    It’s a bittersweet truth: the very best of police detective work is likely to be born out of the very worst of mankind. It’s certainly the case when it comes to the investigation into the death of Cecilia Haddad. She was a young Brazilian woman who’d been living in Australia, working as a mining executive, for a number of years.
    In 2018 she was murdered by a jealous ex-boyfriend, Marcelo Santoro. He was also from Brazil and it's where he fled to immediately after killing Cecilia. Santoro might have thought by escaping Australia he'd gotten away with his terrible crime, but he was wrong. On assignment for 60 MINUTES, Nine’s Christine Ahern reports that Santoro didn’t count on the determination of New South Wales police officers to bring him to justice.

      That’s great when people are too afraid to dispense justice that they joyfully count on the criminals themselves to do it due to the inhumane living conditions they force the criminals to endure. That makes us better people than if we stood up to defend the concept of justice for the public and provided humane living conditions for the incarcerated. 😂

      Usually, the word “terrorist” is applied to people who belong to organized groups with an ideological goal they all want to achieve.
      But patriarchal murderers (men who feel entitled to control, attack, murder their female girlfriends and spouses) I think could be seen as belonging to a larger ideological group.
      They are both stalkers and terrorists - the stalking is the behaviour, the terror one of the emotions felt by their victims.

      I had a stalker, an ugly israeli from a town modiin. amir forshmit. He made my life a nightmare, I ended up with a burnout and a mess. There were threats, blackmails, silent phonecalls, phonecalls all night night long, he showed me once that the bullets in his gun were real. He was a body guard, protecting israeli groups. We changed a house, he got my new address. It felt like walking in a grey cloud, danger around the corner. Back then I didn't know that was a criminal deed. I felt confused, scared and also sorry for him. He must have "loved me" so much. Now I know it had nothing to do with anything kind and loving, just an ugly jerk full of complexes who could not respect 'no'. Awful awful people, they are real thieves of joy.

He almost killed me. Police did not take stalking seriously at the time. I left the UK and went under the radar, living off grid on a boat in the Bahamas for about 3 years before returning. What makes any man think that he has the right to do this is beyond me. Cecilia didn't report him because she didn't want him to have a record. This should teach all other victims a lesson. “Just put a stop to it early.. don’t let it escalate.” You’d think these words from an officer who works solely on stalking cases would know- and fully understand that it’s rarely that simple for someone who’s in a relationship like that- or just being stalked by someone they don’t know- in fact that would be THAT much more difficult to try and do anything about the situation. You only have power over yourself and your actions- you can’t control the stalker and the only thing that ever helps in these situations is removing the stalker from the equation- ie put in jail/prison. And even then, they still pose a huge risk to the victim after they’re released. What a blatantly ignorant statement. That right there is why we still, to this day have such problems getting help from authorities because they think that we should be able to “nip it in the butt”, just like that. It’s never that simple. It’s very hard hearing that come out of someone’s mouth who’s sole responsibility is to eliminate these threats.

    Having volunteered for some time with a victims of violent crime unit, in joint with the police; I learned just how important it is to report any threatening or disturbing behavior to the authorities. One should also tell friends and family; they can help, watch, and remember. Too often, the situation escalates to violence, as it did in this poor girl's situation. I feel terrible for her family and friends, and for the couple who found her. The man who murdered her, doesn't deserve to be named. So many lives ruined or scarred; it's all so sad. The more they do the more they see they’re getting away with it. And we finally have stalking laws but you wouldn’t know it sadly. We had a friend in a similar situation and she would not do a thing about it. We weren't under any restraints like that. I got arrested for changing the locks on her doors without permission. But that was the tiny snowball that got things looking better. We helped her make many changes, but she made one huge mistake that we all said she should not do. She refused to get a new phone and new telephone number. And the jerk traced her, through the phone, to a new address. And the security I installed outside her home (without her knowledge) caught her killer coming and going, and it matched with the estimated time of death..... It just seems like all our work only resulted in a more solid police case. One thing different between the Brazilian punishment... In the USA, the JA only got 11 years. And will be out and walking around with two years off for 'good behavior'. This guy in Brazil? Probably will not survive prison there.... I’m surprised that the key she had was the type that could be cut. Usually apartment keys are security keys which means they cannot be reproduced. This is for safety reasons, and so the past tenants cannot come back into the apartments once they’ve moved out.

      @@carpediem4512 ABSOLUTELY not true. Security keys can I be cut at the locksmith where the key was made/purchased. It cannot be taken to any other locksmith and it cannot be reproduced because that key is only made and held at that locksmith.

      @@chelseasummers2365i wish u were right …but any key can be cut ….from specialists that have the right tools from the manufacturer . I myself was able to cut apartment keys for a sibling for the main door .

      @chelseasummers2365 16 днів тому

      @@carpediem4512 you are incorrect. A security key can only be taken to the locksmith that actually produce the key, and the only person that can take it there is a person who first set up the account and had the key made. The details I kept on record . No other locksmith can make a copy because that particular batch of keys was sold to that particular locksmith, and it’s all traceable so another locksmith cannot replicate the key because he hasn’t had the master set. That’s why locksmiths have certain security that they have to pass and abide by.

      @@bangladeshirealtor , then the key wasn’t a security key. Sometimes they’re also called bi lock keys. They do not look anything like a traditional key. They are larger and they have a different shape.

    I can't imagine finding someone dead. I feel for the woman who found her. Once it's over, keep it that way. The more you continue to see them, the more control they have over you. Get out and stay out. Don't answer calls or texts. Eventually the guy will move on to his next victim and leave you alone.

      Yes good advice. However people are weak and want somebody else to take control of the situation for them.
      I'm feel the same...as soon as bad behaviour rears its ugly head,🎉 kick it right up the arse. They might cry and carry on but stay steadfast and that way you stay alive.

    I'm truly disturbed and saddened by the heinous crime I just witnessed in that video. It's heartbreaking to think about the young woman who lost her life in such a senseless and cruel manner. My heart goes out to her and her loved ones as they grapple with this unimaginable tragedy.
    As for the perpetrator, his appearance may be unsettling, but it's his actions that are truly repulsive. No matter how he looks, the ugliness lies in the darkness of his soul and the brutality of his deeds. I hope justice is served swiftly for the sake of the victim and to ensure that such a dangerous individual is removed from society, preventing any further harm.
