But they won't bc there's too many high ranking govt officials or rich and powerful ppl that belong to this church. And that was allll by design by Hubbard to be able to operate unscathed and out in the open. Its a religion you are allowed to say you eat babies and the court is not allowed to stop you from appearing to eat babies without actually eating babies.
Kudos to 60 minutes Australia for ALWAYS having the guts to speak out against this horrible human trafficking cult. When other news organizations wouldn't do these stories, you were and still are. Bravo!
Unlike us in the U.S, such tripe is recognized as a scam masquerading as a religion and banned in Greece, Australia, it's been indicted in Spain, the Swedes have denounced it, and *even Russia* restricts it's activities.
I think it’s good that our cousins across the globe can cover this story since the US media is so intimidated by Scientology. The amount of money & power this organization wields is deeply disturbing
i agree because the religion itself appears to be very secret. Unless of course, you consider physical violence, sexual violence, mental abuse, and emotional abuse against women and children to be a religion. Otherwise once never hears of any other practices coming from scientology.
Right? I think their "leader" or whatever he's called has been covering up murdering his wife for several years. Apparently she disappeared some time ago, and there's no proof of life (ie bank accounts, credit cards, etc).
@bulrich610 I thought so but had hoped this organization wasn't being allowed to pay people off. Kudos to the brave souls who refuse to allow Scientology to give them "hush money!" I hope they continue spreading the word despite the harassment and threats they receive. I also hope they take them to court and hold them criminally responsible for terrorism (hostage taking and keeping!), child abuse; stalking and more!

Lol. Islam has the death penalty for those that leave the religion and try to get others to leave too. Scientology is so tiny that we should focus on the bigger religions instead.
I am so impressed with 60 minutes and Australians in general. Australian journalists will not be browbushed and relent to threats from this cult. North American journalists need to take note!
I found out I had Covid 19 from this show. I had no idea what was going on as it was vascular not respiratory. Thank You Allyssa Milano and 60 minutes Australia! No one in my pathetic country was talking the truth. I almost killed myself.
There's no fear on the part of the American journalist landscape. Part of what the problem is, is that the way the U.S. laws currently stand, the fact that the church, if that's what you want to call it, has its tax-exempt status, and the fact as was duly noted in this particular retrospective documentary is that the Church of Scientology is very well-endowed legally, financially, judicially and governmentaly as well. Sadly, because we as a nation we're stupid enough to give this dreaded organization its coveted tax-exempt status it literally barred our government for multiple many years from going in and doing an in-depth investigation into this group because of the U.S. laws explicitly mandating the "separation of church and state". In other words secular organizations cannot get their hands or their noses into the business dealings of a religious organization without an overwhelming reason why the secular needs to invade the sanctity of the private religious sector. Although I will admit that the case of the Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker incident was indeed an exception to this particular rule. And I think what made the exception in this particular case was the fact that Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker were selling rental spaces within the confines of a property that the church legitimately owned. But where they ran afoul of U.S. secular laws, was the fact that they were basically double and triple selling the same spaces to multiple parties at the same time. So that gets into a huge of Department of the Treasury, SEC, fiduciary misstep and miscalculation on the part of their group. As much as we hate to admit it for the most part for the time being the Church of Scientology's all of their egregious practices are technically within the confines of their own private religious status. For example they have been and they still do procure vast amounts of real-estate holdings across many different states. They will even go so far as to buy vacant buildings around and surrounding businesses and buildings that they are truly operating out of. However they will still go ahead and buy buildings and leave some of them vacant just to keep others from getting close to their station. Aaron Smith-Levin's Channel, "Growing Up in Scientology" even did a couple episodes on the Clearwater, Florida location which is in downtown Clearwater City it might be worth checking out so that you have a much larger understanding and picture of just the lengths that the organization goes to, to keep others at bay. On the other hand I do believe that in recent years they've been making a lot of very careless yet calculating mistakes not the least of which has been to openly transport and carry people across state lines to do things that are horrific. There is a case of a young man named Kendrew Kirconnell ua-cam.com/users/livem_UBvRdP0U4?feature=share . Mr. Kendrew and his wife were recently separated and held at quite a distance from one another purely and simply because the couple became pregnant. The organization did not like that at all. They separated husband and wife. It was on the premise that they needed to take his wife someplace and that she would just be gone for a short period of time. What they actually did to her in fact was they took her across state lines to some shady clinic where abortions are legal. There was already an appointment that was pre-planned, premeditated and pre-scheduled unbeknownst to her and or her husband. The wife was forced into an abortion. As for the husband he, was transported someplace completely different and as far as anybody knows he is currently being held against his will in one of the many real estate sites owned by the church. If anyone wants any further information on this matter I suggest that you go to the UA-cam channel which is called "Growing up in Scientology" and look into the information as it was presented by the owner of that channel a, Mr Aaron Smith-Levin. Aaron, recently did an episode on his show "Growing Up in Scientology" that talked about this case. I believe it is titled "Help........." with a picture of Kendrew holding an orange drink and his brother. To learn more about Kendrew and his wife's disappearance I suggest you watch Andrew Smith-Levin's channel, "Growing up in Scientology". That would be a good place for you to start.
@manuellubian5709 I'm well familiar with Aaron and the SPTV crew. You'll note, I said North American - not just the U.S. Scientology does not have religious status in Canada, yet is very rarely, if ever, reported on here in Canada. Also, in the U.S., Netflix caved to Scientology pressure. It's not just their constitutional rights, it's their influence and $$

Scientology has too much power in the US media for this kind of reporting. Thank you so much Sixty Minutes Australia, at least they haven't silenced you. Criminal organizations need to be held accountable, even if they're called a church.
I can't believe the US judges ordered the complainant to go back to the Scientology church to "talk it out" with them. That's not what you do when someone files a criminal case. Also not following up on a possible missing persons case or detainment for several years. We can't really trust the USA to do anything competent anymore. Thanks to Australia for having balls.
I unfortunately got involved in Scientology in Toronto in 1981. This was about 10 years before the beginning of the internet. I finally came to my senses and left in 1988. The internet and excellent shows like 60 Minutes Australia have been great and much appreciated for their exposure. I'm embarrassed and ashamed that I was ever involved in Scientology. I think it’s because of all of the litigation CoS issues and the US version doesn’t want to be tied up in it for decades. Australia may have different litigation rules like some of the other European countries that don’t allow some of the things the US courts allow. There is a 2 hr interview done for CBS years ago that has never seen the light of day because CoS found out about it and threatened years of lawsuits that they didn’t deem it worthwhile to air it

The fact that this criminal organization is even legally allowed to operate under the guise of religion without being shut down is the most absurd and disturbing of all
Here in America is where fringe pseudo-religions go to thrive. Hubbard just stumbled upon an insane loophole where if you construct your organization in a certain way then you can do whatever you want and the government can't tax you.
It is and always has been illegitimate for a CHILD to sign any form of contract. Well done 60 minutes. You can always count on Scientology to make threats.
I'm pretty sure you could dismantle most of the organization by making it so that a contract cannot last longer than 100 years. Each Scientologist signs a billion year contract, after you die and leave your body you get 10 years of freedom as a spirit and then you are expected to instantly join Scientology when you reincarnate. They legitimately expect baby you to tell your parents that you want to join Scientology when you reach your next life 😂. I'm honestly surprised that they haven't started approaching young children or parents with young children and telling those parents that their kid is The reincarnation of a Scientologist and that they legally have to join Scientology because of the contract. Any sane parent would laugh the scientologists out of the building and then when they realize that the scientologists isn't joking they would get rightfully pissed. The billion year contract is unenforceable lol. Even if reincarnation is a thing you have no guarantee that you're going to reincarnate as a human and no guarantee that you're going to remember your past life. I believe that one of the tenants of Scientology is that being a Scientologist will allow you to remember your past life or some bullshit like that. I'm honestly surprised that they haven't grabbed some random kid and declared him the new L. Ron Hubbard, but then again David miscavige is having too much fun running his little dictatorship.
Scientologist believe that through Auditing and various other Scientology practices that they literally will not be able get sick. They believe that sickness is caused by thetans in the body and that through Auditing they can Purge the thetans and the illness. Scientologists are not allowed to go to the doctor and if they do go to the doctor it's a Scientology approved one. There have been multiple times where members got cancer and the doctor that they go to lies to them and tells them that they will be fine... They won't be fine, they have cancer. At least that's the way it used to be in the past, they claim that their members are allowed to seek medical attention nowadays. Although recently a Scientologist died of untreated cancer so maybe it hasn't changed. Scientologists view psychology and the study of human behavior as evil. It undermines the tenants of Scientology and makes it easy to see through the bullshit. Anybody who has gone to a course on psychology will immediately see through the manipulative bulshit that Scientology is pulling. Anybody with a psych degree or who is a psychologist is declared a suppressive person and an enemy of Scientology. My degree is pretty useful as it makes me unrecruitable. Scientologists are not allowed to see a therapist or to seek help for their mental health issues. Scientology has promoted psychiatry-related conspiracy theories, including that psychiatrists were behind the Yugoslav Wars and that September 11 was caused by psychiatrists. Scientologists are committed never to take psychiatric drugs and to reject psychology outright. It's so bad that the children of scientologists are terrified of therapists and believe them to be on par with goat and baby sacrificing Satan worshippers. They dedicated an entire museum to the evils of psychology. They do not believe in the concept of mental illness, they believe psychologist to be terrorists and torturers.

I'm in the North of England. When I attended Six Form College in the late Eighties. A lecturer warned the whole class about this organisation. He said they were nuts and it was a corrupt cult. He implored all of us to avoid any interaction with them, at the time they approached people on the streets of Manchester trying to get them to fill in a test or questionnaire type thing. He said it was a trap, and compared it to grooming. He was wise man for sure. Interestingly, he had a PHD in Criminology.

An an Australian .. we don’t give a 💩 about Scientology . Scientology is not an Australian thing . Scientology is an American cult. In saying that, we do have some people here that are involved but, they are basically situated in America ie- actors and the elite like the packers that are lost .

Yay Tara and these brave people. You are so correct in trying to show light where darkness lives. I really appreciate all these genuine people are accomplishing by going public.
If you tax them then you have to give them representation. That would mean that every Church would have their own congressman and senator. Pick one. Give them taxation with representation or don't tax them at all and let them represent themselves. This is why there is a separation between church and state.
@@girlcheck Scientologists can run for office (and vote!), as can any person in a religious organization - tax-exempt or not. We have had rabbis, priests and pastors in political office in America. Taxation with representation first referred to the colonists not being allowed in parliament and having to pay taxes. It later was attributed to people of color and sex who were taxed and not allowed to vote or run for office. In America our separation between church and state means you can believe in whatever dumb thing you want - and you will not be forced to abandon those beliefs by the state. And the government can't favor one religion over another. With that said, religions don't get tax exempt status just because they are a religion - like other non-profits, religious institutions are not taxed because these institutions give support to the the community, which could not survive purely on private support. Scientology can not prove they have significantly helped the community + and have just made L Ron + Davey very rich.
@@girlcheck that may be true but this cult is not a church. "Churches" do not hold people against their will & force them to sign billion-year contracts.
I hope that, someday, a law enforcement agency will realize that Scientology needs to be thoroughly investigated for its massive violations of the rights of its members. Just the fact that Scientology would enter into a contract with an 8-year-old that subjects children to illegal labor practices violates a child's constitutional rights.
The problem is that the CIA is literally in bed with them and have been since the very beginning. Sounds crazy I know but it’s true. Hubbard comes very close to admitting this himself. Understanding this helps it make sense as to why nobody is doing anything. In other countries, I’m not sure why they would let this continue. But it’s all connected.

My mum gave me a shock a few years ago and told me that our neighbour when I was a child was part of the scientology cult but that they were no longer members. They had a daughter my age who was my best friend. I went over and over times that I remember spending together and even though my memory is often marveled by people in my life I couldn't remember anything. After we moved we still saw them every year. I caught up with the older sister of my friend years later and nothing she said indicated that she was a scientology member. I didn't even know there was scientology in New Zealand, which in hindsight was very naive but I was still a child.
This makes me SO happy! Thank you 60 Minutes Australia for exposing this hideous operation. Well done! Come on FBI, where are you, in Scientology's pockets? 😡
Thank you for doing this. Very well done! If I may suggest a follow up: take a close look at the children in Scientology, beginning with the Scientology belief that THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A CHILD. A child is an eternal being (Thetan) that happens to be in a small body. Think very carefully about what that means. Then start asking questions about: • The children of the Cadet Org • The children in the "regular" SeaOrg • Children being audited by adults • Children in the SeaOrg auditing adults • Children used as volonteers under slave labor conditions • Inappropriate relationships between adults and underaged children • The covering up of repeat child predation And so on, and so on. The story of the children of Scientology is the most underreported one. Telling their story is essential and long overdue. Edit: Thank you for making the interview with Jenna Miscavige Hill available! In that interview we get a glimpse of her life in the Cadet Org (at the Castill Canyon School - aka the Ranch). It's a good start!
ABSOLUTELY these are the stories that interest me the most. There is a huge amount of abuse and trafficking going on all in the guise of "religion". Other religions would stone and decapitate such criminals.

By their Constitution Turkey (sorry, don't have the extra characters to spell it properly) is considered secular state. But their leader and the media in his pocket... that's a story for another day...
I really don’t know which is the worst; the behaviour and abuse of the so called church against children, adult and senior members, the extent that members have to “escape” in order to simply leave, the repercussions on former members simply exercising their fundamental right to leave, that the authorities allow this behaviour - now on record - to continue unchallenged or the fact that it is funded and allowed to continue by taxpayers. It beggars belief and that is an outright tragedy.
They are right here but since so many people are from other countries they don’t have enough people to vote to make much of a difference. But every thing they are saying is true. They were gaslighted then gaslighting the public regarding COVID 19. Shameful conduct from JOURNALISTS SCIENTISTS POLITICIANS MEDICAL COMMUNITY

I thinks thats a typical tactic of organisations such as this. They cloak and recruit in another guise or deceive under a crusade against "societies ills" or fearmongering about the apocalypse etc. Also "self improvement "
Come to think of it, a lot of organisations do that. Including mainstream. I'm naturally wary of any claim to have all the "awnsers" . To blindly follow a so called charismatic figure or set of "ideas", that declares they right and everyone else is wrong or a wrong un. I think they often prey on fear and vulnerabilities in reality, and are controlling, manipulative and exploitative.
@@GamerNate30you make a great point! If you didn’t know much about Scientology you wouldn’t have left. People like taking personality tests, we do them online all the friggin time. Kinda like getting a free tarot reading. It’s just harmless fun (Or is it?). So their tactic is actually way smarter than approaching someone about say… saving their eternal soul. It’s the whole ‘boil the frog slowly” technique. And it works. But now they have a terrible reputation and that also works. To keep people away!

Yay Tara and these brave people. You are so correct in trying to show light where darkness lives. I really appreciate all these genuine people are accomplishing by going public.
The fact that they are tax exempt is insane

Ever asked yourself Why? It's called usury - they're all in on it.

I went over and over times that I remember spending together and even though my memory is often marveled by people in my life I couldn't remember anything.
Then start asking questions about:
• The children of the Cadet Org
• The children in the "regular" SeaOrg
• Children being audited by adults
• Children in the SeaOrg auditing adults
• Children used as volonteers under slave labor conditions
• Inappropriate relationships between adults and underaged children
• The covering up of repeat child predation
And so on, and so on.

@@kellykerr5225I wish I understood your words better about voting and people from other countries…I do think you feel unsafe and I’m horrified for you.
@@girlcheck100% I was totally thinking the same thing
@@girlcheck True, but it's a good thing they didn't learn management from the other one.
They burn Waco down to the ground, but this place gets a pass. EVIL
Only bc the people behind this cult and all the financial investors from actors to corrupt police and politicians!
Terrorism, child abuse, protecting a criminal, threatening people not to report a crime, stalking, keeping someone against their will, and a slew of other distinct cult actions... yet nothing is done against their crimes. Just goes to show that money and power control everything... even people's rights and even justice.
You’re right about that!!!
Scientologists in federal higher ranks. That’s why.
The fact that there are so many people being kept AGAINST their will and litterally can't chose to leave and the goverment is NOT doing anything to free these people is CRAZY !!
It's called corruption 🔥
@@OneCatShortOfCrazyRemember what happened at Waco, thats probably why the government is out to lunch on this.
Great work by the 60 minutes team and the brave people standing up to this malignant organisation.
Thank you, Australia, for reporting on something that the US media is too chicken to report.
Actress Leah Remini did and entire series on A&E exposing the church of scientology in 2016..
And Aaron Smith-Levin has a channel called, _Growing_ _Up_ _in_ _Scientology_ where he's exposing them.
@@Anna-Rose- I follow him. And he complains about the US media as well.
I don't understand how they're always escaping. So they live in some commune? They don't have their own homes? If adults join, do they sell their homes and move to a commune? It's not very well explained to those who aren't familiar with this madness.
Thank you 60 Minutes for covering this story.
I can only imagine the horror of abuse, and healing from the trauma the survivors are dealing with to this day. 😢😱🤬
Look up Leah Remini, she shares a lot of good info and also wants to know where Shelly is since they were friends. She was on Joe Rogan as well and mentioned some interesting stuff about their rankings and what they mean and who can get away with what.
Disgusting, vile, absolutely horrifying and incomprehensible and beyond perplexed why this organization has not been shut down. Who's getting paid to keep this evil alive? Everyone knows now what they do!!!!
They put people in what they call the hole and starve them and beat them . Sometimes they never get out ..
My thoughts exactly !!!! It’s unbelievable
It’s absolutely disgusting that this is possible without any consequences at all…. human trafficking at it’s finest, if you ask me!!
and all politicians are guilty too, everybody knows but do nothing, guilty all of them
@@Gamepakpolitics has nothing to do with it you can freely walk away from your party don’t have to work childern so young are not forced labor & your not forced to vote
AND IT IS EMBARRASSING THAT A LOT OR SOME FAMOUS ACTORS ARE A PART OF THIS CULT!!!!🤡🤡🤬🤬🤯🤯😱😱💔💔😳😳😬😬🙄🙄🤢🤢🤮🤮 UTTERLY RIDICULOUS AND DISGUSTING!
@@teresarene1 Their politicians change and hire the judges. Judges in the US aren't exactly politically neutral. These judges refuse to see a child can't sign contracts. It is political and politics has to do with it. Oh and money of course...
Go for it 60 Minutes ! Good on you .
60 minutes Australia is the best show ever. Thank you for your incredible stories. This is truly a horrific one and living in Sweden it's hard for me to understand how this organisation is allowed to even exist. They are not belivers, they are criminals, rapists, childabusers and monsters.
Tara Brown has a solid history of great reporting.
Here to in The Nederlands, is hard to understand, that for so long, the USA allow this cult.
I avidly agree with your opinion. Many years ago, someone gave me the books that are mentioned here. I had no idea what they or this cult was. I feel that my belief and personal relationship with Jesus Christ, whom I consider to be our Savior, continued to impress me away from ever reading them. hey ended up in the dumpster before I ever knew anything about this cult. Due to awful Tom Cruise I became more aware of their evil.
@@thereturnofthemacnice spin. The father of those kids had already kidnapped them. The mother was trying to get them back. The news crew were documenting these kids' rescue from Beirut back to their home in Australia. They all got arrested and that became the story, not the original kidnapping. Way to side with the criminals and vilify the ones rescuing those kids.
