Can't help but find it amusing that Welonz every so often talks about how viewers mistake her voice for a little boy, then goes on to mistake a young woman (Robber Weasel) for a little boy
Also called Youngest of the Black Rabbit Brotherhood a boy, but to be fair it is the same voice actor!
To be fair it's pretty easy to make that mistake, at least with the young black rabbit they give you signs such as her hitting on the MC prior to the fight.

Yeah, that thing is kinda nutty. I hope she put a Motivity Crank and a fistful of upgrades onto it.
I'm just 10 minutes into the video so maybe you read the description or figure it out later on (who cares, something something engagement), but the crappy "dodge" fable art is actually super strong. You're supposed to dodge towards the incoming attack and then attack or strong attack or somethting, I dont recall, for a special superstrong attack. That, followed up by the other fable art deals a TON of damage to the point of being able to kill one of the hardest bosses later in like 30 seconds.
I ended up buying the game after watching your playthrough and now I'm further in than the let's play haha.
She actually finished the game a couple days ago, but videos are being uploaded once a day :)

I don't think the game is necessarily trying to suggest that lying specifically makes you more human. I think it's more just being used to show that P, uniquely among puppets, has the ability to approach life subjectively, and isn't bound like other puppets to the most simple and literal responses to these questions or circumstances. The fact that most of them boil down to truth versus lies is probably just to keep with the general theme of the source material, and P is meant to be a kind protagonist so that plays out with him behaving in a kind way.
It also explores other sides of humanity that have less to do with outward interactions. P can also gain humanity through listening to music, like maybe he is forming an emotional connection to a song, or learning to appreciate art in general. Or when he prays at the statue. It could be the somber acknowledgement of those who lost their lives, or a more literal idea of a recognition of a higher power that brings him closer to understanding something fundamental about what it is to be human.
You can gain humanity from telling the truth actually in some rare cases.
Later on in Alidoro's quest there is a choice that is the truth but gives you humanity,personally i dont think you should play by maximizing "humanity" if you play just by doing "good" choices you should have more than enough at the end.
@@Strix2031 Yeah, same. There are some that I just won't do no matter what. Telling Simon he has found hope of a cure is one. Also the late game choice with Eugenie. There might be others that are slipping my mind.
That glaive's 2nd fable art is so good, that distance traveled is huge
She could Motivity Crank the glaive and use it as a backup weapon, but she probably is best sticking with the Holy Sword.

26:52 The sad thing is, many (even most) players just see 'hey a monster' and attack him before he can even speak, killing him. If he asked to be killed, I'd kill him. But he didn't so Welonz, I think you made the right choice there...
Recharge is honestly goated when just exploring. Its not amazing during boss fights but it can certainly help.
Ooh the Weasel, she is a tricky fight for most. Well done! She hits hard, is fast and aggressive. A fun mini-boss fight.

I thought the glaive looked good. Especially in close quarters it seemed to hit walls less than the holy sword. Nothing wrong with preferring a single weapon.

56:48 I think the humanity system isn't about compassion, at the core. It's about letting P listen to his heart. He just happens to be a compassionate person, which is why a lot of the humanity gaining options happen to be compassionate.
The cases where the humanity+ options aren't necessarily great are particularly telling. 1) Lying to the boss weapon seller about where to go. Geppetto had told P to not tell strangers (especially Stalkers and alchemists) about the hotel. P desperately wants to be a good boy to his father... He would rather send a stranger, who is potentially innocent, to a dangerous place, than to disobey his father.
2) Telling Antonia that you can see the resemblance between her and the portrait. I mean sure, she looks older, but you can absolutely tell it's the same person. The other option here is "There is nothing left" and that's just not true.

Lying to Geppetto that he's a trustworthy father. P really WANTS this to be the case. He's lying to *himself*.
4) Lying to Venigni about the Grand Covenant stuff. This could be passionate, like sparing Venigni the harsh truth. Or it could be another example of P in denial. Or P might just be unsure if he can trust Romeo, and he wants to talk to Geppetto before concluding.
5) Lying to Simon after beating him. At this point, P knows Simon can read minds, but he still tells him that Sophia is free and safe. This isn't compassion; this is poetic justice. If Simon couldn't read minds, this could have been a kindness to him, telling him that someone he's in love with is safe. But Simon can read minds. He could hear Sophia crying out the entire time, yet kept her there. Thus lying to him is "I wish I could've been kinder to you, but you brought this on yourself." It's also defiance as in "she doesn't belong to you. You have no right over her, not even over the truth of her fate."
