Rearing 'Attenborough' - The first days of a captive-bred Bearded Vulture chick

  • The Bearded Vulture Captive Breeding Centre of Guadalentín in Andalusia, Spain, welcomed their first Bearded Vulture chick of the 2020/21 breeding season! The chick, nicknamed 'Attenborough' after the legendary Sir David Frederick Attenborough hatched on 29 January, weighing 145,1 g. This little one now plays a significant part in the conservation efforts to restore the Bearded Vulture to its former range in Europe.

    i’ve always wondered if baby vultures come out of the egg and immediately eat meat. i have seen the truly newborn and they seem so helpless
