    This bike is still in break in stage and I'm moving up from a 150cc scooter so nothing too crazy here. Sorry about my GoPro inexplicably stopping recording after about 10 minutes.

    First- welcome to the VFR (Viffer) family... you have purchased the best bike ever produced- not 10 out of 10 at anything but 8.5 at everything (9.5 for handling.. LOL ) and reliable as all get out and that's what matters. My recommendation, since you seem to love this 8th Gen./. go and grab yourself a sweet 5th Gen that you can get for about $2800-3000 in great condition with 25-30K miles and YOU WILL love that bike too... I know I know.. why 2 VFR's ?? bc you can see the growth of the bike from then til now.. and 5th Gen is commonly referred to as the best VFR ever made.. ( I have 2) .. just a thought, and you get a top 10 bike as well for under $3000 that you can really dig into without worrying about totaling a $12K bike etc.. welcome to the family..

      I bought an 86 interceptor 750 in 92. It had been wrecked on the track and repaired, then used by the racer as his road bike until he sold it to me, and still had all the upgrades he had put on it for the track. The only problem it had as a result of the wreck was the cowling being tweaked and breaking near the mount. No other problems ever as long as I had it, nor as long as the buddy I sold it to had it... great bikes, super reliable!
      I’m thinking about getting another one, it figures that those idiots at Honda have again shelved them.... damn that company is retarded sometimes!

      @@Rick_Sanchez_C137_ Check Motosport Hillsboro in Hillsboro, Oregon (near Portland). I know for a fact that they have a couple red 2015 Interceptors...check out motoshippers too, as they could deliver your bike cheaper than anyone else if you decide to swipe one of them up. Good luck.

    • @gatorgreg1565
      @gatorgreg1565  8 років тому +3

      Yeah it handles great for a bike that weighs over 500 lb - extremely stable in turns. Coming from a Ninja 300 and a 150cc scooter I know I'm not ready for a SuperSport yet. The power on this seems just right to me and since it does 0-60 in 3.0 and 1/4 mile in 11.4 it's still faster than most things on the road :)

    You know what makes the wind protection better is to get an ermax double bubble windscreen in dark smoke cause that's what I have and I love it, it's way better with wind protection! The wind hits the top of my helmet now and not near my chest as before👍🏻

    Thanks for responding Gater. I'm old and I'm poor and I don't need much. But I'm tired of public transportation. I'm going to go for a 150 despite the wheel size. Easy Does It mate. Makes me sound terribly British doesn't it?

      Mark the PCX150 is a great bike. You will be surprised, if punched well above its weight. I have a 2019 just for about a month now, prior to that I had the original 125cc 2011. Both great bikes, very practical, and Honda quality build. Runninvmcoats very very low, lowers if your handy to do things yourself too. I have owned a lot of different bikes including the original vf750 from 1983. Pcx is the most fun I’ve had on two wheels, as you ride it everywhere flat out. ..! Enjoy mate,

    Full speed and then the picture go black? Did you die? :-o
    How is the wind protection? Looking to change my Monster 821 because of lack of wind protection - but not sure about the torque and sound on the VFR.. They should make the 1200 in this interceptor styling! that would have been fun!

    • @gatorgreg1565
      @gatorgreg1565  7 років тому +2

      Yeah I hit a bird and catapulted off the bridge at over 130 - lol - actually my GoPro just sucks and cuts off by itself. If you like Ducati I'd wait to try out the new SuperSport: supersport.ducati.com/en_us/ It's more a sports-tourer like the Interceptor than the Panigale. Wind screen protection is good on the Interceptor, I it's no GoldWing but it would have to be better than your naked Monster especially at higher speeds. Bike was very stable even at triple digits and tucked down the wind noise on mic wasn't that bad. Yeah the VFR1200 is a fast mofo - just gets a bad rap cuz of it's Flash Gordon styling.

    you're riding the clutch way too much. also shifting, but practice will make it better. You ought to try out a RC51, you'd be amazed in 3rd gear.

  • @lilyrosejournals5844
    @lilyrosejournals5844 8 років тому +1

    Why did you trade the scooter for the Interceptor? Would you still recommend the PCX?

    • @gatorgreg1565
      @gatorgreg1565  8 років тому

      Uh, did you watch the full video? LOL But yes, I would still recommend the PCX - I still miss it on occasion but I'm loving my Interceptor. The only thing the PCX was lacking was ABS - besides that it was scooter perfection. I decided I wanted to get something more highway capable - I'm planning a cross-country trip for next summer and the Interceptor will be (I hope) an excellent sport-touring machine when equipped with the factory saddlebags.

      I would think a Forza would give you the power and storage space to make a fun cross country trip... and at half the price. Plus you get to be in a more upright position for a longer period of time without fatigue.

    Are these bikes heavy? I’m 150lbs at 5’10 think it’s to heavy or to big?

  • @opmike343
    @opmike343 7 років тому +1

    VFR800's, at least in the states, are kind of a niche product. Die hard fans hated the VFR1200 and they didn't find the 2014+ model to be enough of an update to ditch their 5th and 6th gens.
    Honda USA is also silly with their pricing strategy, and there's TOUGH competition if you're going to sell a 500lb motorcycle with barely 100hp for 13K. Personally, I recognize there's more to a motorcycle than horsepower, but even I'd have a hard time arguing for this bike over something like a Ninja 1000 from a specs perspective. The ONLY reason I'm seriously shopping one of these bikes is because I find the Ninja 1000 to be hideous.

    Man! Sure doesn't have the turn radius of the 1200GS I had! Haha, great watching the bike. I started riding because of a youtuber, Billmaa on his '94 Viffer. Got hooked from then on. I went from my CBR250R after 3 months, to an 09 GS. Man that thing hustled getting on the road and touring loaded down. I got so used to tight u-turns on the Beemer that I almost tipped my CBR when I hit the steering stop

    • @gatorgreg1565
      @gatorgreg1565  7 років тому +1

      LOL I think you're right. I watched this vid again for the first time in awhile and that first turn I did in the median was horrendous - first I overshot it, then stalled it, couldn't really back up cuz my ass end would protrude into left lane of traffic, so I ended up having to gingerly ride it through some thick grass because steering wheel could only turn so far.

    had a 2006. VTEC at 6400. loved it there. play all day in City traffic in that range. over priced just like they over priced the 1200. they're for sale here for $7,500. I'm sure it's the base model. I'd make them throw in a center stand. that's one thing that sucks. they used to be stock with the stand. I do like the slimness of the new model. have fun saving up for the $990 valve adjust. I did mine at 35,000 and I only had two valves slightly out of spec. probably should have waited till at least 50,000 I guess but I had the bike for 4 years and thought it a good idea. mostly spent money on tires and oil and chain and sprockets, not that it needed the chain but I like gold DID chains and always change chain and sprockets together. speaking of tires... get Perelli Angel GT's. you'll never buy another tire in your life that's this good. you'll feel the lighter steering.

    • @Wabbit1961
      @Wabbit1961 6 років тому

      and I like how you break in your bike, so fuck all those negative comments. broke mine in that way and had zero issues, plus better than average gas mileage. you can do 200 miles on an interceptor. my low fuel light used to come on at 180-190.

  • @markwalters8729
    @markwalters8729 8 років тому

    I think you might miss the PCX. Remember you didn't use the ninja that much. No storage space. But you're young you can afford it.

    • @gatorgreg1565
      @gatorgreg1565  8 років тому

      I do miss the storage capability of the PCX! I've had to get a backpack to make up for some of the missing storage (see my channel for review I did of the Honda Blackhawk backpack) but the Interceptor can hold a surprising amount of stuff under the rear seat cowl (I did another vid where I was able to put a burger and fries under there - lol). Eventually I'm gonna get the oem side bags and probably a tank bag too for a cross country trip I'm planning for next summer.

    how's the seating position, sporty or more upright,
    and what's the top speed

    • @gatorgreg1565
      @gatorgreg1565  8 років тому

      Measured top speed was 138 mph according to Cycle World review (see link in description), with 1/4 mile in 11.37sec @ 117.40 mph. Seating position is really nice, it's more sporty and leaned over than Ninja 1000 (one of it's main competitors I looked at) but it's more upright and way more comfortable than CBR1000RR and ZX-10R which I also looked at. Seat is adjustable by 0.8 inch and Honda sells bar risers that raise bars 0.5 inch, so if you wanted least pressure on wrists you could lower seat and put the bar risers on.
