charisma n bravado these old timers posses. Charli never got a chance to release an album. Her first and only album "Cold As Ice" was only released as a promo at the time. It never got a proper release. Then she was supposed to release an album when she was on "Murder Inc." but she never got the chance because that's when Murder Inc. was going through legal issues. I think all of that is why she's not more well known. She has the talent, swag and style. She should have been bigger. Too bad she's had so many label issues over the years.
Mannnnnn! I was there when Ja Rule was in his prime dropping hit after hit. He was untouchable with Murder Inc before 50 start riding him every chance he got. Even then he was still holding his own. Charlie and Vita was hard as Fuc as well! It was a great time to be alive when Rule was dropping his hits with his mad collaboration of Kiss, Fat Joe, Nas, Fatal, and Black Child just to name a few. I miss those days of rap and hip hop 💯
Yh.. actually I just saw Genuwine was doin some new things, he was on tv a few months ago promoting on the steve harvey daytime show.. T.I. & Nelly still do shows from what I've seen on their Reality shows.. I guess the mainstream would rather promote 'that other stuff' instead
We are in the internet age now. Everyone is free to determine what they wanna listen to, what videos they want to watch. No need to rely on radio or follow any trends. Shit you got choices now. If you like an artist follow em on the networks, support the music. Fuck what the new generation is doing. Just cause it's new don't mean its hot. OGs Fat Joe and Jay-Z had platinum singles this year . They are in their late 40s. With plenty of juice left in the tank. 😂
Yes! That is such a brilliant analysis. Then you see Beyonce & Jay Z do a Similar Video ironically called Bonnie & Clyde. Wasn't' 2000-2002 such an amazing time in Music. Dick Clark did the "Last" American Bandstand TV Special and even he knew that a "New" Era as beginning. Popstars became the First Musical Reality Show that a actually began in 1998 when Five Little Girls talked about how in New Zealand they never had a Girl Band popular like The Spice Girls. If those Five Little Girls had patened their idea they would have been set for life considering that there where 40 Versions all over the world. Across The Ocean in 2002 Five Young Ladies became Girls Aloud the most successful Group to come out of reality TV. Also if you look carefully there are a lot of similarities. Charlie goes to Jail, Lady Gaga goes to Jail in The Telephone Video with Beyonce, Charlie gets Bailed Out, as does Lady Gaga. Sadly enough Charlie shows how a Woman goes to Jail for her "Man" that L'il Kim, Foxy Brown and Da Brat also did.

How Charli Baltimore's verse Nestle's sweetly into that beat, and her sharp delivery of hard bars on an instrumental that's sweet nectar to the ear, coupled with her vocals, she makes magic out of this record. I was a kid when this came out and I considered it a perfect track. I still do today.
