Mercedes-Benz’s newest fob was introduced with the latest generation E-Class sedan (speaking of pretty) but will soon come with other models. According to the PR materials, the design “echoes the clean lines of the brand’s vehicles”. Which begs the question, what about wheels?
Changing the batteries in your Mercedes key for A, B, C, CL, CLA, E, GL, GLA, GLK, S, SL, SLK, CLK, ML, Vito, Class Klasse. Changing is simple if you know how, this video shows how to replace the batteries in a key for a Mercedes Benz.

Just a sidenote; you had the battery the wrong way around the first time you opened - and it looked rather strange to me, but was quickly cleared up by you placing the battery the right way ;)

I changed in my 2017 E-class spare key (was 2,89 volts - did not work) Put in 3,2 volts new battery - still does not work. Have read somewhere that they may require re-programming after batterychange??

You put the battery upside down from the way you took it out
Yup. It was upside down when I pulled it out. The way I put it back together is correct.
@@KeyFobRob Look at your video again, I think you reinstalled it incorrectly. When you flipped the tray the batter was upright. You put the new battery downside. Unless you had already flipped this before you shot the video or you could be David Copperfield
David Copperfield - Lol! It was in wrong originally. The + side goes down on the tray as it indicates.

Benz has very easy battery replacement than ordinary car keys
I literally discovered how by just playing around with the fob one day.
In contrast, the previous generation fob was not remotely intuitive and an enigma at best.
Rob i have a 2014 E350 4matic, i want to upgrade my current keyfob to a more modern model mercedes keyfob, ive been doing tons of research on how-to's and where i can find one, not finding much luck. i dont care if i have to get it programmed, i just need an answer on how i can find one, any suggestions?

You have the older triangle style fob? If so, I don't believe there are any options to upgrade to a the modern style.
The new battery is put the wrong way round, or at least is facing the other way than it came out. Or am I hallucinating?
It was in upside down to begin with.
Ok then you should have re-recorded it with the correct position to start with, otherwise is confusing
I agree. Maybe somebody is diagnosing a no crank no start condition on their Mercedes and this might direct them the wrong way

@@KeyFobRob But this one is for older version of key. I will search more and if I won't find it then I will buy something like shell cover, because I have asked at my local dealership and they want $80 for this little plastic piece. No way.

Can this key be used for a 2017 c class.?
If you have the same style fob, then yes
When I was at the dealer I bought an extra battery which turned out to be a CR2025. But when I went to replace it, the CR2032 was what he had put in. Now I have 4 worthless CR2025 batteries and no extras for the FOB & Valet key!
The 2025 and 2032 are generally interchangeable. The 2025 is a tad slimmer and won't last as long but you can likely still use them in this fob

I changed the battery and it works for 2-3 days and I have to change it again. Definitely cannot be a problem with the battery. Is it a problem with the key?? Please let me know
Same thing just happened to me. Plus I never received a message on my dashboard saying the battery was low. And the vehicle is only 5 months old. Did you figure out what was wrong with yours?
