Is there anyway you can do an update on Petes, Matts and Tom and Debras earthship's?? There is a video from "LANDiO" (10/3/2020) where a gentleman talked and toured all three earthships. He also toured one built by a lady in Crestone who used "tire-bales" in her house. She had an interesting bottle in the front wall in her house. Could you tour here's too?? Really really want to build an earthship in Oklahoma. We own and operate a General Contracting business, and have extensive construction, engineering, and project management experience. We are just beginning the process of determining whether we will be “allowed” to build one here. If a traditional earthship isnt approved, then we already have some thoughts on alterations that may be approved. Its going to be interesting

Have you found any other pockets of land in the country with similar freedom to crestone?
Yes, Idaho county in Idaho. Only permit we had was electrical, water, sewer and foundation. We built a 900 ft cabin along the little salmon river. We spent 800 dollars in permits it was great.
Note: purchasing an off grid existing house is very sustainable.

There’s an HOA out in the middle of no where?
It was originally subdivided to make a retirement community. So even though it's in the middle of nowhere, they had a development plan for the parcels and therefore an HOA. Hope I answered your question, Vermont Mike :)

Most places with cheap lots are failed developments with a failing corrupt poa still milking the owners....and therefore overlook offgriders.....I know I live in one..
