What is Optic Neuritis?

Dr. Brian Weinshenker, a clinician at the Mayo Clinic, describes the scientific process of how optic neuritis (ON) affects the eyes optic nerve. People living with neuromyelitis optica (NMO) can experience ON during NMO attacks. Symptoms can include eye pain and visual impairment.

I had photokeraitis from welding at work, so I went to a Mayo hospital for a eye exam and after a 8 month process of multiple testing Mayo doctors told me that I have a Meningioma brain tumor growing in my optic nerve area that is causing my left eye to go blind. After performing the surgery in my brain area they found that I had Optic neuritis. It's such a shame that these doctors misdiagnosed me and here we have a video of a Yayo doctor talking about optic neuritis. WOW and you guys were considered one of the top Hospitals in America. The only thing you guys are good at is Malpractice.

i was wondering, why did you get 2 lumbar punctures? im just wondering cause I don't want a 2nd one, since they already know i have MS

i have a second case of ON and the doc said to do another MRI and also a Lumbar Puncture which I am a bit scared about? looks nasty plus the headaches...but do the risks outwiegh the pros? any advice welcome thanks

Anyone can translate to portuguese for me??? I dont speak English, but a have optic neuritis (ON) and I am serarching for treatment in my country (Brazil), but i dont understand what Dr. Brian says. Thats a lot for everybory!!!!

@cocoisss i forgot about it til i read ur advice as it was a year again i decided not to do it in the end and all ok for now thinkin about it now i still feel like i made the right decision for me even thou most advised to do it but it was too stressful to go thru Was ur outcome ok?

@stefkova1234 I had two lumbar punctures, they werent that bad really, just lie down for an hour and u will be fine
