I have had this bottle for over 6 months and I still have about 1/3 of the bottle left. To me this is VERY cost effective. I use it to clean veggies, my counters, and sometimes my windows regularly.
Note: We are basically blanching the greens. Only cook them long enough to wilt them and NO LONGER. This is very important as we do not want to cook the flavor and nutrients out the greens, just make them smaller.
Ingredients
Greens of choice: Collards, kale, turnip, or mustard
onions
garlic
smoked turkey or ham
To Cook:
When you are ready to cook thaw the greens in the fridge overnight or on a bowl with cold water. Add then to a pot and simmer with a little chicken broth until the greens are cooked. Season with preferred spices. I typically use chicken bouillon, touch of sugar, apple cider vinegar, crushed red pepper flakes, and Creole seasoning.
To make in the instant pot, thaw the greens enough to be able to get them out the bag. Add to the instant pot with 1 cup chicken broth and spices. Pressure cook for 45 min ( or less, if using mustard or turnip greens 15 min should be enough) . Release the pressure and adjust seasoning if needed.

I cook my greens completely and freeze them. I take them out of the freezer the night before thanksgiving and warm them the morning of. They are delicious all of the seasonings and the smoked neck bones has settled into the greens.
Great idea!
Me as well I can cook them completely freeze several bags. My daughters and I cut up several bushels of collard greens at one time as we eat a lot of them don’t want to fall and winter months. We go on a head wash, cut, season of real good and cook them down. We allow them to cool and then put them in gallon size freezer bags and take them out whenever you want greens for either Sunday dinners for Thanksgiving and Christmas. We sometimes have a bag left over for New Year’s as well. Since they were frozen when you take them out the morning of the day, you’re planning to use them and call them and then let them cook for about additional 30 minutes. When I tell you, they are so seasoned and delicious and tender. I hope you give that a try.
The only way to do it!
I love greens! I make a combo of kale, collards, turnip, spinach, and mustard greens. I season with either ham hocks or smoked turkey greens. I freeze quart bags of them and it makes a lot!
Love it!!
I agree with surfactant cleansing green. Years ago when I first starting cooking my sis in law taught me to wash them with Joy. We rinsed them well and no soap was left on the green. Thanks for sharing Camirra.
You most definitely can wash your greens in dish detergent or tide washing powder
Hey Carmmira, I seen someone on Facebook, washing their greens in a washing machine
I cut the bottom off a big size yogurt container also cut one side . It slips into the qrt bag easily ! Just spoon in take out the yogurt container, quick easy 👍
Great idea!! imma try that
I agree about the soap👍🏻😊 I've been doing this since my boys were little. I want to be sure they are squeaky clean. In our family we do collard mixed with turnip greens....we pour off the water because its supposed to "get rid of any lasting bacteria.. Missed bugs.. Grit... Etc" .... Once rinsed... Back in. Pan.. Add homemade chicken broth.. Pinch of sugar(cause Meme says it takes the edge off the bitter) .. Pinch of baking soda(makes them tender) ... Smoked meat(whatever sounds good that day... Lol)... Salt... pepper... Garlic...Cook till tender and scrumptious! Nothing too fancy... Bit of vinegar pepper sauce drizzled on top right before eating... Mmmmmm... Mmmmm.... Good! ♥️ Thx for the idea of adding kale.... Sounds delish! We are from North Carolina originally. I'm wondering what variations people may have across the country🤔🤔🤔Love the prep... I'm for anything that makes my day easier👍🏻😊♥️💯 Thx for your great ideas
Now this is a recipe I definitely want to try n learn 💖‼️
Hope you enjoy!
Those greens look delicious..😋😋

I remove the stems also, especially if they’re long and thick.
Yum yum!!
I clean my green the same way ❤
😅 That's a great idea going to try it for my family. You always have great pointers when it comes to cooking. What kind of pots do you use? I know you mention in another video but I forgot which one.

I bought that “soap” on Amazon after I saw your video. Thank you so much! My greens came out so clean and they did NOT taste like soap.
Fantastic! I’m so glad you tried this trick and it worked for you :)
Yum
Thank you for helping me make my Thankstiving meal, Camille!! I would like a recipe for collards that contains no meat OR with just bacon or ham, please. This is because I don't eat poultry at all and I'm not into ham hocks, either..
Hi there!🛋️👜☕️🌶️🍗⭐️💯🤩😍 I am working away, making my way through all your videos. Thank you for all of your hard work. Your videos are very comforting and I love them.
You are so welcome! im so glad you live my videos
Ahhh, i see u did use turnip greens. Didn't catch that earlier. Sauteed beet greens are delicious also. 😊😊
Yes, thank you!
I haven't prepped them like that in advance. I have cooked them in advance and seasoned them.
You can do that too! Like sometimes I make them the night before fully cooked then warm up. But I like this method when I don’t want to do the prep the night before
@@CamirrasKitchen true because you using an Instapot I get it, it's cutting back the time which is good
I have never prepped greens before
i hope you try it. save me so much time
Why don't people cook mustard greens? They are the best, especially to get with your fingers
Personally I was never raised on them. I always heard they have a different flavor. My mom only cooked the traditional greens and because she is old school and southern we never were allowed to "experiment" at the holidays. But I know people that do like them a lot. I tried them once and because they were different than what I am use to I bypass them. I don't care for them, lol.
I Cook mustard all the time and enjoy them. I just couldn’t find them in the store that day.
@teeking4302
As with anything, it’s about personal taste. That being said, I also love, love, love mustards and yes taste better using the fingers!!😂👍🏿
I love them to😂
Great video: I like the soap solution: The juice from the greens is a good colon cleanser: I would have used that same soap or some kind of natural remedy to rinse the plastic bags out!
I used to grow greens and they were full of bugs and bug eggs and the sand from everywhere 😅😅
yep! them things need to be CLEANED haha
Ok so, I know you probably got like 10 bags already on stock. When can I come pick mine up? These look great and ain't even finished yet.
Very good tips. Do you ever use turnip greens, beet greens, or dandelion greens?
Yes I do!
Never did this before but will do it next time! I love collards & Turnips together.
💯🎵 yummy 🎶 😋🍷🌹
I heard of a housekeeper who would wash large batches of greens in the washing machine!
Y’all done taught me something today
Surely on delicate cycle!@@CamirrasKitchen
Yucky 😮
Nice, but you need gallon-size, not quart bags. Can't contain enough greens and you will run out fast !
ill just cook 2 bags at once, but gallon does work too
Do you have a cookbook? If so, where can I purchase a copy?💕
i have 2 ebooks. link in the description
@@CamirrasKitchen thank you so much!

Definitely don’t leave those tough stems on them.
The pressure cooker will break it down easily
You forgot about the Chitterlings lol 😂

@@CamirrasKitchen love love chitterlings and hogmag yes I am that south

GIIIRRRL, don't you know I've heard people say they clean their greens in the washing machine.
I am see how that doesn't make someone sick, or give them some type of bacterial infection in their throat, or stomach. That takes the word lazy to a whole nother level.
🤢🤮🦠🦠🤒
So I just heard of that. I ain’t never thought to or have done something like that in my life 😂 sounds kinda crazy to me
