And it wasn't until 2019, 6 years later, that he was finally reunited with his wife! Most of us assumed it was never going to happen so during the reveal the community went CRAZY!!!!! Edit: funnily enough we thought it was never happening because Yasuo had a brother in his lore we also never expected to see(him being dead and all) but a year after Senna's release we got Yone as well!
I've seen comments from people saying Thresh was doing us all a favor in keeping Senna out of League bc of how annoying Senna was (is?) to fight against hehe.

i remember watching the Senna reveal trailer live and it was definitely the most hype thing i've seen the community collectively go crazy for. because, as you said, 6 years of hearing about her and finally, not only being able to see her rescued but be able to play her soon afterwards as well. she's still my top 2 supports because i love marksman but i hate the role.
18:22 Yeah, one of the big themes of the Sentinels of Light event was the parallel between Lucian and Viego. Basically, Lucian went to Shadow Isles to fight Thresh to avenge Senna and to let her rest in piece. He was ready to accept her death, and her return was a complete surprise for him. Viego, on the other hand, never managed to accept the death of his wife. When he was still alive he tried to resurrect her and in the process destroyed Blessed Isles and turned them into Shadow Isles. And even a thousand years later he still couldn't accept the death of Isolde so he unlished Ruination on the world to find shards of Isolde's soul and bring her back. Lucian and Viego were in the similar situation, but one chose to accept reality and move on, while the other was so possessive and egotistical he was willing to destroy the world to get what he wanted.
Fun fact: Lucian before Senna was released had many quotes about missing his wife and avenging her. Pretty much super depressed widower voice lines. After Senna's release, riot added new voice lines making him sound cheery, happy, and more alive.
The Ruined King game is an absolute masterpiece. Lots of incredible storytelling and character growth as the voice actors put in so much work. Would definitely recommend playing it!
For bookworms, I recommend the "Ruination" novel from Anthony Reynolds for a more in-depth lore about Viego and Camavor. The Shadow Isles has a lot of great stories behind it.
The funny thing about the Ruination novel is Veigo is the complete opposite of what every other riot ip says he is. Like lowkey bro was a good king cuz of his wife. It’s been a while since I read it but everyone loved her and he did whatever she told him so the people of Camavor weren’t suffering or anything. From every other bit of lore you’d think he was a terrible king but his downfall happened after Isolde was poisoned.

The only thing you missed out on, are Chapter recaps which complete the whole storyline, that wasn't shown in cinematics. Pretty sure that wasn’t technically her that did that but her magic that did it on its own. The magic she issues is literally the spirit of Ionia and is very much alive so once she was taken out of the picture it started to fight on its own and broke the crown for her.

tbh this "demacia is actually evil" is realy getting old. yes they are racist vs mages but considering the annie backstory, it at least has his reasons. if you got young kids, born with a power, who can burn your house to a crisp because they are sad or annoied, you need to find a solution to this problem. is it the best solution? sure it is not but demacia is also changing, as we see from the mageseeker story, where Lux becomes accepted as a mage and becomes the head of a city, where mages can find a home.
This event was so hype when it happened because we were going to meet the ruined king in the flesh finally (we have known about his existence since the game started back in 2009 because there is his sword as an item you can buy) so we were all so hyped for this huge lore drop, unfortunatley he wasnt what were expecting storywise it makes sense but were waiting something like mordekaiser to be the big bad boss of the shadow isles, but with time we accepted him, the problem is, that the event was a chance molete failure because riot messed up the lore so much, there were like 6 other chalpions that were recluted as sentinels that never had an appereance on any trailer and the events didnt even made sense because this was a shared event between all their games (loeague, the mobile version of league and the card version of league) but they all told different the same story so we ended up with a messed up storyline where we as players didnt know which was the "canon" one, aside from that a lot of character were written out of character and didnt make sense they act as they did,... Well to not bore you the thing is that this event wasnt as good as it could because riot for some reason didnt care enough about, which it is a mess because this was one of the big events the whole community was waiting for, and they dropped the ball so hard.
Medarda family is part of the Noxus empire but they are originally from the north coast of shurima (who was conquered by noxus a century ago in the lore). So even tho they are part of Noxus they are still proud of their Shuriman legacy and therefore have a lot of gold on them. (Ambessa probably spend more time at the capital of Noxus than in her own territory for politic games).
Viego's wife Isolde was a seamstress and she created Gwen, when she died her soul split into multiple fragments and one of them found its way to her beloved doll and brought her to life. Gwen wields a pure helpful hallowed mist and opposes Viego's harrowed black mist. The mist that Senna has is an in between that is unique to her that harms and helps, and it was because when she came out of Thresh's lantern she gained one of the fragments of Isoldes soul and to bring her back Viego had to bring all the fragments together.
The thing with Poppy is that since she's a Yordle, she's a couple hundred years old now and she made friend with one of legendary blacksmith. The blacksmith gave her the Hammer that only the one who's worthy enough can wield it and told her to go and find a hero worthy enough and give it to them. Throughout her journey, she wasn't be able to find anyone worthy enough, but she didn't realize that she is the hero worthy of the hammer since she's very humble and brave and kind. You can see it through her line "I'm no hero, just a Yordle with a hammer" that she is extremely humble
The Shadow Isle used to be called the Blessed Isle for its healing power, but by Viego trying to revive Isode, it created something far more sinister and destroyed the isle to become what we've seen here today, with Viego at the heart of it--figuratively and literally
Please watch also Opening ceremonies, they have insane shows, music videos, champion holograms and everything, I would suggest 2019 Worlds Opening ceremony, It was insane.
There are really helpful videos of Akshan explaining the whole ruination and sentinels in comic book form. It would have been helpful to watch in between videos. Highly recommended.
I'd love for them to go through many cinematics too, but filming for time is a factor and sometimes videos from the playlist are dropped. Everything from the Akshan recaps to the internal Ruined King cinematics (screenshot/datamined since they didn't exist anywhere separate from the game) were included on theis playlist and they were made aware of their existence. It's enough to get the gist of what happened during the Ruination event and they enjoyed their experience watching this set. They can always revisit more later down the line this way too.
Man I love Poppys lore, she has literally been looking for the "hero" that will wield the hammer shes using for hundreds of years. Except it's clear that she is that hero but she doesn't realize it.
Couple key things here: The blade Viego is holding is literally called the Blade of Ruined King. It's been in the game forever and we finally found out who the king was years after the item was made. Part of Viego's position, he went to the Blessed (Shadow) Isles to save Isolde. He was tricked by Thresh to use darker powers and the result was the Black Mist... a lethal cloud that slowly kills you and creates undead out of anyone killed by it or in it. The story and Ruined King game are great, but the event made a LOT of people mad in it's execution. It felt purely like they were forcing skins out of certain champs, like Olaf, and ignoring those on the Shadow Isles who have been fighting against Viego and the Black Mist for thousands of years, specifically Maokai and Yorick were ignored. Lastly, while Viego controls the Black Mist, and a lot of undead because of it.. he is absolutely nothing compared to the monster that is Mordekaiser. Viego dabbles in what Mordekaiser has mastered, controlled, and built on.
Only to clarify, 'Blade of the Ruined King', has been an item in League for a while - it was pretty cool to finally meet the Ruined King, Viego, when League hosted the Ruination event. In the Ruination novel, this same blade was given the name, "Soulrender/Sanctity" by ancient Camavorans. A little on the nose, since it was enchanted with the abilities to tear souls apart.

Gwen was created by Viegos wife: Isolde! That's why he used Senna and Gwen to get Isolde back, because Gwen has a bit of Isolde in her because she is Isolde's creation, she also uses Isolde's scissor and needles as weapons ingame! When Isolde died, Viego tried to bring her back through the shadow isles, which was at that point not called shadow isles but Blessed Isles. By doing this, Viego revived Isolde as a ghost isch, and she killed him. That's how he became what he is now. The shadow Isles consumed Isolde, and I guess that's how she became a part of Senna, which is also why he used her along with Gwen to bring her soul back!
This was the most hype lore update they ever did for the game (whether the execution of it all was underwhelming for the community..that's another story). They might not have made a movie about the ruination, but they actually released a novel. Funny how you said Shyvana looked like Evelynn, as she's the demon who killed Vayne's family
Not so fun fact, Senna’s 28:56 cannon is made from the souls of several sentinels of light that thresh captured the souls of wanting what little life they had left to have some meaning in pushing back the mist they sacrificed themselves to arm Senna.
So, Between the Ruination video and Absolution we had a whole season of event things about this war against viego, explaining how every one of these champions was corrupted or joined the sentinels. There was the Gwen champion trailer showing creator, the Viego's Queen. Also we had 3 videos explaining the whole event, since the fall of the Blessed isles to why the shirtless guy shoot Izoldi's soul in the end to defeat Viego. If you don't think that's enough, They launched a WHOLE BOOK telling about the ruination, why Izoldi died, the original story of each of the shadow isles champions, why tresh is such a bad person and all of that.

You guys should look up how Poppy used to look before they updated her Champion Splash art and look lol. It's the stuff of nightmares. Karma gets so little recognition but she is incredibly important to Ionia. Karma itself is the spirit of Ionia and it reincarnates within mortal bodies sort of like the Avatar. Karma communes with her past lives and the spirit within her to lead her people. She is seen as a political counterpart to Irelia. Ionian's are pacifists (very much a Buddhist society) but Irelia as a young girl sparked the rebellion against Noxus by fighting in the frontlines with her blade dance. Karma wants to act to protect the land but politically she is aligned with the pacificists. Idk if it has been retconned yet but there was a moment where Karma sparked controversy for attacking an Noxian war ship while rebelling against her council and the advice of her past lives. She nuked it without much effort. She holds enough magic power to have possibly ended the war before it began but she is in a tricky spot as the spiritual symbol and leader of Ionia and its traditions. The reason why Karma was able to hold back Viego's corruption is because the spirit of Ionia was protecting her.
Watching the Necrit MMO videos help with the overarching story and lore of the whole world ❤ hope yall react to those at some point too. He is genuinely entertaining as well.

Mel and Ambessa appear to be from the Shuriman part of Noxus, an area taken over by them and their empire. They mix their cultures wherever they go, so it makes sense for them to use Shuriman's gold along with the other elements of Noxus, which is why Mel looks much more similar to Shurima than Noxus, because she rejected that side of her. Also, Ambessa will become a champion soon, be prepared to react to the new content made for her! lol

I know this is late, and old, and no one will probably see it, but... I noticed there are quite a few black people in Noxus too. Noxus us a nation of conquest. They go out and take over other nations assimilating them into their own. So my theory is that Noxus was possibly originally a nation where many dark skinned people were from or (if Riot decided to give them a place to be from at all they were one of the ones assimilated. I'm black so I was kind of hoping there would be a place rather than just being darker toned people scattered about and from nowhere. I wouldn't hold my breath, though.
Look up Senna champion theme. That's a concept art video for the character design with her own theme music which is 🔥 Almost all of the league characters have their own champion theme music and most of them are lit af. They would also make some very good reaction video if you're into music and concept arts. Some of the best themes are Pantheon, Jhin, Fiddlesticks, Renata Glasc, Volibear, Camille, Kindred, Aphelios, Nilah.
Dont mix the storyline of the ruined king (miss fortune, illaoi, Yasuo pyke braum and ahri) with ruination (sentinels of light). The first one is a prequel to the ruination. Viego isn't back until ruination. The ruined king has some cinematics with the blessed isles story. Like how viego unleashed the black mist

I forget what it’s called but it’s a video introducing Viego to the Wild Rift game, ask your guides im sure they should know. Also, Viego’s wife loved him but she loved the way he was before not what he has become. He caused so much death and despair that she thinks it would be best if Viego moves on and let’s her go, he is not the man he once was when she fell in love with him.

Medarda family is part of the Noxus empire but they are originally from the north coast of shurima (who was conquered by noxus a century ago in the lore). So even tho they are part of Noxus they are still proud of their Shuriman legacy and therefore have a lot of gold on them. (Ambessa probably spend more time at the capital of Noxus than in her own territory for politic games).
Viego's wife Isolde was a seamstress and she created Gwen, when she died her soul split into multiple fragments and one of them found its way to her beloved doll and brought her to life. Gwen wields a pure helpful hallowed mist and opposes Viego's harrowed black mist. The mist that Senna has is an in between that is unique to her that harms and helps, and it was because when she came out of Thresh's lantern she gained one of the fragments of Isoldes soul and to bring her back Viego had to bring all the fragments together.
The thing with Poppy is that since she's a Yordle, she's a couple hundred years old now and she made friend with one of legendary blacksmith. The blacksmith gave her the Hammer that only the one who's worthy enough can wield it and told her to go and find a hero worthy enough and give it to them. Throughout her journey, she wasn't be able to find anyone worthy enough, but she didn't realize that she is the hero worthy of the hammer since she's very humble and brave and kind. You can see it through her line "I'm no hero, just a Yordle with a hammer" that she is extremely humble

The Shadow Isle used to be called the Blessed Isle for its healing power, but by Viego trying to revive Isode, it created something far more sinister and destroyed the isle to become what we've seen here today, with Viego at the heart of it--figuratively and literally

I'd love for them to go through many cinematics too, but filming for time is a factor and sometimes videos from the playlist are dropped. Everything from the Akshan recaps to the internal Ruined King cinematics (screenshot/datamined since they didn't exist anywhere separate from the game) were included on theis playlist and they were made aware of their existence.
It's enough to get the gist of what happened during the Ruination event and they enjoyed their experience watching this set. They can always revisit more later down the line this way too.
Man I love Poppys lore, she has literally been looking for the "hero" that will wield the hammer shes using for hundreds of years. Except it's clear that she is that hero but she doesn't realize it.

Couple key things here: The blade Viego is holding is literally called the Blade of Ruined King. It's been in the game forever and we finally found out who the king was years after the item was made. Part of Viego's position, he went to the Blessed (Shadow) Isles to save Isolde. He was tricked by Thresh to use darker powers and the result was the Black Mist... a lethal cloud that slowly kills you and creates undead out of anyone killed by it or in it. The story and Ruined King game are great, but the event made a LOT of people mad in it's execution. It felt purely like they were forcing skins out of certain champs, like Olaf, and ignoring those on the Shadow Isles who have been fighting against Viego and the Black Mist for thousands of years, specifically Maokai and Yorick were ignored. Lastly, while Viego controls the Black Mist, and a lot of undead because of it.. he is absolutely nothing compared to the monster that is Mordekaiser. Viego dabbles in what Mordekaiser has mastered, controlled, and built on.
Only to clarify, 'Blade of the Ruined King', has been an item in League for a while - it was pretty cool to finally meet the Ruined King, Viego, when League hosted the Ruination event.
In the Ruination novel, this same blade was given the name, "Soulrender/Sanctity" by ancient Camavorans. A little on the nose, since it was enchanted with the abilities to tear souls apart.

Gwen was created by Viegos wife: Isolde!
That's why he used Senna and Gwen to get Isolde back, because Gwen has a bit of Isolde in her because she is Isolde's creation, she also uses Isolde's scissor and needles as weapons ingame!
When Isolde died, Viego tried to bring her back through the shadow isles, which was at that point not called shadow isles but Blessed Isles.
By doing this, Viego revived Isolde as a ghost isch, and she killed him. That's how he became what he is now. The shadow Isles consumed Isolde, and I guess that's how she became a part of Senna, which is also why he used her along with Gwen to bring her soul back!
This was the most hype lore update they ever did for the game (whether the execution of it all was underwhelming for the community..that's another story). They might not have made a movie about the ruination, but they actually released a novel. Funny how you said Shyvana looked like Evelynn, as she's the demon who killed Vayne's family
Not so fun fact, Senna’s 28:56 cannon is made from the souls of several sentinels of light that thresh captured the souls of wanting what little life they had left to have some meaning in pushing back the mist they sacrificed themselves to arm Senna.

So, Between the Ruination video and Absolution we had a whole season of event things about this war against viego, explaining how every one of these champions was corrupted or joined the sentinels. There was the Gwen champion trailer showing creator, the Viego's Queen. Also we had 3 videos explaining the whole event, since the fall of the Blessed isles to why the shirtless guy shoot Izoldi's soul in the end to defeat Viego.
If you don't think that's enough, They launched a WHOLE BOOK telling about the ruination, why Izoldi died, the original story of each of the shadow isles champions, why tresh is such a bad person and all of that.

Karma gets so little recognition but she is incredibly important to Ionia. Karma itself is the spirit of Ionia and it reincarnates within mortal bodies sort of like the Avatar. Karma communes with her past lives and the spirit within her to lead her people. She is seen as a political counterpart to Irelia. Ionian's are pacifists (very much a Buddhist society) but Irelia as a young girl sparked the rebellion against Noxus by fighting in the frontlines with her blade dance.
Karma wants to act to protect the land but politically she is aligned with the pacificists. Idk if it has been retconned yet but there was a moment where Karma sparked controversy for attacking an Noxian war ship while rebelling against her council and the advice of her past lives. She nuked it without much effort. She holds enough magic power to have possibly ended the war before it began but she is in a tricky spot as the spiritual symbol and leader of Ionia and its traditions.
The reason why Karma was able to hold back Viego's corruption is because the spirit of Ionia was protecting her.
Watching the Necrit MMO videos help with the overarching story and lore of the whole world ❤ hope yall react to those at some point too. He is genuinely entertaining as well.

Mel and Ambessa appear to be from the Shuriman part of Noxus, an area taken over by them and their empire. They mix their cultures wherever they go, so it makes sense for them to use Shuriman's gold along with the other elements of Noxus, which is why Mel looks much more similar to Shurima than Noxus, because she rejected that side of her.
Also, Ambessa will become a champion soon, be prepared to react to the new content made for her! lol

I know this is late, and old, and no one will probably see it, but...
I noticed there are quite a few black people in Noxus too. Noxus us a nation of conquest. They go out and take over other nations assimilating them into their own. So my theory is that Noxus was possibly originally a nation where many dark skinned people were from or (if Riot decided to give them a place to be from at all they were one of the ones assimilated.
I'm black so I was kind of hoping there would be a place rather than just being darker toned people scattered about and from nowhere. I wouldn't hold my breath, though.

That's a concept art video for the character design with her own theme music which is 🔥 Almost all of the league characters have their own champion theme music and most of them are lit af. They would also make some very good reaction video if you're into music and concept arts. Some of the best themes are Pantheon, Jhin, Fiddlesticks, Renata Glasc, Volibear, Camille, Kindred, Aphelios, Nilah.

You guys missed a video that is very important to the ruinnation 😂 it’s where we see how the Ruinnation came to be and how viego became the ruined king. I forget what it’s called but it’s a video introducing Viego to the Wild Rift game, ask your guides im sure they should know.
Also, Viego’s wife loved him but she loved the way he was before not what he has become. He caused so much death and despair that she thinks it would be best if Viego moves on and let’s her go, he is not the man he once was when she fell in love with him.
