  • This upgraded plane flew a fast 160 knots and super slow to only 8 knots in a single flight.
    This airplane is for sale. You can see the full video and the details in the website link below
    www.aerolifeav...
    It is rare to see these speeds in a single plane, especially at lower altitudes. There are nice upgrades in the plane to fly faster and slower. We also landed in 17-25 knot gusting crosswind.

    These Cardinal videos are addictive. Makes me want one. Would be my first choice among certified airplanes. I used to make fun of them.... lots of undeserved bad press had clouded my judgement. That said, if I ever own a plane it is more likely to be an experimental. Sonex High Wing top of that list. Similar to the Wittman Tailwind, but fully it's own design. Looks something like a..... Cardinal. 😊, except much smaller. Cardinal would no doubt be more comfortable, arguably better than the Skylane I used to rent. If it were in my budget, a B model, or even an A model would work remarkably well for what I have in mind.

      Thank you for another wonderful video. I last flew regularly over forty years ago. My license lapsed, and over the years life happened and when I had time I lacked the money, when I had the money I lacked the time. Soon both may be aligning and a 177 may fit my mission. When the time comes I may have a lot more questions.

    This is quickly becoming one of my favorite aviation channels. Looking to get my hands on a cardinal rg and making serious mods. That’s about two years away after I get my instrument rating.

      Appreciate your comment. Glad you are enjoying the channel. Cardinal RG is a really good IFR platform. Good choice

    I'm seriously impressed. Have numerous hours in an RG. No performance like that, but, a fun plane to fly. Great video !!

    L/D improvements. Not sure about the VGs on the vertical though. They will make the rudder more effective at those low speeds. On the edges of the dropped leading edges are called fences, not stall fences though. They discourage span-wise flow to help pump up the circulation in a better span load distribution.

    Yep, with a strong enough wind, even a a jet can go backwards. I did it once in a T-37. No GPS in that jet, but I pointed it into the wind toward the base (which had a TACAN), got dirty, and watched the DME increase.

    The STOL kit adds drag and typically slows top speeds, the speed mods help get it back.

      @aerolife1646  2 роки тому

      Could you share any specifics if you have on that? I haven't seen anything in the STCs about speed penalties.

      @@aerolife1646 Horton & Bush kits 1)increase wing area ,2) blunt the wing leading edge, 3) large VGs complete the drag Trifecta. Mine had Bush kit on when I bought it so I don't have before & after.

    WIth the 160kt ground speed, what was your indicated speed and TAS?

  • @user-eb9fh2mc6n
    @user-eb9fh2mc6n Місяць тому +1

    Ground speed is nice but it says nothing about air speed. So your video doesn't actually give true performance data.

  • @jacquelavalle8828
    @jacquelavalle8828 Місяць тому

    Your speed data is deceiving because you use ground speed instead of TAS. My 177B performs pretty much the same without all the “speed mods” except for the exhaust fairing.
