Oh, Man! I am tired and sweating just watching you go up there. I did this once, many years ago and it came as a real shock to the system. I had to get off and walk at some bit, I suspect up to the cattle grid, before getting back on. The idea of doing this and the rest of the Fred is traumatising! 😁😁 Haven't felt any great desire to go back, but it is an amazing climb.
🤣🤣. It's a bit of a brute, this one. For reasons unknown, people tend to believe that the other side is harder. It's longer, sure, and it creeps up on you, but the Seatoller side is just in-your-face cruel. Chapeau for taking it on!
Finally did this one today and oh boy it’s hard before the cattle grid like you said , I managed it as I parked at the bottom , then over honister down to Buttermere then right up newlands pass and back . Had the best mornings ride ever loved it will be back , honister west side for me is slightly harder than fleet moss , weather was perfect and not too hot but loads traffic couldn’t enjoy all the descents , they should have d done the Fred today lol , got some amazing photos .
Today would have been a much better day for the Fred - everyone got royally soaked at the weekend! It’s an interesting comparison with Fleet Moss; I’d never thought about it, but, yes, I’d say that’s about right - Fleet Moss is longer, but Honister is steeper…
@@WheelygoodCycling yeah you can tell they had been as there was many sis gels wraps & gas canisters out lol , enjoyed it and will be back one day
