We reckon we got it Nailed!!! Land Rover Defender Suspension Set Up and Coil Spring replacement.

  • We recently replaced our front coil spring suspension on our Land Rover Defender 130 that we are driving around the world.
    We made a short video of the install and took the opportunity to give you an explanation on our suspension system.
    We carry a Four Wheel Camper truck camper on the back of our Defender most of the time but we also like to remove the camper on occasion.
    We needed a suspension system to suit our Land Rover when the heavy camper is installed but also for when we drive with no camper.
    We think we have the perfect system to suit our overland journey around the world.
    Join us as we travel the world overland, exploring the cultures and traditions of all the countries we visit.
    In our Land Rover Defender camper which is our full time home we will take you rock climbing, hiking and exploring across all the continents on this planet.

    Hey guys
    We've had a few comments concerning the cracked shock absorber bracket.
    That's footage from a few years ago I used to highlight the importance of regular inspections 😉
    It was rewelded and reinforced in Georgia in 2018 as soon as we found the issue.
    Thanks for watching 🙏

    Since the late 90s I’ve been using Old Man Emu shocks in my Land Rovers. Great, great products. However, since 2019 or so it has been very difficult to get them in Puerto Rico. I don’t know if the problem is COVID-19 related or the distribution channels. I bough Terra Firma non-adjustable shocks and coil springs for the first time and I have zero complaints. But my preference is OME. Fantastic Australian products.

    I saw on IG that you guys are in Penghu atm, so once you guys head back to mainland TW just head to any mountainous regions and you could find special places where it's the *_whole_* mountain range(not just a small field/woods) glowing with fireflies, should make for a spectacular vid.

    • @leighdearle5965
      @leighdearle5965 3 роки тому

      The rear spring popped out due to the retention strap slipping.
      In normal circumstances I'd fit upper relocation cones but we cannot have the upper spring dislocating at all as it will pull the air connection from the bags.
      That's why we run the retention straps.

    • @leighdearle5965
      @leighdearle5965 3 роки тому +1

      The straps are actually in ok condition.
      The fault is mine as I replaced a snapped one a while back and installed it with too much length.

    What was happening with the popping out suspension last video

    • @leighdearle5965
      @leighdearle5965 3 роки тому +5

      The retention straps that limit that from happening were loose.
      After I fixed them to the correct length it didn't happen again.
      We need the straps to avoid this happening and pulling the air connection from the top of the airbags.
      Without airbags I'd have upper relocation cones to guide the springs back into the housing.

      @@taoforadacasinha9422 that would be similar to having relocation cones and could definitely work to ensure the upper spring returns to the housing but our issue is the airbags.
