      I think the problem people have is that we couldn't trade up. However we got a lot of talented young players which means more than likely that Smart or Bradley or gone. I hope we keep Smart and go for Cousins

    I gotta say, he reminds me of a tough high motor old school talent with the passion. Somethin that some of my fellow celtics fans don't get is that we have something unique growing in our culture - passionate strong driving high intensity overwhelming on D players. think about the trend towards 3 point shooting we've seen in the top teams in the league, and we are becoming innovators with our ability to defend on the perimeter. we can create fast break points while taking away shots from opponents with one area of elite talent

    Hello p0rign01
    Would you say that Rozier has a higher ceiling than Marcus Smart? There is no way that the Celtics keep Smart, Rozier, AND Bradley. I would love to keep both Smart and Rozier but they are so similar that its tough to see both on the roster long term.

    • @pete3198
      @pete3198 9 років тому +1

      Talha K I think he does, to be honest...but they are different players so hard to say.
      Smart to me seems like more of a 'do everything' swiss army knife type of guy. Decent passer, decent rebounder, potential as a scorer, great defender, etc. I could see him starting at PG or SG or even playing some SF against smaller teams. But I don't think he has the pure athleticism to ever become a superstar - I think he is most likely to become an Iggy type player - those great guys who should be all-stars but don't get votes because they aren't flashy enough.
      Rozier however with his offensive versatility and explosive athleticism / physical gifts I think has a lot more potential as a scorer. I have no trouble at all imagining him as a 20 PPG+ scorer in the NBA, so when you combine that with his defence and his ability to rebound the ball I think he could be an All-Star and even an outside shot at becoming a surprise superstar.
      His biggest knocks are basically his height and his lack of 'feel for the game' (passing, court vision, etc) because the latter limits his ability to play PG, hence making his height more of an issue. But height is less an issue in today's NBA and there are plenty of guys who have shown strong success playing at the SG spot despite having PG size (Bledsoe, Monta Ellis, etc).
      Some people are down on his shooting, but from what I can see he is a capable shooter with reasonable form, and I don't see anything to indicate that he doesn't have potential to become a good (or at least solid) shooter.

    • @Lord_Talha
      @Lord_Talha 9 років тому

      Peter H Thanks for taking the time to explain. I want to keep both Rozier and Smart and get rid of Bradley.
      Then the C's would start Rozier and Smart and bring Thomas off the bench.

      As a Louisville fan, I watched every game this kid played. And he BROUGHT it, there are some great highlights that didn't get shown. But honestly the last quarter of the season and post season play he was lights out, point blank. He's still growing as a player That's scary.

  • @treerunner1
    @treerunner1 9 років тому

    I like the picks the celtics made last night. All of them seem to be talented and could have a future in the NBA. My problem is that I can't figure out what Danny Ainge's plan is for the future. I'm pretty sure that there are 9 guards on the Celtics roster now. They might be able to find minutes for 4 of them at most. Now, there guys like James Young and Evan Turner who are listed as SG/SF, so that is part of it. I think Phil Pressey is gone as well as Chris Babb since their contracts are unguaranteed (which is a shame because I really like Pressey). There must be some sort of trade in the works with big man heavy teams, like Philly, Sacramento, etc.

    • @pete3198
      @pete3198 9 років тому

      Cory Palmer Pressey and Babb are gone, you can count on that.
      Young is (IMHO) overrated, may or may not stick around.
      Smart and Thomas aren't going anywhere unless there's a chance to bring back a serious star (e.g. Cousins / Aldridge / Love) in return.
      Bradley, is IMHO, a bit expendable now. Rozier's skill set basically looks like a better version of Bradley. He's basically Bradley with better physical strength (one of Bradley's only weaknesses defensively), better ball handling (another of Bradley's big weaknesses) and better ability to get to the basket and create his own offense.
      If Boston are looking for ways to clear cap space so they can sign a free agent, then consider that (with Bass' contract expiring) Bradley and Wallace are really the only two players on the team with contracts of significant size - they are worth around $17M combined, which is enough to bring back a max contract.
      I would suggest that there is a HIGH probability that Ainge is working on finding a deal that involves a team taking Bradley, Sully (his contract expires after this year, and is expected to want a max extension - which Danny won't give) and Wallace plus other assets (picks, etc) in return for a star. I imagine Rozier was drafter as a backup play to eventually replace Bradley if such a trade ends up going through.

    • @pete3198
      @pete3198 9 років тому

      Peter H I think you'll find that by the time we reach trade deadline this year, our backcourt rotation will be Thomas, Smart, Rozier, Hunter and (maybe) Young. That rotation has a good balance between offense and defence, plus a good balance between shooting (Thomas, Hunter, Young) and driving (Shomas, Smart, Rozier).

    • @chefrev580

      Jones was the PG, Terry was really the combo guard. We needed Terry more for offensive scoring due to really having only 4 scoring options this year.

    • @TTTWILL
      @TTTWILL  9 років тому

      Future Celtics Owner Yes, his assist numbers did improve slightly after Jones' dismissal.. but seriously, it cannot be understated how poor Louisville on offense. He was forced to be completely ball dominant the rest of the way and carried a relatively bad team (by Louisville standards) to an Elite 8.

      are you two fuckin high? Isaiah, turner, smart...didnt know they couldnt get into the paint but ok, he's good but portis would have been a much more useful pick

      To many red flags with Portis. Plus the C's don't need a slow nonathletic PF that doesn't play D. I know a lot people don't like this pick now, but wait until you see this kid getting to the line 15-20 times a night in a year or two. The kid has HUGE upside

      xreturnwthhonorx Umm, Portis plays D like there's no tomorrow. That said, I like the Rozier pick a lot.

      *****
      Weaknesses: Good, but not great athlete ... Fundamentally sound player at this stage but lacks explosiveness ... Still doesn't have great post moves and needs to work on his footwork around the basket ... While he's a great defender in space and out on the perimeter for a big man, he isn't the greatest post defender and isn't really a shot blocker ... His ceiling isn't as high as some of the other big man prospects at this point due to his lack of elite athleticism and lack of great footwork in the paint ... Still a raw player on both sides of the floor but is developing
